Getting into a trance/altered state while doing a comic?

I know this sounds insane.
But have you ever thought of the possibility that comic ideas will just rush into your head and all you can do is jump around and have your consciousness transported into a different reality while absorbing all those ideas?
And the moment you get calmed down you only have fragments of what was originally crammed into your head. Cuz face it. Your thoughts are still faster than your hands .
Man its 1 am and I find myself typing this. lol!

All the time man, I believe that the next greatest story will just come out of no where and find itself in my head (sorta like a day dream), then be tragically torn into pieces as the memory of the ideas are fragmented and replaced...eventually becoming a monstrosity that only lives to be hated(but that's only cause I have a low self-esteem of corse).

haha almost everyday that happens to me xD. usually when im half asleep is when this happens. I'd get a really awesome, insanely wicked idea, and then like an hour or 2 later, I can't seem to envision it the same way as I had when the idea first came to me xD. It's kinda like a trip if you may, its unfair xD

I occasionally get so absorbed in a work that I forget about everything and I kind of enter a different state, but I don't think it's like entering a new reality. I'm pretty sure it's just the moments I overcome my ADD 100% and focus in with all I've got. They're really rare.

I usually get ideas while walking or when in the shower. I do zone out a bit then too. It's the only time I don't have to be actively thinking about a task I need to do or some worry. (Essentially, my meditation time.)

thanks for your responses.
From what I've experienced, I've been getting this kind of experiences at a younger age (10 years old or younger). Long before I started putting up Brood Knight or Mag-Isa. It was just insane. I would just be jumping around and everyone would think I'm weird.

Well I feel the need to walk around or act out things in my comic...does that count?
I HAVE had a rush of great ideas come into my head, and then I forget everything not very long after. I am having this problem a lot recently, it's annoying. XD

Rush of ideas? I had that from time to time... it's more like I'm brainstorming in a chatroom or something, andthen when I want to sum up the idea for my notes, I can't get around it, half of it is gone, and I'm left sitting "well, why was this idea so good five minutes ago?"
Altered states? Apparently a lot of artists switch to the the right side of brain while drawing (which does the visual thinking) and I've noticed that whenever this happens to me, I just stare at the paper/screen and my hand moves insanely fast drawing all the crazy jagged lines that somehow form an image, haha. I do that often during the second hour of coloring my pages.

I never have that experience before...
I guess I'm just a natural day-dreamer. Bits of ideas came into my mind when I ponder for the continuation of the storyline. But I never enter into any meditation state or whatsoever. I guess I'm one of the odd ones out. :neenjah:

It ought to, 'cause I do that too. XD I've scared old ladies at the bus stop with it sometimes.
But yes, I sometimes go into that trance-like state - it happens a lot while I'm writing, but not so often while I'm drawing. I write a lot - I've done NaNoWriMo and won every year since 2003 - and I've got whole sections in some of my novels that I can't recall writing. Not at all. And yet they're usually the best raw, un-edited material in the whole novel.
And some of my characters write themselves. I'm still doing all the typing and following a vague plan in my head, but the characters do seem to take over every now and then and just... write themselves.

Actually, this reminded me of something. One time, I was acting out an intense scene and got myself to crying (as one of the characters) really hard and serious crying. My sister came in and saw me and wanted to know what was wrong. The reply "Nothing" has never before been so true -- or so hard to believe -- as it was then.
This happens to me a lot. I've had a couple chapters completely rewritten when "natural character reactions" took over.

Yes.
I remember one night I thought of a great idea, I thought "Oh, that'll be great!"
Next morning, not a clue what it was...
Well actually, it was about 10 minutes later I forgot what is was...

This happens to me all the time! Laura has tried to help me out by getting me a pocket-sized notebook. However, sometimes the ideas slip away before I have the chance to write them down.

Yes. I usually put myself in the situation and react the way I would (or expect my character would). When all that's done, I play out an entire months worth of a story-line as an animation in my head... looks pretty cool. :3
But, the problem is, almost anything startle me when I'm doing this.

I wouldn't call it an altered state but I can't multitask on any level while drawing and I always lose track of time. Yeah, I can't even watch a clock while I'm drawing so I honestly have no idea how long it takes me to make a comic. I wouldn't call it a trance or anything so much as getting really absorbed in what I'm doing

Well, I think I know what you are talking about.
Actually, I think I got one today, but lucky for me, I had a notebook by my side to sketch everything out. *I was at school :P*
It happens randomly to me.
Sometimes I can't draw what I see.
Sometimes I see nothing.
But sometimes...I get the greatest ideas from them.
I've also learned something from comic making.
You can't expect to have your comic be good unless you sketch stuff out, get good ideas, stuff like that ^_^

And that happens to me all the time. While working on my comic, one mundane and unimportant moment turned into it's own plotline for another story arc (which I'm writing a little of right now). But for most any work I do, that happens all the time. I'm writing a solid idea, and it branches out into more and more ideas until what I was working on before seemed so obsolete and for lack of better word "sucky."
I find listening to music helps get these stray ideas in order or helps to build upon them for later.

If it does, I do that all the time too. Helps to keep dialogue straight.
