Ever had your own characters than you made but you only had certain favorites when it came to them?

Right now in my comic, my current favorite would be the Princess of Darkness, which kinda makes me feel guilty since I'm not supposed to root for the villianess in my own story. ^^;;
that kinda gives her a unfair advantage, you know?

But that's just she's so fun to write about right now. ^_^

Do the factor of how well you can write for a certain character play a factor in how well you like the character?
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

I don't know really. To me, my characters are more like tools to move the story along, unless I really feel close to the character... But in that case it's because I'm writing about an aspect of myself, living through the character.
When it comes to comics, it's a bit different for me. I have a loyalty to the main characters (Pinky and Cc). They're the most important characters, so I have to put the most into them, other than that it's a matter of weather another character looks good enough for me to spend the extra time on them.

Generally, it's always easier to write for characters (and draw for them too), when I can put myself in their shoes and feel what they feel

I've had characters that I related to before, but when it comes down to it, they are still just devices with which to tell a story, No more no less.

There's a diffrence between a character that you wouldn't like if you met them, and a character that you don't like because you don't feel they're well written. I have problems with writing for the latter, but that's just a problem stemming for an already existing problem.

The characters in all stories are a reflection of the creator of them. So I feel a connection with all my characters. Shiro is my favorite though.

I'm sure everyone has a certain character they can feel for the most. Like everyone is saying, part of that character's attributes are from the creator themself.

I feel specific ways about my characters, depending on who they are, and which attribute I have I decided to put into them (or make the most apparent, I should say). I try to make my characters as realistic and unpredictable as people, just because I think that helps brings out the story. Because after all, stories are about people and humanity when you really come down to it.

I'm not sure if I have a favorite at the moment though... if need be, it would be a pretty close tie between Vallen and another character that hasn't come into the story yet.

Even though the Awesome Opossum is the series' namesake, the Meadowlark is my favourite of the two.

Jack is still easily my favorite character. Since he has practically grown up with me via a pile of homemade comics...he will always be my favorite.

However, Orlock sort of came out of no where (just like in the comics) and has almost "tied" with him for my most favorite. He is also very fun to draw...and since he is basically what I think pure evil would be, of course he's fun to work with as a character. :-D

I had a problem with that in my first comic, namely, all of my charactors were my favorite, and I didn't have any opposing forces in the comic. I didn't want to put my peoples in harms way...

After a few weeks it stopped being about the story and turned into a mushy fanfic, and I had to drop the whole project :p Was really sad too cause the script I was working from was worth the effort, but then, I was still learning, and still am :) Maybe I'll go back to it later...*grins*

if i like a character, i develop him//her more and tend to write better if the scene features that character.

Most of the characters you like are usually characters that have your behavior (or part of it) ingrained into them.

I like all the characters in my current comic, and generally have an affection for all them in the other things I've done... I've had characters in the past that never quite clicked properly to begin with, but I see that more as a challenge to explore and make the character more interesting to me, if that makes sense.

But I've definetly got character who I prefer over others, and they're usually the ones who sort of gain a life of there own more than others.

Well, I'm gonna be starting up Sodomight again very soon. I actually like all the characters. I am having a problem in that the comic is suppossed to be about Erik, but Lydia is kinda taking over the story. Her dead sister may even spin off into a comic of her own (A horror comic called "Avenging Lisa" - a very bloodthirsty and gross tale featuring a child rapist and murderer as the hero/victim).

I feel a certain connection with all my characters (not like love connection) because they all portray certain aspects of me. I dont have many pages for my comic up yet only one, The cover. But i have drawn many, many shin comics. Too many to count. Altough the story is about Shin he is my second favorate, My favorate character of my would have to be "Grip" a bounty hunter . I must say i like him because i've takin the completely generic idea of a bounty hunter and made in unique to me. *steps off soapbox* Alright im done.

Misunderstood, tragic villains are my favorite types of character, so I find that most of the characters in my stories end up fitting in that genre. There are some characters that I definitely really enjoy, a few that I am relatively indifferent about and even a few that I can't believe how stupid they are. When it comes to those characters I usually end up re-working them and try to find a way to make them somehow more suitable and appealing, sort of like how you try to find the best in people in order to be civil with them even if you really do dislike them.

In Jump, Daemian Morningstar, Michael Franzetti, and Ersua Lur are probably my most favorite characters. In Lola, I like my three main characters the best, Lola, Edwin, and Richard, though Edwin probably a bit more than the rest.

well my absolute favorite charactor is Renges though he hasn't showed up yet and hes in most of the story and im alittle nicer and don't make to much harm come to him but most of that gets redirected to the main char Jack in the form of random violence

My favourite characters of mine are Maudiah and the Beast of Gevaudan. However Maudiah was created by our artist (I think there was some confusion when I asked her to sketch a boyfriend - and not a 'best' friend for one of the main characters), and the Beast of Gevaudan... well, that's all historic, innit!

Oh yea all the time.

My characters write the story for me (seriously they pick up the pencil and start working) so my favorites are normally the ones who create the best outcomes

I have way more least favorites. Like while I'm drawing I'll say "I hate you!!!!!" but I still have fun. I think I like creating characters I hate more than anything else.

Hmm, I guess it makes sense that I tend to prefer drawing my two main characters (the dude in green hoodie representing me, and the dude in blue collared shirt representing my best mate) due to the nature of my comics, and the fact that the characters are based on real people.

I imagine it's a different story though if your comic is a continuous storyline, where you specifically need to develop your characters in certain ways...

I've had multiple characters that I favored over the others be it their attitude, special skills or quirks, background, or that they were just plain cool-looking. But I know I like a character when I kill them. And I know I loved them when I'm sad afterwards.

I like all my characters, except the one that's supposed to be personable and nice and perfect. He honks me off, and will be killed, the bastard. But I might not. I just don't know what to do with someone that doesn't have any issues... I know! Give him issues! Yeah!!

In terms of ease of writing my favourite characters aren't always the easiest to write. I love writing for Butler 'cos he's so wordy and negative, but I can spend hours making him make sense. But that's why he's fun, it's good to be convolutely vindictive. My favourite character is Kylen, but I have no idea why as I don't understand her at all, and I'm not sure she understands herself either. :/ I think she says a lot of stupid stuff she doesn't mean, just to throw me off. XD I guess the characters I tend to not like are the simpler ones that I know already.

I like both the characters in Friends In Spring though. And they're both pretty easy, they're both just me in different aspects. So I dunno, there probably isn't any relation between ease of writing and enjoyment for me then. Yay! Way to waste everyone's time! XD

I have a few favorite in HU that haven't been introduced yet as the comic is just at the end of chapter one. But out of the characters that are in the comic right now, I'd say Steve Riley and The Angry Vicar.

My favorite character that I created is Ann Burnhams from Electronic Revolutions The Burnhams! That's right, it isn't Billy! I love Billy like my second favorite.

I created Ann back in 1998 and I have thousands of sketches of her which I am really obsessed with her.

She's a young little girl that can whoop the hell outta bad guys and that you will see in the future of this comic.

Enjoy... Las Vegas-y

I think the question if a character becomes more likeable if he/she is easy to write for, is interesting. I have almost always started with a story and then put my characte in it and then looked at what the outcome would be. This is, I guess, because I have a long background in RPG:s. I have been a GM as long as I can remember almost ( started GM:ing at the tender age of 10 and still doing it at 31... ) so I am used to put characters into a story and let them shape the final result.
The characers that I have made, that I like are better than me and maybe that appeals to me. The main character in Taste of Blood is determined and tough. She wont die whatever I throw at her, because she just wont give up. I like characters like that and therefore I led them endure a lot of hardship - to show their determination. A determination that I cannot say that I have achieved myself, but something that I admire.

For my main story, my favorite character is Legna (my avatar) but...i find that with the characters in this story, that since none of them are main characters as they all appear interchageably that i go through phases where im stuck on one character as opposed to another. As of now i dont even have a recent picture of my main character as ive been going through these phases.

All my characters are connected to me whether they act like me or not. It is because i created them, i know what ultimately happens to them and i can put myself in thier shoes. Some are easier to write than others, but that doesnt make me like them any less. Just depends on what mood im in.
Come to a world where COLORS are the fabric of the universe and legends hold the magic of the ages...
