I can't find the original topic of this... But who cares? It's dead and buried! :)

Anyway, what boxed sets of series are you hunting for/lusting after?
Where are you trying to get them? What troubles have you had or are you having trying to get them?

-------------------

I've just now bought all four series of LEXX from Amazon.co.uk. I've been after that for aaaaaaaaaaages... I STUPIDLY kept trying the U.S. site for it, but that's full of incomplete, hugely overpriced (I bought the whole lot for the price of just the first series if I'd gotten it from the U.S. site), scattered volumes, and most listed are unavailable anyway. Thank goodness I wised up and broadened my search slightly... The U.S. site is good for some things, bad for others.
-I finally got all of the A&E Nero Wolf series through there last year for a really good price. Before that I tried through the A&E site and other places and the cost was toooo big...

Now... I just ave to wait and see if they'll ever get here... -_-

I hate going to the big DVD shops in town. They're packed with idiot people and bazillions of titles. I cant find a fricken thing I'm looking for. The only stuff I find there are things I MIGHT want to get if I didn't already really want something else instead. But I'm not the kind of person to drop $200 on an impulse buy.

...well I am really... but not often!

I buy most of my DVDs in stores. Yes, sad but true, I rarely do any online shopping.

As for what DVD sets I'm hunting for...let's see...

The rest of the MacGyver series.

The A-Team.

Walker, Texas Ranger.

Those are my major ones, but over here they aren't that hard to find. At least, not if you choose to shop online, which, as I noted, I do not. Hey, I love browsing, especially since I only do it once or twice a year, and if it wasn't for this habit of mine I would never have found some of the movies I wanted whilst searching for those series, like Death Wish and Remo Williams
A Roll of the Dice now with full-size pages!

John Clyde now with ten times the tacky Hawaiian shirts!

'Batman: The Animated Series' is the only one I really want at the moment. But it's like forty quid and I can't afford to spend anything on DVDs and stuff right now.

Wikipedia
The crew of the Lexx is motivated largely by fear, lust, and insatiable hunger; factors which gradually came to dominate the story-lines more and more, eventually making Lexx famous for its sexual themes and often bizarre story-lines.

Sounds interesting. I may have to add to my list. ;)

Oh Yeah, it's worth it :)
The second series varies a lot in quality, because the crew was transitioning from a German/Canadian production to a Canadian/British one I think. But they got their groove back nicely in the end!

It was also interesting to see the guy who does the voice of Magneto in the X-men cartoons actually acting on screen.
----------------------

The only other box set I've got is the two series of the new version of Randall and Hopkirk (deceased). -Another good find though the UK Amazon site. ...Why the different Amazon sites don't share inventory I'll never know... They could at least link to stuff sourced from the other sites like that do with third part sellers. -_-

--------------
I'd QUITE like the Futurama series...
-With Red Dwarf I wouldn't touch it unless they had the undoctored version of the first series. It looks better without the shitty CG effects they added later.
-Similarly with Starwars. I'd love the proper movies in the original versions on DVD. Do they have those on DVD now?

-OOooo, The original Attenborough series!!! I would LOVE those. I think they're going to be next on my list. Shouldn't be tooo hard to find, should they?
-Also; Robotech... And maybe the original cartoons that made it up too- Southern Cross, Mospeada, and Macross..

The Office (American) - Season 1

I'll give you mine if you wanna pay for shipping (about 5 bucks?), I don't like it. I can't remember what region code it is, but most DVD players are unlockable anyway so maybe it doesn't matter?

Mmm, let's see, you really want to know what series I desperately want?
Allright, I'll tell you, and I'll tell why if I can.

Since I've been working my mojo on my parent I've gotten or nearly gotten (in that order)
Twin Peaks
Kingdom Hospital
Last Exile
Ergo Proxy

And yeah, that is a bit pathetic, but we don't watch that many series so we kinda just take the risk every time we decide to buy one we haven't seen becuause we've seen two episodes and/or just think it sounds that good.
But at the moment I WANTWANTWANT with extra want and sugar:

the complete X-files apparantly also spelled x files by some. Gah! I was a kid when they aired that here, and I swear, I know the intro by heart. It's just the kind of thing I love, but I was too young to understand it, so I never really saw it. I have to se it! All of it!

Besides that... Un
Serial Experiments Lain looked cool and Paranoia Agent too. Ah, I don't know, I'll see what happens. Hee.
Because I may as well show a bit of pride. ^___^

I'm normally an incredibly cheap person when it comes to DVDs, so I usually buy box sets either on the Internet, or if happens to be on sale in the store.

Have:
SNL season 1
The Office (U.S.) seasons 1-3
Seinfeld seasons 3-5; 7-9
NeiA_7
Haibane Renmei
Trigun
Fruits Basket
Dilbert: The Animated Series
Back to the Future
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia seasons 1 & 2
House seasons 1 & 2
FMA season 1, part 2 (why must they split up the seasons like they do?! It's stupid.)
Lupin III (movies 6-10 pack)
The Simpsons seasons 3 & 4
Ghostbusters 1 & 2
Ace Ventura
Animaniacs vol. 1
CSI season 1

Want:
Star Wars (I'm holding out and praying for a box set that actually has the theatrical versions of the trilogy, not the Special Edition with the extra scenes with the God-awful CGI)
Cowboy Bebop
FLCL
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai Champloo
Avatar
The Muppet Show
some sort of Marx Brothers movie set
Fawlty Towers
Outlaw Star
Samurai X OVAs
Tenchi Muuyo! 1st and 2nd OVA

You can get all four seasons of Batman on iTunes for about $35 each season. They just recently put 'em on there. :) (not to mention Superman and JLA Unlimited and Teen Titans)

$80 for the whole series is cheaper than $140. Even buying imports through amazon, it's cheaper to get the DVDs.

I really like box sets. I mean, that's the only way you can get TV shows. I have loads of box sets, if I made a list it would be long and boring. (And would actually fill in quite a few of the 'wanted' lists I've read here... haha you can't have them)

I'd like some CHEAP box sets of MST3K. Hell I'd even buy some of my favorites on iTunes if they were on there. (I should look that up one day, I don't even know if they are. Probably not.)

I also want to see all the eps of Avatar, but I don't like the show enough to actually pay anything for it. So I have to wait til they come out here to rent.

I end up renting a lot of the box sets I'm thinking about getting to see if I really really want them or not. I've decided not to buy any Muppet Show dvds, renting them was enough. Same with Monk and a couple other shows. I'm still debating about Lost, I'm not sure it will stand up to re-watching.

The DVDs I most love are all HBO shows :) Carnivale, Deadwood, Rome, Band of Brothers... I'm holding off on watching any Sopranos because I suspect once I start watching I'll end up spending a ton of money on the DVDs...
