It's like every other sprite comic I've seen. THE END.

I assume that's supposed to be a joke, Mr. lukee, otherwise I don't know how the hell you managed to be a mod with that attitude of yours. Like it or not, he's a member of Drunk Duck.

Anyways, PandaJoe, your comic so far has been rather uninspired. Seeing as you're putting in backgrounds your next time around, I won't harp on that, and I'll even help you get some if you need more.

Your issues are:

Predictable.

It's been as predictable as a newspaper comic strip so far. The whole "Hateful smart guy and jolly idiot" thing is stale and has been used in far too many comics. So I'd change their personalities. Butz could be an idiot about say... magic, but when it comes to Chobobos, he's a friggin master. Bring in that Chocobo he used to ride, have him and Galuf breed chocobos or something.

Minor low quality text.

While you've generally kept punctuation, you've missed it a few times in your latest strip, Faking Death, so a simple proofread will be able to fix that. Also, in the second to last panel of Faking Death, you cut off the part of the g in "knights" and centered it for some reason. Avoid that. I'm glad you're making text bubbles and are spelling correctly, so many new comics have that issue it's nice to see one that doesn't.

No facial editing.
I've worked with Final Fantasy sprites before, and while I know they have small heads, you can still make emotions for them. Galuf should have had a lot of variations in his expressions in Faking Death and that would've made the comic a bit nice to look at. Also, make open mouths whent he characters talk.

That's all I can think of so far. If you can get away from predictability, I'm sure you could make something nice. :D

Tater Salad, I expected better from you. I thought you made that mock sprite comic because you wanted to show people how silly cliche ideas are and really meant to help folks out having difficulty with a comic.

To your credit, your comics are part of the 2% though.

Hmph. While I appreciate the compliment, I guess I was wrong about you caring. My mistake not knowing your comic was simply mockery instead of satire. No matter. I'm not going to give up helping that other "98%" so I hope that number of crappy comics begins to decline on your list. :wink:

I think I might scrap the comic and come up with a new and better one this time i'll take the time to work at it.

That's the thing. You sprite authors are the bitchiest people I have ever seen. Whether it's complaining that someone "stole" your comic which you basically stole from the game creators in the first place, to flaming each other over stupid shit, to claiming people just hate sprites period.

I don't hate sprites, I hate shitty comics. As I've said, it just so happens that yours are both.

This is nothing against Panda though, from what I've seen he seems to be a nice and decent individual so far. It's just that sprite authors in general spark my ire.

I totally (and objectively) agree. Sprite authors have a habit of being total bitchtards. The problem with this comic was not necessarily the sprites, but more of the fact that the plot sucks. I mean, imagine if Knock on Wood had Yellow getting mad because Green's a commie EVERY SINGLE DAY. It would go from being a totally awesome comic to a totally crap comic. But, since my characters are round (hahaha not funny), there are many different personality traits to play on for plots (for example: green has some form of mental disorder which causes him to hallucinate and have occasional amnesia, and Yellow has deep-seated familial issues).

LESSON HERE: Sprite artists should take it easy (PandaJoe, you seem to be rational enough), and should work on character development.

Fair enough. I know all about that whole "You stole my sprites now die in the fires of hell" people. And I also know about the people who can't take anything but a blindly rated 5. But you have to understand, your entire tone in your first post just dripped discouragement and you said nothing else. Same with you, Tater Salad. What on earth did you expect me to say about that? Nice job, way to stick to the guy? Hell, you could have at least said "your plot sucks, get something original" and it would've been more constructive. Sorry I had to harp on you, but you finally gave him a reason for not liking it now. Didn't take very long, did it? :wink:

I'm not trying to come off as some eternal victim, lot of comics need work. Only a handful of comics can pull off the low quality look and still be amusing, so I operate under the assumption that they're not deliberately trying to be bad.

And my apologies to you for coming off as a "whiny bitch/fucktard/asshat/scum." But I don't like seeing people try to put down others on here. Has nothing to do with being a spriter. If I would have saw you say the same damn thing to a drawn comic, I would've gotten pissed then too. I just happen to be more active in the sprite comic area because when I comment, I like to be able to say exactly what needs to be fixed. Can't do that for a drawn comic because I don't know of any drawing techniques.

And I would appreciate a civil argument. So far you've just been incredibly condescending towards me because I made the mistake of assuming you made that comic to show people who silly they were instead of mocking them. My mistake, I'm not on these forums much, so I didn't know.

Meh for ever once everybody makes mistakes...like all of us when we first sprite comic or w/e, but everybody needs time to think and sprite whatever you want. Mostly its the sprite which they said. Its not bull-"crap" but its fine for now.

I'm not a huge sprite fan. But yeah.....it was cool and junk.

Personally I've got to say I'm done with the whole sprite comic thing. I think people should make their own pixle art. That way, even if they can't draw, it's still their own stuff. And pixle art ain't hard to do. Just google a tutorial for it and get MS Paint (although if you have Photoshop then MS Paint is useless).

Great a completley unexceptional sprite comic, really what is there that would make me want to read this comic AT ALL let alone over all the other sprite comics or heck how about all the NOT sprite comics?

With the new rules in the forum now about "crits" and "plugs" I think it'd be a good idea to save all this "Brutal honesty" for people who actually ask for it.

Your comic is dull an unorigional, there are hundreds of similar sprite comics almost exactly like it, i would not consider reading it unless it either gets better looking, better written or in some way different to the 1001 other Final fantasy sprite comics you can find on DD.
