Yes I actually might consider purchasing an xbox360, the only problem is, I'm not too sure on which games I should purchase. Anyone have any reccomendations?

That depends. What's your taste in games?
I recommend Ace combat 6 and Forza Motorsport 2 myself. :) Blue Dragon is a decent RPG (if you can put up with the same Boss battle music every time you fight a "boss"). Bioshock if you like first person shooters. Not sure of the newer games coming out, though Dark Sector looks good.

Which online games would you reccomend?

You can go online with Ace Combat 6 AND Forza Motorsport 2. Hopefully someone else who plays more online games than I do will post their suggestions. :)

I'd recommend Forza 2 if you are into racing games. Forza 2 is more of a driving simulator (...a tad more arcade-y than Gran Turismo.) thus, it can be hard to get into. It's a great game by all means, hell, I love to race from time to time. If you are looking for a quick fix racing game, try Project Gotham Racing 4.
Beautiful Katamari is a nice game, simple and fun for all ages. Dead Rising is a really fun game, it's really challenging, but very fun. Lost Odyssey is also another good suggestion as to what you could buy.

Dead Rising can be really frustrating with it's dodgy controls and poorly thought out save system. But if you can put up with those, then it's definitely worth it.
Bioshock is pretty good if you're into First Person Shooters, but I don't think it can go online. I suppose the most obvious choice would be Halo, in that regard.

I loved Dead Rising and would have recommended it myself, except that it doesn't really have the online options you're looking for. I personally don't care much for online play, so its lack in Dead Rising didn't bother me at all.

What the heck are you talking about. It's the console that has the most games. The other consoles are still playing catchup.
Those were my two cents.

Meh I played Halo 3 at my next door neighbors house but, it wasn't really that
great.
Dead rising looks kinda fun though, reminds me of Resident Evil 4 in a way.

If you want a violent yet fun game get Gears of War. If you want a game that has no bad points get Call of Duty 4.

Try: Call of Duty 4 for online shooting
Rainbow Six Vegas 2: has some excellent online co-operative and teamVteam play.

Halo 3 is bad yes. The first was better. Not good mind you, just better than the other two.
I think you can play the Darkness online as well. Darkness is pretty cool.
You get tentacles.

Not really. 3 has online better than 2 and has Forge.
Halo's campaign has always been terrible, even in the first.

Hey , i got an xbox 360 in march for my birthday. I currently have 6 games for it , not that many but i love the games so i'm waiting and i'm saving up for halo 3 , i don't care if you say it's bad , because it's my type of game and the online is excellent. Just now i have call of duty 4 , forza motorsports 2 , assassins creed , pro evolution soccer 2008 , harry potter order of the phoenix , and nba 2k6.
If you're into shooting games , i recommend call of duty 4 and halo3. Please don't listen to the people badmouthing halo 3 , it's a good game and is supposed to be the best game in the world , others may say different , but that's what i've seen in game magazines and websites.
But if it's racing games you're into , forza motorsports 2 , it has great realistic gameplay , you can put crash damage on and play your friends and smash each other into barracades and stuff. You can also buy cars upgrade them and styke them yur way.
It's like need for speed but in proper race tracks , which i think is better , because you don't go and ruin your newly customized car by crashing it into traffic.
But if you like adventure games then assains creed is your thing , exploring many cities , riding about on horses and getting to kill anyone who gets in your way , it's awesome. But i won't lie to you , it gets boring after a while , but when it's still fun , i would say it's one of the best adventure games there is. You can also get harry potter , which lets you explore hogwarts , and actually follows the storyline , instead of killing boring spiders and using crappy spells , you get to battle with voldermort and duel with wizards in the school , but once you've completed the story line it's basically a case of finding secret things around the castle and cleaning up the castle , i was advised by someone not to get this game , but when i got it , it was really good. So even though someone advises you not to get something don't always listen to them. But It all comes down to if you like Harry Potter or not.
But if it's sport games you like then pro evolution soccer is really good , it has very realistic ball control , good season modes and tournaments , you even get to play dirty and dive. I got Nba 2k6 as an dexperiment to see if it's any good and it was so eventually i'll be getting nba 2k9 , it has cool trick dunks , good ball contol and lots of well known players , like Kobe Bryant and Shakiel O'neil. But yet again it comes down to if you like baskeball and footall/soccer. Anyway i hope this helped.

I guess it's kind of late to be talking people out of getting a 360 now, but mine has just been an exercise in frustration lately. I haven't bought a game for it in a while since most decent games I can get on the PC in a cheaper version that looks and plays better. What's more, I've been getting frequent DREs lately, usually when I'm in the middle of playing something. My collection has dwindled down to two games and I still haven't found any incentive to pick up Live when I can just play the same games for free on the PC. I really am tempted to just cash in on my extended warranty and trade in the system.
