'Ya know? I wasn't a big fan of the first one, but I can't wait to rent this one. I think it looks entertaining. Alba has always had bee stung lips (I remember thinking that when I watched, Dark Angel the last time.) With that tightpony tail, they are accentuated.
I love "Larry Fishburn and his adorable wife, Gina Torres. (I also appreciate the "mime" playin' the SS, he was one of the best parts of HellBoy (Plus, creeeeepy as one of The Gentlemen (In Buffy.) But, I love The Fantastic Four and I really WANT to like at least one of the movies.

Looks as stupid as the first one. If the Surfer is THAT powerful why does he even need to dodge the missiles? And his voice?!
Oh jeez!
Another comic ruined by Hollywood, next stop Watchmen.
No wonder Alan Moore won't touch the films they make of his stuff with a barge pole.

I think it looks kind of cool, but after the first one I don't trust Fantastic Four movies anymore. I never really read the Fantastic Four comics, but I always though Silver Surfer was a good guy.

I didn't realise the Silver Surfer was a villain either. But I've never picked up a single Fantastic Four comic, so I guess I wouldn't really know, lol. I'm not really interested in seeing the movie, though. I saw the first one and it kind of bored me, so chances are I won't bother seeing this one or any subsequent FF movies.

Meh, I'll watch it just because it's jam packed with high budget SFX. As long as it's not Daredevil or Ghost Rider bad, I can stomach it. FF4 #1 was not DD or GR level bad.
Surfer is not a hero until he breaks free of Galactus' control. Galactus is the planet eater and SS is just his herald. I think that's the general comic book background.
^Not really spoiler because every Marvel reader and his dog knows this.^

Galactus is supposed to be in the movie, but so far no footage or screenshots of him have been made. Dr.(not really a doctor)Doom is in it too. I hope Mole Man is in the 3rd one!

How do people not know Silver Surfer was originally a villain? I barely ever read print comics I knew that.

I'm a big fan of the old Fantastic Four comics during the John Burne era, so I'll definitely go and watch it. I enjoyed the first movie although id admit it was a bit silly here and there.

I read waaayyy to many comics...
The Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd, from the planet Zenn-La) was "employed by Galactus" (Galactus is like a big planet muncher) as his herald...But, only to save his own planet, sort of...so, he goes to Earth and ultimately betrays Galactus and is banished to Earth for his troubles. There. Silver Surfer in a nutshell.

Well, I haven't.. ever.. read any comics that he's been in, nor have I been interested enough in them to bother reading up on the characters. All I've seen are pictures of him looking heroic (not to mention, he's on the cover of a "Heroes of Marvel" calendar we sell at work), so therefore I assumed he was a hero. =p

Well, he IS a hero. But, his first plot-line is where he's the bringer of doom to earth and thus villian-ish. But, he only is the bringer of doom because becoming such saved his own planet anyways. (depending on what story line you read too, i guess)
Surfer's whole gig is not having the same morality (or really any) as earthlings and then his quest to become "good" and understand and even act like us. Even after all the conversion from enemy to ally w/ the fan4 and such... he still does some messed up stuff in the name of gaining/understanding human emotions and morality and such... like, when he falls in love and later experiences jealousy or how he often finds himself alone on the side of "the greater, long-term good"... like smushing a puppy to prevent a kid from getting a disease from it or something. Spidey would never do that... Surfer would (at times).
He also plays both sides of the fence... but generally he's doing so because he thinks it's "right and good"... though we as humans sometimes see things differently.
Really, Surfer is one of Marvel's better characters, i think. It was the authors' conduit to tackle some moral issues without attacking humanity directly. In our very liberal present day society, the silver surfer would probably never have been created.

I've heard Galactus may have more in line with his ultimate version than the main continuity. I also heard he may just be a cloud. What the fuck.
