Gags, gamer, epic fantasy... I don't need it right now..
I'm looking for good drama comics that are tragic (people die, angst, madness, corruption..good stuff.)
Something like Jack http://www.pholph.com/ (except it doesn't have to be furry.)
going away - Comic Discussion (Print & Web!)
Find me real tragic webcomics.

Ethereal's a great one for sad, real-life drama:

2Masters is fantasy, but it's pretty grim:

Beauty Into Beast is a nice, tragic, completed webcomic.
Used Books is mostly a drama, but the characters are not terribly melodramatic, at least not for any length of time. There's death, betrayal, madness, etc. (It's definitely not gags and fantasy.)

God, I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but my own does have drama... though I try to make some light of it.
http://www.drunkduck.com/Something_Like_Life/index.php?p=220921 has a big shift in the drama... but again, at the end of the page, there is a bit of relief from it.
also, http://www.drunkduck.com/Chooken/ has a TON of drama, death, and violence.
So... yeah.

I hope you like it :)

I second Trevor's "Temple of a Thousand Tears" -

Other than that, I don't read many tragic sorts of comics.

Its not on drunkduck, but Black Tapestries might be up your alley.
Its _quite_ brutal. Although the artist has been on hiatus for a while and is doing some filler right now, jump back into the archives and read from the beginning.

I looked through all my favorites & none of them are all that tragic. Actually, none of them strike me as tragic. The only one I can nominate is (with apologies to Skullbie) my own book, Broken Things . It's about a teenage boy in the backwoods of Kentucky, whose father apparently murdered his mother, & continues to abuse the boy and his younger sister. The boy's beset by bully's in high school, and the town sheriff is pressuring him to roll on his abusive dad. Sounds tragic, I guess.
Good luck on your search.
Later,
Chip

Try Nadya. The thing starts -out- with a tragedy. She's dead.
Also, Charna's husband was murdered, and everyone's got something wrong with them.

Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.
Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.

Wow almost everyone plugged their own comic! :0
I wonder if people can identify tragedy within their own stories but recognize and remember the happier moments and humor in stories they read... Most of the comics on my Favorites list have some (or a ton of) sadness/tension in them or downright horrific moments, but I'd hesitate to call them tragic or tragedies. Well-written "serious" stories tend to have a full range of joy and sadness. (Honestly, I'd quickly lose interest in a story that lacked either.)

Faust has some pretty serious stuff in it. If you're familiar with the story it's based on, then you'll know already that it ain't a happy tale.

Here's a comic that's not a plug(gasp!), It's tragic and at the same time incredibly well-written/well drawn.

You've probly already seen it before though. :P

Fullmoon stories
http://www.drunkduck.com/Fullmoon_Stories/
from the ones that I've read that's the most tragic of all, plus the art is very dark too. 3 stories already up, a 4th is currently updating... about 12 pages each story (you'll read it in 1 day)

This is probably one of the most tragic stories I am reading atm xD Very sad what happens to the main character and his family.
http://drunkduck.com/The_Faction
It's tragic xD Noone major has died in it yet, but the story takes place in a world where there's constant war/death, where they have very little food and other vital resources, and the two main characters are escape felons (expecting to bring a child in to a world they can barely survive in) :s I would call it a tragedy :3
