why? I think the funny/weird part is that he's disguising his real manner of speaking-- putting on an accent-- when he's telling the news. Why does he have to do that, I wonder?

It isn't the fact he got all upset, it's how he did it and how he sounded. He went from what people would racistly refer to as a "white accent" to being "black".
