I kinda like these types of 'competitive game' movies even though they're all the same cheap thrill. Death Race (either version), Running Man, Mean Guns, and that japanese series with the high schoolers killing each other (edit: Battle Royale, that was it!)... all pretty much the same, but basically fun.
I prefer it when the characters are a bit more thematic though rather than some, so I think Running Man was the best of em.

When I saw the trailer in the theater, this just looked really lame to me. The premise is pretty stupid.

It feels like everything I've already seen. The minor twist that it's a game doesn't do much for me. Yeah, I'll probably still see it, but still. The trailer doesn't make me really want to see it.

yeah odds are instead of actually making any sort of meaningful statement about a system like this, the movie will waste time with cool sfx, tough guy one liners, some lame storyline about sme guys gf, and alot of ludacris screen time

I'd automatically not even consider it just for that song but then I remembered marketing people are generally dipshits who sit on a computer and copy paste a formula so they can leave work early.
I don't think the premises is all that bad, but I'm going to judge it based on the camera quality that it's a "blockbuster" which means the story isn't even going to matter anyway and it's just going to be another Michael Bay fairy tale with every color of the grit and explosion spectrum.

INSIDE HOUSE We see Kid playing his XBOX shooting people. Suddenly, too men burst through the wall after being killed by a bazooka. The kid looks outside to see the main character performing the same actions he was in his game. KID "Whoa."
