Has anyone done commission on DD before?

I'm interested to try doing commission but I have no idea if there's anyone who had done commission here before. Or is there any actually commission done at all on this DD? From what I can see, it seems most DD-ers here are starving artists too. Would charging a $10 for a character sketch be too high for my skill level?

I'd like to know this too. I do commissions on DeviantArt, but I haven't seen anyone on DD doing this really.

Man I'd love to do commissions. I'd do 'em for like 3 bucks a piece.
Read this comic. It is the greatest journal comic ever written and drawn. Trust me.

I have found that doing commisions is most profitable if you do them for people you actually know, making them for people on the inter-nets usually brings on less money. I have been able to sell some of my sketches for prices up to 30 euro's, and those were just pencil drawings.
If even I can do it, you should be able to do it too!
Just go to co-workers, familymembers, friends and other acquaintances and rack in the cash!

There's nothing against doing it here, it's just that most people are already on DeviantArt etc and do them there.

The main problem with commissions is that you need to either already have a large fanbase to draw on, or be really good/unique, in order to get much work. I've seen a lot of people try to offer commisions when they're relatively unknown and with mediocre skill and they basically get no takers.

I know a few people who only manage to get commissions within certain conditions. One of them hates 'the furry community' but does lots of furry commissions (not naughty ones) because those people like her art, she can get good prices from them. So part of being successful at commissions may be finding the right audience.

Dude furries will pay massive $$ for your art even if it's terrible. I can't find the pic; but to describe it pretty much looks like a 3rd grader scribbled some dog midgets with crayons and she sold it for 50$ (i believe it was on furaffinity)

I've even seen furries with actual drawing talent on there pricing for around 80-90& a bust shot -_- They usually do some weird style and chimera animals with huge anime eyes.

But anyways when i think of sketches myself I don't know if i'd pay 10$ for one..I can see myself buying a print or a poster though.

So, what you guys are saying is that the real money's in Fur-art?
And we could all prolly clean up on fur-porn?

...
I think you'd really start to hate yourself after a while. :(

I made a few hundred doing a porn comic once. The guy saw my work on DD and paid me to make an adult comic for him. That was boring work. Porn dialogue is very difficult. -_-

Nobody offered you that.
Seriously. Anyways, I'm currently working on a 1 meter square painting for a friend, mixing many different materials and stuff.
I'm getting 100 euro's for it!

That's interesting. I didn't know the fan base of fur base are willing to pay so much for a simple piece of artwork. Maybe I should start exploring into this field.

And I find people are more willing to pay for commission on DA compared to here.
