Fantastic Four animated series on Toonami
jalford
at 3:14AM, Aug. 30, 2006
The pilot for the new Fantastic Four animated series will premiere this Saturday night on Cartoon Network during their Toonami lineup at 8:00 PM. This will be an all new series which will feature the regular villains of Dr. Doom, Mole Man, and Puppet Master. Although Human Torch is in the cast for this series, there will also be the addition of Herbie who was a robot character used in the 1970s cartoon series. It is being produced by Moonscope, the same production company that did Code: Lyoko. This is slated to be a 26-episode animated series to run on Cartoon Network this season.

I'll check it out, but Marvel animated series haven't been very good that I've seen.

They were good way back when. In the old days of X-men and Spider-man. Then they got all... gimicky. But this has potential, I'll have to try and see it somehow.

The problem is I hate that Code Lyoko show. I just hope they make this a good. Either way I don't care so much about Marvel characters. But it was the DC Animated shows that made me care about DC characters, so maybe if they do this right...

I dunno if that means that the Fan 4 will go all "digital" when the fighting breaks out. As least Human Torch is actually in this one. I find it weird that they they replaced him with Herbie in the 70s series when they thought too many kids would try setting themselves on fire, but they DID keep Human Torch in the original 60s TV series. This new one is the 4th Fantastic Four animated series, not counting that crappy Thing/Flinstones cartoon from the 80s. I dunno if this is supposed to be connected to the new Ultimate Avengers animated storyline though.

I doubt it; though Reed does look closer to the age of his Ultimate counterpart.

I can't think of any non-comic Fantastic 4 media I've seen that didn't suck. And hard.

Actually, the 1960s series from Hanna-Barbera(the one that Human Torch was actually IN)wasn't so bad. It followed the comics pretty faithfully too. With appearances by Dr. Doom, Galactus, Super Skrull, etc., and no damn Herbie!

The one from the 60's was great. They had a string of marvel cartoons then that were quite faithful to the comics, and they all used the same "heavy" music at some point, which was really weird...
I don't have high hopes for this new version, but I'll totally watch it to see what it's all about.

I don't like Code Lyoko, so there are chances that I won't like this.
But the movie was great.

There's a '4' painted on The Thing's chest. That does not bode well with me.

I saw in the Wizard article they just did that it looks like Thing it wearing kimono pants. What, is he Samurai Jack?
When you get down to it though, F4 is the original "sentai" team. They were the first organized superhero group, and they all wear the same type outfit, minus the Thing.

I think it has some potential. I also find it interesting that, after listening to the Gigcast with Girl Wonder recently, that Susan appears to be in the most dynamic character pose in this (they discussed how she's usually hanging out in the background looking pretty on the covers of F4 comics).

I caught the second episode. I wan't all that impressed. The writing needs serious work. As it is, I prefer the 90's animated series over this new one.

every time a movie succeeds they make a crappy animated series about it, the animated series is so bad that eventually it gets canceled and a new one is made... But it will get its run with gullible kids who beleive a show when it tells them that its awesome... (I remember seeing little kids telling me how giggly puff from pokemon sings beutifully... because thats what they describe it as in the movie.. DOH!)
I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

The weird thing is that the first episode they aired happens chronologically after the second one. The first one they aired had Human Torch on trial by the Kree Empire and they showed a taped scene where Thing and Invisibke Woman were arguing with him. But that actual scene was in the following episoded that aired where Doom and Mr. Fantastic switched bodies.

Heh. That's pretty funny.
Yeah, this series isn't very impressive. The opening episode of a series should get poeple watching. It shouldn't just be 'average'.

I hear it's done pretty bad. The look is good, but the plot and writting is bad. Which is sad, the Fantastic Four have some great stories under their belt just waiting to be made into something bigger.

That's the first thing (no pun intended) I noticed too.
Makes me worry
I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles ".

Wow. The first episode of "The Batman" was a LOT better than any episode of Fantastic Four I've seen. And "The Batman" season 1 is one of the worst DC Toons. Doesn't bode well for this series or Marvel.

Although Sue Storm is certainly wearing her ovaries on the outside in this series!
Plus, they added on The Hulk. Any Thing/Hulk brawl is okay for me.
