I was surprised when browsing that I didn't see a Pokemon topic up for the latest remakes of the games (unless I'm blind, which I wouldn't put past). But anyways, the latest remakes for the old Pokemon Gold/Silver games are out. Your thoughts?
I personally really liked the added specific characters for who's leading Team Rocket now that Giovanni stepped down. It makes it feel more personal rather than "Random Rocket Admin wants to fight" all the time.
Also, is it just me, or is the Elite/Champion far more difficult than in Gold/Silver?

I legally acquire my games. I promise. lol! But at the minute i don't have my *ahem* legal acquiring device. But currently I haven't played Heart Gold or Soul Silver yet. I really want to though. I like what they've done with the extra features and I'm sure ill be happy with the nostalgia trip.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to actually put some effort into one of these games. They have the power and storage capacity to do it, but they continue to disappoint me with each new half-assed remake where they refuse to take advantage of either.

I'm really enjoying Heartgold. Not only is it a nice replacement/improvement for the copy of Gold that (sadly) got lost during a moving trip, but the Pokewalker is, in my opinion, genius on the part of Nintendo. Hey, it encourages players to move around for about an hour and a half every day (that's how long it takes me to get to 10 000 steps) by taking out some of the level grinding and giving them easy items. Some of those items are pretty rare and valuable, too.
As for the actual gameplay, it does feel a bit more refined this time around. Granted, I haven't gotten very far yet (what with homework and taking my mons for walks every day) but it does feel like an improvement on an already solid game. Too bad I don't have the original to compare it to.

I love SoulSilver, shame about the lack of Arcanine though :(

"I do enjoy taking a stroll with your Leader Pokemon following behind you. However I do wish they had alot of events and side quests in the game like they did for Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. Though I don't know what the next one will be like in those terms."

I'm a little miffed at the Pokéwalker.
I mean, my copy of Pearl survived a full year and a half of sitting in the grass in my backyard and still worked flawlessly, and almost every gaming console I own has been subject to my butterfingers at one time or another. But the Pokéwalker? Nope, can't have that thing actually being hardy. I now have two totally useless Pokéwalkers sitting around my room.
Anyway, the rest of the game is pretty good, except for my little pet peeve known as the Rocket Admins' English names. Personally, I'd take Apollo, Athena, Lambda, and Lance over Archer, Ariana, Petrel and Proton. At least in the original set only Lambda had a stupid name.
Well, and the fact that the sprites leave much to be desired. But still, it wasn't bad.

I rather like the new game, the graphics are very vivid. Also, I am very pleased with the ability to have my lead pokemon walk behind me . The spirtes for when they are walking are cute, although there is one thing I do not like. The new game that replaced the slots, I hate it. Its annoying and takes a while if you're not good at minesweeper like games.
