Hey I was just wondering who knew of any comics in the general genre on Drunkduck. I'm making one of my own and I'd like to check out some others for general pointers and reference.
Thanks for anyone that can help.

I too am working on developing a darker style for my comic "Equinox". The results so far...

Obviously one of the tricks to making things look dark is to add hatching. And use lots of black, especially around the eyes.
Also, it'd be cool if you could post a reference pic of what your style looks like now so people would be able to assist you in darkening it.

I don't generally read much horror, but I'm really enjoying NecROMANTIC , which, admittedly, is so far more comedy than humor, but still pretty dark. Charby the Vampirate (the top comic on the site) is generally pretty dark and gothic, though it's been getting gradually more light-hearted over the years.

Las Vegas has a somewhat Alternative Noir feel to it.

Scratch that- I am aware of noir/dark comics on DD: here
http://www.drunkduck.com/Innocent and
http://www.drunkduck.com/Fullmoon_Stories and
http://www.drunkduck.com/BadBlood
why don't you try http://www.webcomicsnation.com/dirktiede/ps/series.php , Paradigm Shift? Could be helpful. Also check out Mark's style (http://www.drunkduck.com/Random_Idiocity ) while you're at it :)
Hope all this is helpful.

I actually tried making this really dark side project which was a comic to be read while listening to Velvet Revolver's "Come On Come In". It was about this mentally ill person in a padded cell who "lived" in his mind. As he hadn't experienced anything, he knew nothing and had nothing to relate to and as a result thought the world was empty and had nothing. This steadily drove him mad and in the end he kills himself.
I gave up on it because the symbolism became way too complicated till it got to a point where understanding it became like trying to understand time travel. One minute it makes sense the next it's utter nonsense

Wow!
Can't believe this topic got so many replies.
You guys helped me out big time
First off I love Equinox and I love that style of hatching. It just kicks emmense amounts of ass.
Second that's a good idea.
My style gets compared to Nightmare Before Christmas, Zim, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, and Neurotically Yours alot. So here it is and if any one has any suggestions let me know.
Also; I am completely enthralled by the imagry in "Random Idioticy" it brings Gothic tones to whole new levels. The second I saw it I didn't even get to the dialouge before it was in my favorite. Same with Equinox. While I haven't gotten through all of the links posted up I will. And thanks for helping me out so much you guys. I can tell from the first page of my comic to where it stands now the artistry has gone up quite a bit and I blame that on all of you... I mean thank you all for it. ^_^

I was actually about to recommend checking out Jhonen, but looks like you're one step ahead of me.

Also The Jhonen talk reminded me of Serenity Rose

It's this goth comic about a witch also published by Slave Labour. Havent actually read it, but the art style's good stuff.

That reminds me of a sick mix of Alice and Emily. I love it.
Thank you so much this is going to keep me busy for days now (I had absolutely nothing to do but draw for the next week or so)
Oh and thanks for actually checking out my comic as well. ^_^ That was awesome of you mate.

Really, you just need alot of black and shading, which is why I avoid drawing in that style... I suck at shading.
Yeah, well my version of Satan has three people!

Wyrden has definitely got Gothic dark undertones (sometimes overtones too), oh and there are werewolves (kind of).

mattboy115See the problem here is that he posted that THREE years ago and so your reply isn't so much of a conversation and talking to no one.
I don't see it...
If you REALLY MUST necropost, only do it if you have something add to the thread eh? ;)
if not, pleeeease don't do it.

I'm really more of a fan of horror in the form of writing. More Stephen King than anyone else but every now and then I come across one I like. I have yet to find many on this site (having not searched too far) but when I do, I should post here, having nothing else better to do with my life.
