Just thought this was kinda funny. A woman who narrowly missed getting onto that doomed Air France flight that crashed into the ocean was killed in a car crash on Thursday. Heh! I guess it is true that driving's more dangerous than flying!

I read about that news article online, few days ago. Everyone who responded to the news thought "Final Destination" as well. Can't deny that the thought also crossed my mind.

Considering how many people die on the roads and how many people can fit into an aeroplane, I don't think it's very significant. I'm sure a lot of people bumped from flights that subsequently crashed then went and died somehow- Well, EVERYONE does anyway, sooner or later. ;)
And then there's something that made her death more likely than other people: shock or depression at hearing about the crash. If she was driving in the accident (I don't know if she was), that would've been bad for her concentration.

The stats of deaths on airplanes and in cars are adjusted for the amount of people who travel each way. And with there bieng so many flights and millions flying everyday (I was surprised by that) is there that much difference in the numbers of worldwide travellers? No. But more passengers are in fewer vehicles.
If everyone flew their own plane with training amounting to putting them behind the wheel and having him go around a parking lot as opposed to experienced pilots with hundreds of hours who have been through intensive training? Well I guess driving would then be safer too. Military driving school was a lot harder than behind the wheel class in High School.
