Stumbled across this from back in October 07 when I was planning on publishing a zine called E.E. The idea for the first issue was to get as many people to write mini-manifestos as I could. Thought it was kinda interesting:

The Exquisitor's Edict
The Exquisitor has one edict, one guiding principle, one core mantra. The Exquisitor brings the Awesome.

The Awesome is exuberant. The Awesome is vibrant. The Awesome is a genuine expression of reality, an undeniable appreciation of existence. The Awesome is vital; to look on it is to look on life itself. The Awesome is experience, raw and real.

There is Awesome everywhere, but it's not something that can be found. If it were, it would thoroughly documented, scientifically studied, dissected and retrospected. We live in an Inquisitorial world.

The Inquisitorial mind is a scientific mind. To understand something, the Inquisitor looks inside it to understand how it works, searching for meaning deeper inside the microcosm. The Exquisitorial mind doesn't look for knowledge from inside a thing. The Exquisitor draws knowledge out from a thing.

The Exquisitor is just as curious about the world as the Inquisitor, but the Exquisitor doesn't look for answers. Nay, the Exquisitor creates actions. Where the Inquisitor examines, the Exquisitor manifests.

The Inquisitor consumes knowledge, digesting understanding. The Inquisitor breathes in. The Exquisitor, by contrast, actively explores their world. Knowledge is made manifest in action. The Exquisitor breathes out.

For these reasons, the Inquisitor may come to understand the Awesome. The Inquisitor may document the Awesome, or comment on it. For all the knowledge the Inquisitor may find inside the Awesome, though, it is the Exquisitor who trule has the capacity to manifest that knowledge; after all, unmanifested Awesome is hardly Awesome at all.

Be Exquisite. Bring the Awesome. This is the edict. This is the call to action.

I'm actually having a hard time figuring out what topic or issue you're trying to debate with this post. And I'm not sure what forum section it would be more suited for if it's not a debate topic, either. Could you please clarify what issue you're trying to debate here?

Ok, think of it as a philosophical statement. It's taking the world and categorizing it in a certain way. Do you agree with what's being said? Disagree? Have some other reflection on the subject?

I don't understand enough of what's being said to agree or disagree. I'm really having a hard time finding substance in this for debate.

Eh, one of the reasons to have moderators is to help keep the body of content cohesive. If it doesn't make sense, or is inappropriate, do your thing. I was just looking back at some old documents and thought it might make an interesting discussion prompt if anyone found it engaging in any way, but it doesn't look like that's happening.

In general, if 100% of response to a thread is over whether or not the thread is appropriate, as opposed to a response to the content itself, then the question of whether of not it's appropriate is academic. So, instead of inciting discussion, this is just taking up the top spot in the forum. Not my original intention.
