Mine would be Nothing Nice To Say, about four or five years ago, followed by Oh My Gods and Movie Punks. Shortly after that came CAD, which I'm still keeping track of.

For as far as I know, Movie Punks is still on 'hiatus', but I wouldn't know aboyt NN2S and OMG's...
Currently I constantly keep track of about 5 non-DD webcomics (CAD, VG Cats, QC, BTC and LICD), and I've got a list of about 20 DD fav's.

So, where do you start?

Hmm, let's see... Ctrl+Alt+Del was the first webcomic I ever read, followed by Megatokyo and... some others. Dun remember when I started reading most.
I am NOT counting again right now, but I've got about... Eh, 35 webcomics that I read and check regularly.
But CAD's always been my favorite. =D

Sluggy Freelance , I think, although I've completely lost track of it in the last few years and I'm too lazy to read back through the archives.

I remember there was a kid back in highschool...early 90s... had a picture that he had drawn and he faxed it into the computer some how...it was very grainey...block like, but it was there.
There it was, protected behind the glass monitor, no bullies could rip it up, no teachers could toss it in the trash no dirt or lead smudges could get to it....it was preserved...
It wasn't a web comic, but,

I was hooked, I had to do this....I had to get my art on the computer.
over time, I finally got a computer and started to do my thing.

the first real web comic I remember reading was

Jerkbox and Punk Head.

That's the first one read, too! At least of webcomics in English. I read some obscure stuff in Polish, before that. I first read Sluggy back in 2003, and went through the archive of two years in a matter of a couple of weeks. But then I got bored at some point. Last time I checked, sometime this year, it was still up and running.

Truth be told, I'm not really sure. I think it was probably GU Comics or 8-Bit-Theater.

I think......mine. XD
Seriously, I think I was posting webcomics before I even knew others existed.

The only one I can think of that I've been reading a LONG time that still exists is Darkbolt .

No idea which was the first one I became aware of, but the first one that really impressed me with its quality was Digger at Graphic Smash.

Great art, engaging story and sympathetic characters ... excellent stuff and, in my opinion, still probably the best story-driven comic on the web. Apart from mine, obviously!

I can't remember the first one I read (probably Maakies) but the one I followed from start to finish and keep reading is Minus. One of the most beautiful and entertaining web comics (nominated for an eisner but probably lost to Penny Arcade GODAMMIT). I love the style and It's one of my main sources of inspiration.

EDIT: Minus lost against PvP... which isn't at bad but still angers me. I can't stand video game comics for whatever reason but that's probably because I haven't found one that appeals to me.

I can't really remember.

Though during the old old days I remember reading the following comics:

- 3 Pillars (it had an orange-haired girl with long hair)
- GodHand (post-apocalytic story)
- Vampire Phantasm (its here at drunkduck)
- Saturnalia (cool stuff)
- Unholy Halfbreed (I laughed so hard reading this.)
- Bilaran Wars and Severance (by Subcultured)

Penny Arcade

(I never really read any webcomics until my brother told me to upload my comic pages. I didn't know there were communities or anything... Just not an avenue of the internet I ever wandered into before.)

My first webcomic I read was 8-Bit Theater, then Akuma the Hedgehog's comic on the MG, then Feeling Rushed on the MG, then I moved to DrunkDuck, and the first comic I read here was JunoBlairB's Star Crossed Destiny.

I currently have 79 DrunkDuck Faves. I'm easily pleased.
I once tried to smoke lettuce. It rocked!!

My first web comic was CAD, followed by The Exile (which I now help with). Then I got into Sinfest, Penny Arcade, The Digital Pimp Online, and Boxcar Comics.

And now I read way too many web comics.... ;)

If you're trying to get through all the archives to play catch up, it can be a little overwhelming. Maintaining the reading is less so. I have to have like 50 comics faved on here already....

Yeah, the catching up can be a bitch. One at the time will get you there though. And my DD fav's steadily keep increasing all the time...
