I am assuming that you are all like me, hardcore gamers with their own niche topic. Does anyone else get incredibly annoyed at some of the gamming comics that this place comes up with? I'm big on Mario and Sonic, so I get annoyed when I see comics that have mushroom eating jokes and 'oh no, the princess is gone again'. So what do you guys think? Do you get annoyed at your favorite game gets taken advantage of?

umm, errm. Maybe I wasn't as subtle as I thought I was.


Anyway take a comic like Cru the Dwarf. That's based on a game and it's done really well because because if you play Wow you can relate and get more out of it. Or,that hand drawn pokemon comic (can't think of the name for the life of me!) the person who draws that knows pokemon and isn't going to have Pikachu with a shot gun. I have a gaming comic, and I feel that even though the art is crap (which is why I stopped) the jokes and the information is sound. I hate it when I read a Sonic comic where they don't know that Amy is really 12 or a Mario comic where Luigi isn't gay (he so is dammit).

So forget the art, forget the sprites. Do you guys look at the context of most gaming comics and feel that they do not know what they are writing about?

Do you consider all sprites "gaming comics" ? Most don't have much to do with the original game they represent. :/

Anyway, look at Luigi in Super Smash Bros. His taunt, his final smash, even that running punching thing that he does. Or what about that secret diary that he kept in Paper Mario where he whined about his brother the whole time? Gay.

Awesomeness is gay to you? He can jump higher and is easier to use when flying than Mario! And yet Mario gets all the fame and fortune. Luigi could get peach to go on a date with Peach any time he wants, he just likes Daisy more. Though his taste in women is fail, he isn't.

Actually, Daisy originally appeared in the Super Mario Land games for the gameboy. It was explicitly stated that those games took place outside of the mushroom kingdom, and that the princess was a different one from whom Mario usually saved.

As long as the joke isn't annoyingly old (Lol getting high on mushrooms in Mario! Genius!), I don't mind it.

Leegi also gets an extra power when on a yoshi... He can get it to use the enemies it eats by, like, Spitting it out at the other enemies!

Well, just because Luigi eats right obviously he isn't fat enough. He doesn't generate enough gravity.

I'm not particulary happy about any gaming comic that focuses on one game, and there are a lot of them here.

Which is why my comic references tons of games. It's what a gaming comic should be. I think the comics that focus more on one game, are just "game" comics, not "gaming" comics.

If we aren't being specific to webcomics, the worst game comic I've ever read is Silent Hill: Dead/Alive. Appalingly bad art work and an insistance on saying fuck. The only thing they took from the game was the colour brown.

Theres a fine line in writing them as faithful or fanboy.

I used to read it. It was a good regular "breakfast" comic- new updates all the time, pleasant looking etc... But I dropped it from my list in the end. I just got a bit tired of the characters and the situations. I'm not a big fan of comedies that do drama.

In that comic he's done that cyclicly since he came up with those ideas. It's just dull and seasonal.
