Have you ever removed a comic from your list of favorites? If so, what was the sin that convinced you that you didn't want to read that comic anymore? I know I have, and I know why, but I was wondering what your answers would be.

I only remember removing ones that haven't updated in many years...though even some of those I keep if I still find the comic cool, or am hopeful that one day it'll return.

So I don't delete comics from my favs often. XP

-Comics that have moved from Drunkduck and will not be updating at their DD mirror site anymore

The only ones I unfaved were ones that didn't update for over a year, and it made me sad to see them on my list and know they were abandoned.

Oh, and in the case where I fave a comic to bookmark the archive but decide I don't want to get the regular updates on my alerter. (I usually check in on those from time to time, though.)

Sometimes I'll favorite things that look interesting or that I might want to check out later, but when I notice that I don't ever go read them when they update, I'll un-favorite them. Also comics that don't update for months on end (unless I really, really, really like 'em).

I guess I'm just not sensitive the un-favorite thing because my alerter doesn't work, so I don't have any idea when someone favorites or un-favorites me. I kinda like not knowing, that way I can assume I'm way more awesome and beloved than I actually am. ;)

I have, yeah. I won't unfav a comic just because they went on hiatus or died because I still enjoyed it (I still faved comics that were not only short but already dead when I started reading them), but usually it's some kind of gut feeling.

Still, if the above didn't imply it well enough, I don't de-fav often, lol.

I used to do 'cleaning' of my favs lists of things i no longer read, if i liked the comic i wouldn't unfav it.

I've unfaved many times for the story just being irritatingly retarded- actually to use the perfect off DD example so no one rages at me i unbookmarked least i could do after years of readership since it just got repetitive and droll- every strip was the guys friends gawking over how awesome and 'funny'/retarded he is. Even worse that the guy was the author's gary stu.
The strip was one of my favorites back in the day though.

When i first started plastic i got pretty butthurt when my fav went down by 2 and then stayed at 100 and something. Then i got featured and it went up over 300 and i was never butthurt again.
It's over a thousand now, haven't checked in forever tho.

-Slow updates made no sense from one to another and I couldn't follow it anymore.
-Shock humor became tiresome and predictable.
-Comic turned out to be excessively more art than story. Months went by and it was still muddling around with a prologue and introduction of seemingly unimportant characters.
-A featured that originally seemed promising, as it became popular the tone more changed to the creator was a legend in his own mind while doing groan worthy humor.
-A few really well made comics that either went on to become published and stopped updates altogether or became artsy fartsy in content for months.
(Not naming names.)

I used to be a webcomic critic for a few years so maybe I'm just picky at this point.
I've had it done to mine a few times and I'm admittedly left wondering 'Why?' when it happened.
Oh well, what can you do?

I removed all the comics from my favourites list a long, long time ago. I still read them but the alerter was pretty unreliable and it became a nuisance.

Now I just have a set of search parameters saved and I check that regularly. I still miss updates occasionally but, especially if you have a large number of favourites, I find it's a much more reliable way of seeing when they've updated.

I actually use my favorites list to store the comics I'll (eventually) investigate for featuring, so any of them that haven't updated in over a month get kicked right off. :]

However I use an RSS reader to keep track of the comics I actually read... since there's so few of them I don't actually take their feed off until they've ended or for some reason have changed to become unlikable to me. Even if there's a really long time between udpates, or are on an indefinite hiatus (damn you, view of venus) I keep them on the RSS feed, because then when there's a new page it pops right up for me and I dont have to worry about missing it.

I have a lot of comics I've pulled off my faves. As people have said, comics that didn't update any more were part of the reason.

But mostly, it's just comics that I've completely lost interest in. There were a few comics that I loved ages ago, but now they just seem so bland and generic. Art that I used to think was pretty good would not change and you could tell barely any effort was being put into it.

There was actually a couple of cases where I was deleting some comics and I accidentally got rid of one I liked. When I went to get it back, I couldn't remember the title. I eventually found it six months later and then couldn't remember why I got into it in the first place.

I used to fave ANY comic that looked good. Even if it didn't update in a few years. Just in hopes that they'd continue it someday.

But a few weeks ago, I just kinda went, "Meh" and un-faved them. I also un-faved the ones I wanted to check out, but didn't really actually go to do that. I mean, archive numbers aren't bad for me (Sometime last year, I read ALL of the Sam and Fuzzy strips. That's over 1000...so...yeah)

But it's pretty much because...

-Not frequent updates
-Couldn't follow the storyline/Lost interest
-Insert other good reason here

all the time, whenever I get sick of something, it stops updating, stuff I never check that sort of thing.

Usually, if a comic only has a few pages, I'll favourite so I can keep track of it and delete it later if it turns out to be not good.

There are a couple that I've deleted after I feel they should have ended, but kept going. I'll usually delete ones that drag on too much as well.

I don't have many faves to begin with, mostly because I only fave comics that I not only really, really like but I know I'll go back and read eventually. I've only deleted comics that haven't updated in forever, and that I've lost interest in. But I still have comics in my fave list that haven't updated since like last year, mostly because I really liked them and I like to go back and look at them anyway. XD

I don't remove comics that haven't updated recently for the aforementioned reasons. But I also tend to use my faves list like a reading list of stuff I haven't gotten around to seeing. That's why a lot of the comics I actually like enough to follow only see me leaving a comment every few pages. I forget to keep up with them and don't read for 3 weeks at a time.

If I remove something it's usually because it hasn't updated in several years ( generally after about 2 years of no updates. ). Also, if I remove something it's probably because I went back and read it and it just wasn't any good whatsoever. Things like comics that turn into teenage girl-fantasy yaoi or slashfics usually get dumped. I don't care how good the art is if you expect me to believe that the popular straight guy just suddenly went gay for the geeky gay loser who he never once noticed before.

oh man i unfavorite all the time. I have my favorites list set up to display what gets updated in 30 days, and anything that falls off that list gets deleted. the only exception to that that i make is a few adult comics here and there.

Yeah I feel that way with Craving Control. It had a funny story that was going somewhere, but it hasn't updated for a year now. Which is fine, because things happen. I just think it's funny that it's still in the top 25. I was #2 for a couple of days and fell 50 or so spots when I didn't update for a week. ...Just goes to show you how big of a fanbase CC had.

I feel that way with Craving Control.

I unfavorited Craving Control when it became blatantly obvious that it was dead. Dead comics tell no tales.
I also unfavorited Hero by Night, around the time when they stopped posting the journal of the original hero and began just putting the pages of the print comic. i actually liked the journal, and thought it was not only very original but also very engaging, and then they had to just take the originality out of it and it became a mirror site.

Basically it was becasue I started reading a comic and lost interest, or I had too many in there and couldn't make time for them all so the ones I liked least dropped off.

I've had it happen to me though! 3 times no less! Of course when people do it to me, they do it because they are pure, unfiltered evil! They're hatred of truth and lvoe causes them to lash out agaisnt me. Yeah, thats it, they do it cause they are crazy and evil! No other explanation, is there?

I generally unfavorite comics when it gets to the point that the narrative slogs to a crawl, or when it becomes clear that the comic will not be updated anytime soon. I may be happy to re-favorite said stories if they pick up again.

I have to really, really like a comic to favorite it...and then I tend to hang on, even after I know they are dead and buried...because I liked them so much. I guess I don't spend as much time keeping track of things as some of you, because I don't use any of the cool tools to keep up with comics. I see too many fade into "Oblivion"--oh yeah....that was one! I also won't favorite PS Sponsored Comics. To me, the goal here on DD is for the little guys and gals to put their work out and get noticed. I only spend my valuable time following the people who really put their heart and soul into their work and aren't getting paid for it...

So far, I haven't had to remove any comics in a very long time...

Going slightly off topic, people on this thread seem to be lamenting craving control as if it was a really meaningful story or had characters they cared about.
All it had was a hot chick with big boobs.
At one point she was even sucking candy off her own jugs! It wasn't even trying to be subtle about what its appeal was.
It was just fan service that caught on.
There are plenty more comics about featuring chicks with boobs just as big, so I don't see why it should be missed!

I think they are just using Craving Control as an obvious example.

On the other hand, you revived a month and a half old thread just to complain about craving control. Are you just as bad? :]

Skoolmunkee, I was just wondering around till I saw something interesting enough to comment on.

I dont have a problem with craving control, it delivers what it promises, it just seemed weird to act as if it was deeply missed or something.

Seems I cant help but skirt controversy around here.
