Ghostbusters!

The new game is more or less the 3rd movie, since all the actors and writers are returning.

I am a little annoyed about the Wii getting shortchanged with a more "family friendly" version. The wii's control is perfect for Proton Pack simulation, but I doubt we'll get a more serious game for the system.

However, Ghostbusters will be THE reason I buy a 360, hands down.

I guess we'll have to see what they come up with. I'm convinced that the Wiimote-nunchuck setup would be great for blasting ghosts and rolling out that little trap. I hope they find the way to make that work properly.

I'm just excited to see that they're bringing this property back. And the right people are doing it.

Is it just Wii/360, or is there also a PS3 version?

Wii, PS3, 360, PS2 and DS. I am not sure about a PSP version though.

It's nice to see actors and writers returning, but those aren't the people I would be crediting with the creation of the game. Professional voice acting and good writing has failed to save many games with poor design and boring gameplay. The developer for this game is Terminal Reality. For those unfamiliar with them, their claim to fame is the fairly mediocre action title BloodRayne. Apart from that, they focus most of their attention on rather forgettable racing games. I wouldn't get my hopes too high on this one. It may be worth a rent for the story, but I wouldn't buy it without a few positive reviews to back it up first.

Even if it's mediocre, I will get it just to play through what is quite possibly Ghostbusters 3.

Look at GB2 and see how that turned out. Maybe like The Matrix, Ghostbusters was just a fluke.

(Actually, the cartoons were awesome.)

Hey, I think GB2 was a great movie. Not as good as the original, of course, but to compare it to the Matrix sequels? That's pushing it.

The majority agree that GB2 was a terrible movie, an inferior rehash of the plot elements of the original.

My god, The Majority!?

...

Seriously, who is "The Majority"? Is it the same "Majority" that made 2 Fast, 2 Furious the number one movie in America for weeks? The same "Majority" that just out and out refused to buy Psychonauts? The "Majority" are the same people who made the Matrix films you decry some of the highest grossing films of all time. I could go on, you see, but I won't because I'm having trouble thinking of more relevant examples. The point is that I don't put much stock in Majorities; and what I know in my own little minority is that I enjoyed Ghostbusters 2 for its quirky humor, fun special effects, an cast of very talented actors. Were there things wrong with it? Sure. It certainly wasn't up to the caliber of the first film by far (the dreaded curse of The Sequel). But terrible? I can't even see how anyone could use that adjective in relation to it.

Is it wrong to want an awesome ghostbusters game more than sex?

Seriously, I can picture it all now. Three dudes playing online in a hotel level, hunting ghosts of various price points. In the grand ballroom you've got slimer in your sights. Two guys blast him and then wrangling him close to the third who springs the trap open to catch him, netting you gamemoney to buy upgrades.

Also I'm always going to play as Bill Murray.

I'll pick it up, but apparently the Wii version will have a totally different style than the other ports. It will look more like the cartoon than a movie, from what I've heard. Hopefully the Wii drops price by then, I might pick it up.

I'm all for games having some form of artistic stylization. I'm tired of games trying to be photorealistic. That's why I don't mind the Wii version being cartoony. What worries me is that it'll also be minigames or too casual-friendly.

Yeah, I'm putting this game in the "I might get it when I'm bored, have some extra money, and the price has dropped to around $15 used" file.

Also, I've never been able to tell why everyone hated the Matrix sequels so much. I know they weren't as good as the original, but they weren't that horrible. (Except the part when they're all dancing in the cave. That was pretty retarded.)

I mean, come on, they had Orgasm Cake. Orgasm Cake!

You guys have played Ghostbusters on the commadore 64 and its nes port. You've played the American nes Ghostbusters 2 and the european Ghostbusters 2. But did you know, theres a sega gensisis Ghostbusters?

The final boss is the auddry 2 from Little Shop of Horrors, and you can play as midget Pete Vankmen with a giant head.

Graphics are pretty, but it looks like the gameplay has high potential to be fairly slow/boring. The cancelled Zootfly game actually looked better to me, or at least more exciting.

I like the old nes ones better than the sega one, but its interesting to play none the less, becuase its Ghostbusters.

I know one of my favorite movies, not just comedy movie, but as a movie, Ghostbusters is a classic. Its hilarious, its got good special effects (better than this overly computer generated crap we have now) and its got horror/occult themes. Who doesn't love stuff with occult themes in their comedy movies.
