That being said, I think it's a little funny that the most offended participants in this thread appear to be men.
Harkovast isn't a man. He's a furry. ;)

I can't say I'm offended at all. I find it extremely interesting to find out some of the comics I've read and enjoyed come from female comic artists. I'm never bothered by gender in creation, if I was I'd learn to draw and do the art for Wyrden myself...as it is I'm in a good position to work with a very talented female artist in that respect. I can therefore concentrate on writing and storytelling.

I think some good lists have also come out of it.

Harkovast was offended?

I didn't pick up on that.

Yet another blow against my limited powers of observation. (A bizare malady to have considering that I'm supposed to be an "artist" and all)

Honestly I don't think anybody was the least bit offended at all by the subject of your thread man.

But Pit_Face didn't really like the way Harkovast was responding to her and Hark was a little... cold in the way he was expressing opinion, which didn't help.

That's not a criticism of Hark, Isukun does the same thing, and when I disagree with people it often seems like I'm belittling or goading them for some reason. I don't think any of us mean that, it's just the way we post.

I think it's awesome whenever a girl gets into comics. I mean, not to stereotype here, but for the most part, girls/women aren't really that into comics. Well, women that I know anyway.

Most of the female artists I see, either don't draw comics at all, or just draw manga style stuff on deviantArt. It's always nice to see something different.

But like a few of you said, it really doesn't matter what gender you are, it's your artistic ability that matters. I just find it awesome that both genders can enjoy comics. That's what it's all about, isn't it? The love of comics?

Oh, and I'd like to give a shoutout to Hark's wife for having such mad skill with colored pencils. Woooooo! :D

i forgot about Pia Guerra...and they forgot Lynn Varley :omg:

"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre

Yeah, it's pretty unforgivable that they forgot about Pia Guerra. Then again, I forgot to metion her too. This is kinda sad since I think Y: The Last Man can match up against just about anything else in comics.

All I know of Lynn Varley is the coloring work she did for Frank Miller. Does the wikipedia article exclude colorists? Has Lynn Varley done any non-coloring work in comics that I haven't encountered? I'd be curious to check it out if she has. I think her watercolors on Dark Knight Returns are wondrous.

hehe, I'm not offended by this thread... at all... thank ye, patrickdevine!!

I'm more dismayed about the "women only draw manga" sterotype-in-formation *hides Misfit Assassins * but definitely not because it's close to home. wink, wink.

What's so passe about giving credit to the ladies?? Have you hugged your mother lately??

I wasn't offended! I like a good debate of the issues!

Ozone offends me, but he has now suffered my furry rage, so that makes us even.

I was a bit worried I was pissing off Pit Face though!

Kristen, I'll hug her next time I see her!

I am actually trying to sign up to a webcomic listing site at the moment called TomGeeks, which is specifically for web comics by chicks.
Since my wife is (as luck would have it) a chick, I am hoping to get our comic mentioned there.

I support this. Subvert the idiot system and use it as the cheap marketing gimmick that it is :)

LOL. That's great.

On to the original topic, I urge everyone to read Secret Six. Not only is it an awesome comic, it also happens to have a female writer and artist.

It's a Grizzly Bear battling Zombies. Do you need to know more?
