If I have to choose one, I'd go for Kazuki and Tokiko from Busou Renkin! They looks so good together!

Why would anyone like these two? Kaoru is so stereotypical I can puke.
There's just nothing deep between these two AFAIC.
Kenshin wants to settle down and have a peaceful life, and Kaoru is an good-hearted girl with a peaceful-esque livelihood. So he settles. Ok I get.
Kaoru has no man around. Kenshin is a sweet guy who does chores and can be manly too, and has an emo side to boot. Ok I see how that works.
Throw in some supervillains and some shonen posing, and you get an epic romance? Not.

I've only watched Rouroni Kenshin sporadically, but I did like that OVA muchly. It's one I would save to show to non-anime friends/relatives. With others such as Guardian of the Sacred Spirit.

I wasn't thinking we were to mention couples involved in epic romance. I thought we were to mention just what couples are appealing to us. :) I just like the way these two interact when they are not being slapstick. I like Kenshin and how his background story affects his current tolerance, and I like Kaoru and how she can bring so much force into an interaction and still be cuddly.

I am not sure that there is nothing deep between them. Just because they don't throw huge dramatic speeches and leave many things unsaid does not mean there is no chemistry/interaction between them. Simply the fact that they do everything and anything to stay together is an interesting element implying all sorts of interactions. Also they are an allusion to the yin-yang interaction, only they are both benevolent. Kenshin has a shadow around him, whereas she is fully innocent.

It may not have been fully explored by Watsuki, but that does not mean it was not there. But maybe I just read too much into it because I am a writer, and I can see all the ramifications and potential there can be in a set of characters.

Personally I don't think the author put anything deep in there, BUT I can agree on your opinion that their interaction is fun and has good screen chemistry, albeit often for the expressed purpose of slapstick.

Heh, nearly all of my favorite couples are tragic in some way or from. *shrugs* I like drama.

Lucy/Nyuu and Kouta from Elfen Lied. Their relationship was so complicated and there was so many issues with it that I found it both amusing and endearing. Kouta was just always so forgiving and Lucy was so helpless despite being dangerous.

Misuzu and Yukito from Air TV. He finds the girl of his dreams, literally. Despite it being too late to save her, he still tries to spend time with her.

Asuka and Shinji from Evangelion. Do I need to explain what makes this relationship so messed up? Still it is one of my favorites.

Misato and Kaji from Evangelion. It was just funny how no matter what they did to each other they would still end up in bed together, that is, until he was mysteriously killed.

Kagero and Jubei from Ninja Scroll. Sad but still, they both kicked a lot of ass before she died.

Yuusuke and Keiko from Yuu Yuu Hakusho. He was so slow to catch on to the fact that she loved him but he finally figured it out. They just seem to be really devoted to each other.

Spike and Julia from Cowboy Bebop. For some star-crossed lovers, they were badass. If they had met under different circumstances, who knows?

Usagi and Mamoru from Sailor Moon. They're the quintessential anime couple. Usagi even stops whining near the end of the series which makes her a whole lot better than Miaka or Kagome.

Tohru and Kyo from Fruits Basket. Tohru is so sweet that even a jerk like Kyo has to like her.

Anna and Yoh from Shaman King. They have such a mature relationship. It's far beyond the mean girl/wimpy guy thing that tends to appear in anime.
