Name a game that sucks.

I hate Rayman 3 Hoodlum havocs. It doesn't have any variety anyone hasnt seen before. Plus, Rayman's voice is so out of place.
why must the world end?
because... wait.

Somehow I don't think claiming Killzone was a lackluster title is going to get shplane's goat. I tend to agree on both accounts, though. Neither Killzone nor any of the Halo games really appealed much to me. Really, the only console FPS which I ever found enjoyable was the Timesplitters series (I just can't get enough of monkeys on fire).

Drake of the 99 Dragons was pretty horrid. I've also never liked any of the Bioware RPGs. While the combat system in KotOR was alright, the pointless dialog at times really pulled me out of the game. After KotOR, though, their games had a steady decline in quality with the combat system being unbearably bland in Jade Empire (not to mention I hate RPS systems even in turn based games, in action RPGs it's even worse) and the story being cliche and the action being boring and too easy in Mass Effect. A lot of people seem to love these games and all I can say is that people's standards have really dropped.

Killzone 1 was only mediocre, but made awesome by the fact that you could add in bots to your offline games.

Killzone 2 is going to be awesome though. Or one would hope from seeing all the trailers and whatnot. Hopefully they'll keep the bots thing, and let it fill in empty spots on online games with them.

How dare they experiment and try something new! Everything should follow a predictable formula! What's this about excitement? I don't want to have fun or have my expectations challenged, I want to be comfortable and act with an air of smug superiority because I know How It Works!

OR he could be saying that the series was good as it was. How about they make a NEW game when they want to expirement with something, instead of dissapointing fans of the series by making the game something other than what they want?

Because they'd never want to experiment with an already established character would they? No one would buy it if they tried making a new character. Nooo, they want Mario and Zelda and Metroid and there's going to be hell to pay if it isn't exactly the same as every other fucking game in the series.

People like this are the reason creative industries do nothing but make remakes and tie ins and sequels.

If you want to play something the same as the game you've already played, play the game again. I'm not paying for something that hasn't changed with the exception of the mediocre plot, and even that doesn't change with Nintendo, even across franchises.

I just wrote four paragraphs in a single post, I'm going to kill myself now.

I wouldnt mind Zelda changing at all.

Zelda could turn into a sci-fi game where Ganondorf is a giant robot and Link is a an alien electro space-borg. Midna could be a 500 pound brod whore and Zelda could be an asian chick. And Chewbacca and Han Solo could fly the milinneum falcon to the Gerudo Desert and kill all the hot-chicks.

I'd still love the game, because it is my childhood.

Zelda has left out the two greatest characters out of the games forever anyways... KOTAKE AND KOUME THE WITCHES!

...

People buy games in a series because they liked the other games in the series. They DON'T buy them so that they can play a completely different game. If developers want to use an established set of characters in a game, make a spinoff. Notice Mario Party? Now what if Nintendo had decided that they would make that the next main installment of the Mario series?

You'd be saying "WTF WHY IS MARIO SO DIFFERENT NAO?!?", wouldn't you?

If a game is GOOD, it's a GOOD thing for them to make other games that are similar to it. I'm not saying that they shouldn't add in new things, but they shouldn't completely change what a game is.

I agree mario needs new material, though.

Remember Mario RPG? That game was different! It was good!

Mario Galaxy? The same as all the other games, except Bowser was making a Galaxy.
Mario could have a vastly better game if they switched the stories up a little every time. If not, it'll be like Mario Galaxy: the same story-line... in space.

Zelda is pretty good at doing this, in a way. They keep it relatively the same, yet provide a different story line every time. What Zelda does, however, is keep the same flippin' bad guy all the time! Dont get me wrong, I love Ganondorf. But he's getting old. Just die already, old man! Your like... 500 years old!

Yes, Mario RPG was different and good...

It was also a spinoff. NOT a main title in the series.

Custard, I meant the only good thing about paper mario, was the way you pated it. The attack things. Like an RPG. Mix with that formula, you get an old Mario game with shitty graphics.
It had no point then.

But the Paper Mario for the Wii wasn't a proper "Paper Mario" game. It was a spinoff called Super Paper Mario. It was actually an odd hybrid spinoff of two game series'- The Paper Mario series and the Super Mario series. Not liking it because it's not a proper RPG is like not liking Mariokart because it doesn't have any platforming. It borrows liberally from the Paper Mario series, but it wasn't the same thing.

Final Fantsy III, worst RPG game I've ever played. It had a weak story and nearly impossible boss battles. Also random enemies would pop out of nowhere and attack you and if you ever tried to fight back there would be a 50-50 chance that your attack would "miss"and you would be out in the open for a direct attack.

I hated Zelda: Twilight Princess. The story pretty much amounted to "There is a bad guy doing bad guy stuff. You're a good guy, so go and do good guy stuff. Also, wolf!" and the controls just sucked. I was also disappointed with Draglade - it was pretty and all, but it got mind-numbingly boring after the first five minutes.

Dark Cloud was pretty horrible. I can't say anything about the sequel - Dark Cloud 2: Dark Chronicle - which I'm considering getting my hands on, because it looks like it's got a decent plot, nice graphics and a decent game-play, but the first one was bad.

While I can certainly appreciate the whole running-around-to-find-bits-and-put-the-world-back-together-again, it was done rather badly in Dark Cloud. Town-building was boring, the dungeons were irritating, the weapon-growth/repair system was difficult, irritating and bad, even the sound-effects grated on me (seriously, the sound of the main character running around was like hammerblows slowly eating into your brain). Yeah. Not a good game. I only bought it because at the time, it was the only PS2 RPG out in Sweden, and I had a craving for RPGs.

It really didn't help that the hero's name - Toan - means "the toilet" in Swedish. >.>.
The Continued Misadventures of Bonebird - a poor bird's quest for the ever-elusive and delicious apples.

Farcry for the wii.
First off, its a fps for the wii (that wasnt made by nintendo) automatic fail. The controls made the game pretty much unplayable, especially when you go into that "primal" state. The graphics were gamecube worthy at most and I dont even wanna talk about the story. I cant think of a single good thing about that game.

Halo.

Halo wasnt horrible! It was just over hyped and mediocre. And the multiplayer was good. you people talk about it like its the new age E.T.

That popular and highly-acclaimed game that you like (but that I wasn't so keen on) sucks because I'm a non-conformist with better taste than the gaming majority.

Actually, I honestly believe that Halo sucks. It's not just "I'm better than you and I dislike this game, therefore it sucks." It's actually "OH MY GOD PLAYING THIS GAME MAKES ME SUICIDAL PLEASE GOD KILL ME BEFORE MY THUMBS TOUCH THE CONTROLLER AGAIN!!"
