Hey, guys. I was wondering if you like horror movies. Every horror movie gives kids nightmares which is bizarre. So can you tell me what is your favorite horror movie? I bet you like horror movies, Huh?

Legacyhero and i are doing a Kid Intense/Hero Force crosover which will be a blast. Also, we are teaming up for a Kid Intense movie. Tell me what you think of the crossover and the movie we are teaming up.

This is a tough question. I narrowed it down to three that I feel are good picks.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - the original
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Dawn of the Dead - again the original

I don't have one particular favorite horror movie....so...
Evil Dead
Demons
Night of the Living Dead
The Exorcist I & III
Ju-On: The Curse (very first TV version of Ju-On)
I guess those are my top ones, in no particular order.

I never really watch horror movies but I have a few favorites:
Hostel
Misery
Uh...yeah, those are the only two movies I've seen that can be considered horror.

Are you kidding me?! Hostel?! Never has a movie pissed me off so much than that one. Just god-awful! Everyone involved in that film should be banished from existence!

Yeeeep, that's usually the response I get everytime I mention that movie to someone, and I can see why. It was 1/2 naked women and 1/2 cutting people up just for fun. And it didn't have much of an ending other than "Oh, look. I think I finally killed the bad guy. Let the credits roll!"
I take back what I said about it being my favorite. I need to watch what I type more often...

I rarely watch horror, and if I do I have usually been swindled into watching it... though I suppose Poltergeist was pretty creepy to me. (of course I was about 12 when I saw it so...).
This probably qualifies as a thriller more than horror, but the closes to the genre I can think of is The Others with Nicole Kidman. She should have gotten the Oscar for that, not Moulin Rouge.
That movie rocked.

Unfortunately, what passes for horror is generally slasher flicks which I don't care for at all. I prefer my horror to be more psychological than visual. Horror should mess with your mind, not just make you flinch from all the blood flying. Which is why I love the old thrillers. They weren't graphic. The original Psycho will keep me out of the shower for weeks after watching it.

LOL. I'll take baths instead. Jeesh. It's not so bad in my bathroom now, I have one of those glass showers but when I had the shower with the shower curtain, after watching "Psycho" I took only baths for awhile. What can I say? I have an overactive imagination.

I agree with the first and last in that statement. I havn't seen NOES (lol) so I wouldn't know either way. Zombie films are the greatest horrors.
JACK FROST 2 ZOMG.
Please, please, you give me too little credit.

The Ring and Saw are my top favorites. Sadly American horror flicks are more about having things pop out from behind corners (startling, but not scary,) or cutting people up (gross, but not scary.) Saw and the Ring were actually good because they messes with my head and genuinely made me afraid. Asian horror movies are better on the whole I think. Phone, (a Korean film,) was especially creepy.

Thats true. The big thing is, there are differences between horror, thriller, psychological thriller, etc, etc. Theres a big difference between something like Pyscho or Frenzy and something like a Freddy Krueger movie. I liked a couple Freddy Krueger movies, and the Jason movie murders that Savini did are legend, but its apples and oranges guys. Freddy Krueger (even with REALLY shitty sequels) is an awesome film villain. You hear him say "THIS, is god!" and then cut of his hand, he's got the super long arms for no real reason, he jumps out of nowhere, 80s synthesizer soundtrack, its a great flick. Now watch something Hitchcock did, like Rear Window, its a whole different kind of horror. Its not about a guy jumping out (although, a guy does jump out, sort of) and its more of a thinking kind of movie. Generally, I think of the more cerebral stuff like Read Window and Pyscho as thrillers rather than horror films. The line kind of blurs at points.
To touch on Hostel, it wasn't good. The advertisements absolutely ruined my opinion of the game. When you've got Tarintino (who I've deemed has gone fucking fruit loops) saying this is the most epic and brutal film ever, all the previews say shit like "this movie is the scariest shit ever!", and then it turns out to be a pretty basic exploitation movie. Not the good kind like John Carpenter did (like Halloween or Assault on Precint 13). Hostel can't figure out the fuck it wants to be. Its more convulted than Cabin Fever (which I gave a positve review. I could clearly see what he wanted to do, an old school kind of horror movie that geniunely had some batshit crazy moments) Hostel has only one moment of win in the whole hour or two that it ran. Takaishi Miike walks by and says "hey don't go in there, its dark." and walks away. No one I know in real life has any idea who the fuck he was or what that meant, but for me, that was epic. It was a lot like the game Fable for me. I went in with expectations for something so amazing and great, and then it wasn't quite what I wanted it to be. Had a lot of potential, but it turned out really shitty. I can see how normal non-internet people would think seeing the girls eye get cut out would be a gross scary moment (the girl shaving flesh off her legs in cabin fever was ten times greater though) and it just didn't work. Horror movie can have humor in them, but Hostel spent almost an hour doing nothing. It worked in Dusk Til Dawn for their to be no horror elements because their was a whole lot of great stuff going on, action, explosions, etc etc. Hostel had stuff you already seen in eurotrip, and an annoying icelander. The jokes were all bland "lol europeans are naked!" or "lol fuck this girl, I'm going to get laid" then the ending felt really forced. It basicly said "well he was just some pussy american guy, but now he's a killer too, because its okay to just kill people." and thats bullshit. It was as awful as Death Proof's ending, and it just was NOT a good horror film, comedy film, or even a good movie. I'm basing this on the theatrical release, as I don't watch movies I didn't like unrated on DVD. Its like these guys have no idea how to do a fucking horror movie.
The guy that remade the hills have eyes seems to have his shit together. It was more of an action movie like the Dawn of the Dead remake, but it was still fairly cool. I'll probably see the sequal when it gets to video, but I could really give a shit less. Already seen Wes Craven (whose occasionally brilliant, see Serpant & the Rainbow if you need proof of his greatness, but avoid pretty much everything else. Scream I felt was kind of a re-hash of new nightmare without Freddy Krueger. Kind of cool, but meh. All the slashers that came out after it had the worst villains and I'm just going to keep ranting I guess.
So my point is, David Cronenberg movies can be scary, but they ain't horror movies.
Some more movies I'd suggest that are horror flicks -
Jaws - Its a classic, but sequels ruined it.
Bubba Ho Tep - Bruce Cambell could just have a movie of him yelling at people and throwing his own feces and it would somehow be awesome. Don Canstonella (spelled wrong, I'm sure) has done some excellent work with the first few Phantasm movies (I'd say it peaked at part 2, three had some cool stuff, but 4 was terrible) and I enjoyed Beastmaster. So yeah.
Masters of Horror - its a TV show on showtime. Major horror directors (including my favorite, John Carpenter who did 2 great episodes) do a tales from the crypt/darkside kind of thing where they do any kind of story they want with no real restrictions. Takishi Miike did an episode that rivaled anything that was in Hostel. Hostel didn't have rape or bamboo being shoved under teenage prostitutes fingernails or people being burned under their arms with candles, I really wanted to see the end of the episode but I had to leave and then somehow my copy of it got lost. It was banned from showtime, to give you an idea of how wild it was. The second season had some good stuff too. Some are funny, some are gory, some are just interesting stories (like one in season 2 about Edger Allen Poe), its just a good show. Probably outside of South Park, The O'riley Factor, and maybe My Name is Earl. Its one of the few good things on TV.

The Grudge - Scared the living Bejeezus out of me
The Ring - First real horro flick that made me sleep with the lights on (for three days) My brother got so scared; the night he saw the movie on the big screen, he saw it late, he came home and slept on the couch. He must have hit the reomote or something but the TV in the living room turned on to nothing but static. He got so scared he got up turned the TV off and slept in my room!!!
Boogieman - This was more a suspense sort of deal, but it still scared the shit out of me...
The Others - ooooh. that one was pretty intense for me. Again, suspense but it still gives me chills.
INFECTION - This one is a English Subbed Japanese Film. Never really hit it off in the states, but it's a mind twister. Fucks with you, that sort of one. I REALLY suggest it, it's a great film.
The Poltergeist - The moving steak in the kitchen still gives me the chills to this day.
Gory movies don't affect me that much, but BLACK CHRISTMAS...Oh god I almost threw up in the theater. Scary, surprising, and just plain sick.

But Ju-on is probably my favorite. haha.
Asian horror is the best. XD *still needs to watch the original ring*

I don't care what any of you say, but I really loved the remake of 'The Hills Have Eyes'...there's something about how that guy fought back so determinedly for his daughter that just got me rooting for him....
and there's Ravenous, which is an incredibly under-rated film. I suggest watching it if you haven't seen it, right now. Go on, get the movie and watch it. I'm serious. Watch it.
Return of the Living Dead isn't really a horror flick, but man...I love that movie. And the sequal. The rest of them sucked.
28 Days Later. Freaks me out. Every time.
The Eye, this film...well it made me a lot jumpier than The Ring or Ringu. This is by far one of the BEST asian horror flicks that I have ever watched. It doesn't scare me when I watch it anymore, but man is it fun to introduce a friend to the movie and watch his or her reactions.
And The Thing is just, frankly...a classic.
There are plenty of others, but these are the movies I have been able to watch several times without getting bored.

First off, how is "The Grudge" scary?! Think about it, if everyone wasn't such a puss in the movie, it wouldn't even be scary! It's just a four-foot tall kid! I mean, you could just kick it, or something!
The scariest movie I've ever seen... I don't know. I must have seen hundreds over the years.
