Am I the only one here who has lost an entire comic page because the power flickered right as you were saving? Please tell me I'm not.

This has me pissed as fuck. I dropped a shitpile of time into my newest friggin' page and lost it all while saving it because of a goddamn 2 second power outage!

i've done that before..even lost some pages when my computer crashed. now i have multiple copies on my external hardrive and on DVDs. i would never put anything important in an internal hardrive again. it's harder to get it out.

On my old computer, I would occaisionally get the spontaneous program error in the middle of saving. It was kind of like Russian Roulette whenever I saved something. And of course, it would corrupt the file and I'd have to start all over. I got into the habit of alternating saves between two file names. That way, I always had one non-corrupted file.

I still do that today, even though I haven't had any save issues on my newer computer (which is now getting old).

Normally that would work, but for me it was a power outage WHILE saving that did my page in... :(

I'm a compulsive saver too, and I still managed to lose a page or two. =( They got corrupted from something - fortunetely my newer computers don't do that anymore.

my computer has some virus so it turns off every once in a while... I used to lose my work all the time, but now I have a sort of psychosis where I keep my left hand on ctrl+s and just save whenever I do anything. I hardly notice when I save anymore...
heh....

Never lost a whole page. I've lost work from Photoshop closing (usually just a few history state's worth). The bastard closes sometimes when I'm using "alt click" on my tablet pen to get a match colour, it's pretty rare, but I always Ctrl+S every time I pause in the middle of something and after every few Alt clicks. I've lost writing before from word processing documents that've shut-down due to bugs or because something weird happened to my old laptop, so I've always done frequents saves of whatever I'm working on.

Currently I save the different major comic stages separately, and then back them all up to an external drive and then back them up later onto another computer. The only trouble I have is occasionally a illustrator document won't open in Illustrator due to "errors". Luckily I can still edit them through Adobe Acrobat. ;)

Back when I was doing a digital art unit at Uni the damn Power Macs just couldn't handle the workload... (old pieces of crap they fobbed off on the artists. for video editing no less!) Photoshop 4.1 would do its best but the comp would kill it and you'd lose a ton of work. Stupid machines had names like "Hercules", more like "10 pound weakling"! ...we'd sneak into the computer science and multimedia labs and use their machines instead <_<
