LunaCat: Oooooh... my little pony... *goes read*

Damn, I'm such a sucker at reading comics containing classic characters that I'm familiar with.

SympleSymon: Your comic's background perspective is pretty good, and the action sequence is quite dynamic. That actually tempted me to check out your comic.

I'm not promoting any of my existing comics here either due to the fact that I'm too stressed out (almost had a mental breakdown) to draw anything complicated. But this is just to showcase simple a piece of artwork (not displayed on DD) I did not long ago.

Eunice P - Seeing only the girls' feet gives this page a nice, mysterious feel. The graininess of the shadow beneath their feet and on the clothing is a nice touch as well. Good way to add detail to an otherwise "simple piece of artwork" as you said! :)

(You can see the full-size page here .)

National Dex

Genre: Adventure, Humor

Style: Cartoon

Story: A whole new take on the world of Pokemon. When one criminally-insane Pokemon threatens to build an army and revolt against humanity, none of his teammates take him seriously. Now he's run off, and no one has any idea what he's planning. Hot on his tail (or so they think!), the remaining Pokemon become separated from their trainer in the thick of a forest. While trying to regroup with their lost human companion, the team discovers a deadly historical secret that could very well destroy all life on the planet.
By the time you finish this, you'll have read it. :3

Wow. I already like National Dex. You know why? It proves that a pokemon comic DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A SPRITE COMIC. Not only that, but the art's pretty good, too. I like the way you do backgrounds, and the humor is spot on.

Here's my most recent page.

Comic: Dawnbringer
Story: Lonely girl gets picked up by a ship full of criminals. Hijinks ensue.

I'm on the Hairway to Steven, baby!

This page of Dawnbringer really shows your artistic skills. Great job drawing a crowd of people. I like the expressions too.

Comic: Ethereal

Story: Its about a teen girl who's best friend has cancer. The main setting is inside a children's hospital and this page is introducing one of the more wild characters ;)

This is the latest page. I'm not so great with perspective, but it really shows what the story is about.

Ethereal: Great balance with the greys, the page gives a good feeling, it reminds me when I was a kid and also jumped on the bed like that!

I've just updated my comic Hello NANO and introduced a new character.
Here she is:

Sorry, I forgot to mention the story is about some crazy guys that enter a fantastic magical world where anything can happen!

FAL: Nice page, the shades of grey are nice, character design is superb, and I'm loving the anatomical correctness of your sexy female character! Also, your lines are so clear and the hair is drawn so excellently, you must reveal the secret to your work! O; Great logo on her back...but there's just something about her pants that adverts my attention. ;)
---------------------------
Comic: Abducted

Genre: Sci-Fi, Horror, Drama

Story: It's about an alien named Glarg whose home planet is ravaged by robots and a zombie-like plague, leaving him to be the last of his species. Now he must travel across the universe and fight for revenge of his lost loved ones and home using the robots own weapon against them ( nanites ) .

Style: I change styles often in this comic so I'd just say "original".

This page is one of my favorites because it's one I've worked harder on with expressions than any other I've yet to draw, plus it first shows what the transformation sequence with nano-bots looks like.

The sharp black and white in your comic is something unique and stylized, which I imagine can only get better.

Stardust,

I like the softer watercolors look of your comic. I find it very easy to go crazy in Photoshop with lens effects and bold near garish bright colors but it's nice to see someting very easy on the eyes that's very pleasant to look at.

He's a pic I drew and inked but what really makes it awesome is the colors by Jason Embury. So of you may know him as the colorist for Hero By Night.

Dungeonmaster Jim, that there is a great cover, and a very well drawn piece of work. It's simple yet detailed and intriquing. Although theres not a whole lot happening, it does raise the interest as to what the comic is about, and makes me want to read the whole thing. The skull earing is a nice touch.

Ganter and Friends: This page is great, really. The art is fantastic and I laughed my ass of with it (specially the chair part, haha) I think it also gives a good idea of what the comic is like.

Hot Dog Hat: just started this comic stip. Instead of an ongoing story like my other comic NANO, these will be short jokes and situations I come up with. Here's a reduced version of the first page:

Title: Lexcore

Genre: Action, humor, sci-fi

Style: Manga, I guess

Quickie intro: Four students at the Special Ops military academy were moved up one year into the upper division, something unprecedented and very obviously something the Commander himself was involved in. To make things more confusing, the officer assigned to them hasn't led a team in years, and has a reputation for being one of the best Mimes at Special Ops.

Jeez, why did MuriraRK get totally ignored? Since the order is all messed up now I'll review two of these to get it back on track.

MuriraRK, you have a very professional looking comic by the looks of this sample page! Terrific job with both the toning and line art. I like the expressions and the cocky attitude of the Captain! Looks pretty funny ^_^

krisikas: Nice use of dramatic camera angles, especially the overhead shot. These sort of things really put you into the action of these scenes instead of just being an observer at a distance. Nice job also with the coloring, though where action lines and swooshes are concerned I think it would serve you best to make those transparent, so they do not look like solid objects. The fourth panel with the body being sliced in half was a little confusing at first, a good thing to keep in mind is that most action lines should run parallel of each other and not overlap each other. I think you're on the right track though, I like the designs for the evil horde of baddies they're slicing up and the tense posing for battle in the first panel looks pretty slick.

Here's a sample of Night School , Co-Written and Written by Myself and Evil Emperor Nick, Illustrated by me.
Genre: Fantasy, Humor and occasionally drama
Style: Western cartoon with slight Eastern accents.
Concept/story: What if the creatures of fantasy lore were placed in a modern setting? Night School follows the socialization and education of the beings that cannot attend day classes. It takes place in a fantasy setting that is pushing toward a civilized social structure, in the aftermath of a long and terrible war between Warlocks that has magic use currently under scrutiny. Creatures from many different regions of folklore make an appearance as the "baby boomer" generation that are learning how to be good citizens of the T.C.A.

this page pretty much sums some things up, the image is depicting the "Wild Hunt", which in faerie lore was a hunt led by either Odin or the Unseelie court (RE: Evil fairies) which was a procession of all sorts of horrible creatures, goblins, hounds and hags and Valkyries, which followed a spectral path in the sky and hunted wicked humans. All witnesses to the hunt were pulled in and forced to join it for all eternity. It's being contrasted by the "Wild Commute" since the Hunt is pretty much outlawed at this point in the story. ^_^

Illegal Aliens

Genre: Sci-fi
Style: I don't know whatever you call it...I call it scribbles
Plot: Aliens are among us and one of them doesn't realize who he is.
Updates: Monday and Thursday

Anyways this is an older page and I like the banter...

OK. Ziffy88 posted juuuust before I did. These things take a while to write so you can see how that happens

-Illegal Aliens
A sketchy style, still learning the media, but nicely fully coloured panels with decent backgrounds that are up to scratch and nice lighting effects. The figures are decently proportioned and I can see that style developing well as it continues along. :)

--------------------
I won't get rid of what I wrote for Amy though:
-Night School
That's beautifully detailed Amelius! I've never seen your work in a flat style before, it's interesting to see this transformation. You draw the wild exuberance of those different animals and beast types quite well, showing equal mastery of all types of physiognomies! A great contrast over the bottom panel with its more ordered chaos.
The one jarring note for me is the faun's head in profile on the bottom panel above Oberon's (?) raised hand. It's all right enough it itself but it may have fit better in that panel (to me) if his head was turned in a 3/4 profile view instead.
--------------------

OK, a cropped pic from a recent page that I liked.
Pinky TA is an action adventure war story.
It's set to tell the tale of the sexiness and horribleness of war and show a lot of curvy bits on the lady characters in the best art that I can come up with at the time.
-Recently Pinky has been having a dream fantasy sequence which enables me to return to my roots in fantasy art as well as collaborate with two other comic artists. Currently its Katch, soon there will be another (will be a surprise).

Great Thread. I got to see the work of people I might not have seen otherwise.

ozoneocean's Pinky TA
--------------------
I've always liked your work and this is a great example of why. The coloring is amazing and I practically feel like I'm flying when looking at it. The colors used are great and really compliment each other. I especially like the details. That animal's scales and wings are perfect. You even gave a nod to the land down below. In short, I envy. Do you color digitally? Parts of it look very much like traditional media so I'm curious.
--------------------

As for myself:

These are the two latest pages of my comic Rudolf . The second page is still in progress so I left the sketch on top.
Genre: Horror
Style: Japanese Manga(?)
Concept/story: A pack of werewolves raise a human from infancy breeding him to be a killing machine.

Rudolf: The anatomy and body language looks stellar! The backgrounds are rendered well AND well balanced. The panels flow nicely too. Even though you take it out, and I understand why, there's still something rather beguiling about your sketches.

Well, I guess I have to put one up, so...

Recent page from Because of Ivan (the only thing I'm updating now, or I'd put up something else)

Genre: diary
Style: sketch
Concept: my diary in four panel increments. I always ask that people not comment/rate directly on the page, but PQ me, because I want people reading it to feel like they're the only person to read it (among other reasons). Weird, maybe.

Guess I'll jump in this thread, too. I'm not too sure how to go about it for you, Rori, so I'll just go with something general rather than a specific page, if that works?

Your sketchy style suits the diary comic well, and there's a real honesty to the work. You're able to use very simple lines to, in a very abstract manner, represent clear background elements.

Okay, now I gotta post one of mine...

Pixel by Sean C

Style: Cartoon/American Comic
Genre: Satire
Concept: The life of Kevin Stanton, the slacker son of a wealthy industrialist who has had everything handed to him, and has blown it every time. The comic opens in the last days of Kevin's career as a children's show host.

I like the art and text bubbles for Pixel comic. Better than I could do, much better. Good name for a comic...

WWE The Comic by Walrus

Style: Photographic
Genre: Random/Adventure
Concept: Boogeyman infiltrates Mr.McMahon's office late at night, searching for one thing only: The WWE Championship Belt. Thus begins a long struggle for the retrieval of the Championship belt. One of the few photo wrestling photo comics out there.

To the dude above me, your text is really blurry. I'm not gonna read it if it's blurry. As for the art itself, it's not bad. You might want to work on spacing your panels out a bit and getting rid of all that black border.

What I'm working on right now is a Berserk fan comic. I'm posting the unlettered pages on my deviantart but when I letter it I'll probably put it on the Duck.

Anyway here is a sample of my work called BROOD KNIGHT

Genre- action, adventure, drama, angst, fantasy, sci-fi, some comedy and sexual innuendo.

Art Style - Manga

Introduction - This is a translated (Tagalog-English) compilation of my old works. Done around the year 1999 - 2000. It basically follows the formula of a kid who is bullied and a reject... who happens to have an inner-demon inside him. Sorta like Naruto. But before you accuse me of ripping off Naruto, this comic was made long before I watched that anime.

Hope you love it. :)

Starbraces
I'd like to show my work, but do you HAVE to show comic book pages? D: Because mine is still being scripted and I only have character art

I'll answer that by reposting the rules of the thread.

The basic idea is this: post either your favorite page or strip from your comic or post the most recent one to share with people. It's fairly similar to our other two threads intended to let people know about your comic, just with an actual image instead. You should also give the prior person to post some form of credit or acknowledgement. The same basic rules as the update thread apply here.

If you don't have a favorite from your own, or you don't have a comic yourself, you don't need to be excluded. Simply post one of your favorites from another DD comic you're a fan of and give a link to their page or a sneak peek at something upcoming you're working on.

1. A simple text acknowledgment will work. Rather than bog things down by repeating images, leaving a quick text note would be better.

2. I was going to leave the decision on plugging another person's work up to admin. If they say it's ok, then people can do it. I don't necessarily see a problem with plugging another persons work, so long as they're given credit for it, but the admins may see things differently.

3. As for image size, anything 500-600 pixels wide or less will do. Most people's browsers should be able to handle that. One page per title was my original thought, since it's your favorite, but we'll see how things go. Co-artists and writers can post their own favorite since they are their own people and hence will have different favorites from their co-creators.

Additionally: Anyone failing to follow these rules will result in me asking the admin to remove their post from the thread. Don't be a jerk. Give other people the acknowledgment they deserve. That means you need to give them more than "I like it". Leave a decent comment for them. They're only getting one here.
