This just shows how valuable a tablet can be to any artist. Both drawings look great.

idk how i feel about it so far. it makes all my inks look super "wet" like ive just dipped the brush into the ink jar over and over. theres no room for dry brush effect or splatter. but i do like the ability to just click undo and do instant white ink over an area where i laid blacks down. we'll see where this goes. Im inking a kirby drawing right now to get a feel for this.

I love the underdrawing on the first one- one of my favorite things about lookin' at other people's work is seeing how they build their drawings up. The line variation is nice, too.

The "instant white" would be awesome, man. It'd change my work completely if I could do that. ;)

Whoa! The bottom one actually looks like you drew it traditionally! Great work!

If/when I get a tablet, at some point, I might make the switch to digital. Don't know for sure yet. But it might be nice.

I'm so used to working traditionally, so I dunno.

But great work NickGuy!

Those look pretty good to me for the first time out.

I got a tablet recently, and while I like it, and have even done a couple of entire pages with it. To me there are just certain things that you can only produce the old fashioned way. I mainly use mine for coloring, as it speeds that process up a lot for me.

I love the flow of the shapes in both. Lovely bold lines in the second version.

I haven't run across Paint.NET before -- but from your work it looks like it can be used for inking with some nice results.

Updates Thursdays.

yeah i dont think theres a splatter option, or a dry brush effect option. everything looks like i just loaded up the brush with a ton of ink, and makes it look wet and slick. Im trying to figure out how to force it to be wrong.

i love being able to simply undo lines, and the white on black stuff though.

My only suggestion would be to look for different tutorials online about adjusting the brushes for the program your using. I know they have a bunch for Photshop, I assume they have some for Paint.net. I downloaded the trial for OpenCanvas as well, that's a pretty good program and much cheaper than Photoshop. I think it's like 50 or 60 bucks.

While I still haven't found a good looking splatter option (but have seen people do it digitally so it should be somehow possible), you can get something that looks "drybrushy" enough to look good if you tweak the brush settings in Photoshop (or better yet, tweak them and save them as your own so that you don't have to recreate everything each time).

I'm using custom brushes for coloring usually (volito2 isn't good enough to do full art unfortunately, but I do some corrections from time to time).

Wow, looks like you're gettin' the hang of it real quick-like. :D That Kirby drawing is the heat. And I love how atmospheric and dark the KFK crew looks.

I absolutely love the KFK portraits. Luis looks like he's ready to kick some ass. Curtis looks pissed. And the other two look plain bad-ass. Great job man!

try making your own brushes. You can make some really effective and realistic brushes with just a series of circles and messing with brush settings.

yeah ive found i really dont like drawing with the smaller brush settings. it makes everything look too "typical digital work" for me. I like the big chunky ink look of the large fat brushes.

alright this will be the last digital piece i show in this thread, anyone whos interested in seeing my further progress with my digital drawings can come to my KFK blog! :)

To me, personally, these two definitely show how much you're improving. Your inks are getting better and better.

I especially like the bottom one, because I can actually see and feel that Goku is going Super Sayian.

Also, the KFK page that you posted up there looks a lot cleaner, which is pretty cool! You should try doing some light grey toning. See how it looks (kind of like my comic, but not nearly that heavy)
I think it'd look really good that way, especially since your style is like a mix of Manga and American comic books.
Great work man!

Here is one of my first attempts:

and then these are my more recent computer-drawn pics. (All with a mouse)

This is from a cool Kanye video; Flashing Lights

This is The Knux, they are a pretty cool band

Mad Max. If you haven't seen this movie, or at least the 2nd one, go see it. It is a FINE piece of Australian cinema, and has influenced many many many movies.

This was a mini-fancomic I did for Fruits Basket three years ago, just around the time I got my tablet.

Considering how bad my old non-digital drawings are, I still think this looks alright.

Also...Rocketeer fanart ftw, NickGuy!

cool stuff guys!

Parker farker, your stuff doesnt even LOOK digital, which is fantastic! Im still trying to get the "non digital" look off my work.

Korosu, Im envious of people like you that can pull off that "effortless manga" style.

heres two more for the crap pile.
