Since "just" is capitalized, I assume it means "just recently."
This game came out in 2008, but since I didn't have a ps3 PLUS an hdtv, I didn't buy it until a week ago.
Valkyria Chronicles
A semi-turn-based-strategy game by Sega. This one was "praised to the skies" by reviewers, sold well in Japan, has an anime, and will be getting a game sequel. Yet, it didn't sell too well in the USA. Probably because it's TBS, and most American gamers are FPS-addled idiots.
**Biased opinion on American gamers since I really hate FPS.**
Anyways, if you are okay with TBS games, for example FF Tactics, or X-Com, or Jagged Alliance, then you should like this game. If you also like anime-styled graphics prettified by watercolor-filter rendering, then you should love this game.
I had a good opinion of Sega RPGs based on Skies of Arcadia, and now it seems they've won me over in TBS as well. VC's TBS battle system is very well-done and pretty unique, incorporating some RTS elements but not to the extreme of Kingdom Hearts where I simply lose all interest. The storyline is fresh as well... no AD&D or ancient evil or god-mechas or whatever, but an anime-fied WW2 setting.
Now, I normally HATE WW2 setting in games. Especially WW2 real-time games like FPS like Call of Duty. But VC makes WW2 fun. This is coming from a WW2 HATER.
If you've never heard of this game, wiki it up. I've waited for this game ever since Sega sneak-peeked it... then forgot about it because I didn't have a PS3 + HDTV... and then bought it last week. It's everything I hoped it would be.
