Cloverfield (shut up it was awesome)
Honey and Clover (that part where he sets his statue on fire to show her that he doesn't care about the money... it was so beautiful. I cried.)
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle (no I don't care that it wasn't like the book at all. hmph)
The City of Ember (just saw it this weekend and it was surprisingly good!)

Waking Life
Anything by David Cronenberg
Anything by George A Romero
American Psycho
Back To The Future
Uhhh! I can't just squish it all down into directors! It'd be easier just to use genres.

American Psycho
I couldn't stand the movie because I read the book numerous times, although I was able to enjoy rules of attraction after reading the book...but the Less then Zero movie got turned into an after school special, which the book was not even close too. But I recommend instead of watching movies based on Brett Easton Elis' books just read the books I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I'm way ahead of you. I'm currently reading American Psycho for the second time and I have read Lunar Park. I still love the film for its excellent portrayal of the events in the book despite the obvious need for cuts and the flawless performance by Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman.
Don't jump to conclusions.

Agreed. It fulfills my desire for amazing animation, dream imagery and interesting dialogue without the conventions that hold back modern cinema.

I didn't mean to jump to conclusions, I am so used to mentioning reading a book to somebody and getting the response of "Who reads these days?" :)
I have yet to read Lunar Park,I want to though.
BTW, have you heard about American Psycho being turned into a musical?

He sings, he dances, he commits horrific acts of torture, murder and cannibalism: Patrick Bateman, the disturbed protagonist of “American Psycho,†is slated to slice his way onto Broadway in a musical adaptation of the 1991 Bret Easton Ellis novel, Variety reported. Rights for a musical version of “American Psycho,†about a 1980s-era investment banker turned serial killer with an abiding affection for the music of Phil Collins, were acquired by the Johnson-Roessler Company; the Collective, a management and production firm; and XYZ Films. Christian Bale, above, played Bateman in the 2000 film version. No announcements have been made about the Broadway creative team or cast.
