The characters are based on myself and other people I know. Chris, for those who know me, will attest is clearly based on me (artist's ego showing).
I always enjoyed the PVP comic strip from Scott Kurtz. I loved the notion of creating an ensemble cast of characters gravitated around a comic-book/ roleplay gaming store. It was originally planned as a series of mini-episodes to be filmed to go onto the web and making it like Clerks. But, due to time constraints of the cast, I chose to move it into a comic form.
However, a Geeks movie is still in the works, and some filming will be done at this year's San Diego comic-Con (all going well...)

Just hit my 25th strip mark, after you minus the weekend sketches and the week of reprints during the updates outage.

Now on my 52nd strip. I missed promoting my 50th strip due to work and stuff. But, I look forward to hitting triple digits.
Also, I'd like to hear people's comments on the strips, and please feel free to leave comments, it's nice to know people are enjoying the strip as it's growing.
