Hey, was just wondering if you guys have any games that you really like but no one else seems to share that opinion

If anyone remembers SaGa Frontier for the ps1, it was almost universally hated by the rpg community but I loved it. I thought the battle and level up system was brilliant and the best I've ever seen in an rpg! I still whip out my old SaGa cd every now and then to play it =P

So yeah, any games you guys like that no one else does?

I like ICO for PS2. Though the fact that it was untranslated completely pissed me off. I thought it was a fun puzzle game with a semi decent storyline. Doesn't seem that many people feel the same though. A real underrated game.

The only game I can think of is Chaos Legion, hardly no one played it but it was made by Capcom and yes, button mashing was deeply involved but I fell in love with the storyline.

Psychonauts and Valkyrie Profile come to mind, but those are more like Cult Classics.

Okami is the most underrated game I've ever played. Those of you who've played it know how awesome it is.

So why has no one else played it?!

I always thought the Sly Cooper series was underrated. But that's probably just me.
Why hello there.

Underrated?! That game has received quite a few rewards!

VP has become pretty mainstream...though I guess it did take a re-release and a prequel to do that...
Yeah, I remember when VP was first released on the ps1...

Idiot fanboy: OMG!!11 Why is this game not 3d like final fantasy!? this suks!!1111

it's still kind underrated. Everyone's playing DQ and FF and such and paying no attention VP. :(

Anyway, it seems that I don't like a few games that everyone else seems to love. (read: The Sims and Halo 2)

People seem to be confusing "underrated" with "unpopular". Just because less people buy something that doesn't mean it was received poorly, it could just mean nobody had heard of it.

When I said underrated, I was refering to the fact that almost no one, besides game reviewers and a few other people, have played it.

Why do you think Clover Studios bit the dust? 'Cause Okami was almost never played!

God I adore that game! But the stupid thing is some people get put off by the graphics. One of my friends put it back on the shelf "because it wasn't realistic looking".

Okami was the last game they released, yes. But not because of poor sales. It was like a "farewell game".

Final Fantasy was a "farewell game", too.

All of their games sold pretty well, so the company didn't go under due to losing money. In fact, during the quarter when Capcom decided on the dissolution of Clover, Okami was one of their top selling games. It looks more like the company was dissolved because Capcom in general wasn't producing any major titles and they wanted to bring talent back into the main development studios. Clover was more dedicated to making original titles (although they did milk Viewtiful Joe for what it was worth) and in general, those games don't sell as well as established brand titles.

Body Harvest. Yeah there's a ton wrong with it, but damn if that wasn't one of my all time favorite games on the N64. I don't find many people who remember that one, let alone enjoyed it.

I've got quite a few obscure games. One of my favourites is called Ghost Master [en.wikipedia.org].

It's basically like a strategy/puzzle game where you have to put ghosts in rooms or on objects in the building and use their powers to scare mortals and free more ghosts.

It's great fun, especially while watching random people run with fear! >:)

I still have to go with Azure Dreams, an old PS1 game. It was never really popular, but I wasted hundreds of hours of my life on that game. I still pull it out and play it sometimes, and it's still fun.

lol!

Are you talking about how it was in a made-up language?
This is another game that is not considered a "bad game", it was just way under the radar for most people. I think it's great though.

I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles ".

Beyond Good and Evil, Shadow of the Collosus, Okami.. they are all so underplayed, they deserved way more than they got =(.

And (I'll get murdered for this), I actually liked Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, sure they were easy, sure the 3D games aren't as good as 2D, and the camera was hell, but it wasn't that bad =/.
Before you insult someone you should walk a mile in their shoes.

That way when you do, you are a mile away and have their shoes.

I remember SaGa Frontier! I rented it years ago, but I never got to finish it.

I've never met anyone else who's ever even heard of Threads of Fate. It's such a good game... It's rather short and a bit on the easy side, but the characters are just so likeable and the storyline is great.

I also like Legend of Mana, for pretty much the same reason - likeable characters and awesome stories. The graphics on LoM are great too, in my opinion. They're not high-end CGI or anything, but it's stylised and really detailed. Combat in LoM is fun, too, if a bit simplistic.

Breath of Fire (the first one) is a pretty good game. I'm almost finished replaying it for the second time.

I haven't played Okami yet, but I really want to. It looks really brilliant.

If it helps, I own it. =P I got stuck on Rue's quest and never ended up going back to it, though, lol.

The language was made up?? I just thought it was some obscure language that didn't get translated due to deadlines or something. How stupid is it to not translate your own made up language?

Also, for those of you that put Beyond Good and Evil; I agree, it's an excellent game.

I too love this game. Check out my comic to see if you can find the influence there. It should be pretty easy.

Well, to go more away from "games that didn't really catch on" to "games no one likes", I actually quite enjoyed Final Fantasy X-2, possibly more than Final Fantasy X. I just liked the more frenetic battle system, and the variety of what you could do with the Dressphere system. I just wish they had run with the ridiculousness of it all a bit more; it's like the game didn't know if it wanted to be absurdist or serious, and I enjoyed the really pointless nature of it more than I probably should have.

I really liked most games in the Tales series, Tales of Eternia however is that well known =/, I really liked it though, played it to death (even though the set-up is quite similiar to the other Tales series).
