I was actually going for practicing fighter planes of different perspectives... and then all hell breaks loose.
Took most of High School semester to complete this.

And yes, graphic composition notebook is my sketchbook. I make to make my money worth something.

This is me as a furry. ...Cuz I freakin' hate furries.

And then a doodle I e-mailed my coworker, because I was craving a panini from the Italian joint down the street.

Having just re-read Garth Nix's Abhorsen series, I was working out some characterizations of some of the main personalities. Here's a quick concept sketch of Sabriel:

A sketch of a minor character I'm going to introduce eventually.

(Just because my head hurt too much to draw an actual page today.)

Is it can be my post time now?

Just a sketch of Annellesia, one of my characters. I actually love it, sorry the picture is so blurry. My hands shake alot, hence the lack of new drawings. This one is from this summer.

Title: Gilded Woman.
Materials: Acrylic on Canvas
A painting of Annellesia.

This is one of my favorite drawings of her, ever.

Drawing of my namesake character, Dirk Zephyrs. This is ancient--at least last year. I may have even posted it in the old sketch thread.

Not exactly a sketch....but a screenshot from an animation I'm working on. It's still a sort of draft piece in a way. >_>

I just wanted to show one of these off at least once...and besides Jack's crooked seat I rather like how this shot turned out.

Yes, the art looks like that...though when I export the movie the quality will go down of course....and I doubt the animation itself will be amazingly fluid...but I'll do my best with the materials and little know-how I have.

Only one more month to go, and there's only half the pages of the original thread. Quality over numeracy?

I'd say so.

Also, Dirk Zephyrs and SarahN can has up thumbs.

Great sketches. I've always loved seeing what people's sketches look like versus their actual comic art.

This isn't my character, but one of my friend's--I did it because he's an all around badass. (I'm aware of the epic cheekbones, no need to tell me.)

That's really nice, Sarah. Is it gonna be Flash, or actual hand-drawn 2D animation?

Akamori later into Samurai Perfect. It's uncolored and mostly just clothing and hair referance. The sword I'm still unsure about, it was more of a last minute improvisation.

Drunk people are FUN. They're so wonderfully gracefully graceless. I love the way they hold themselves. :D

(Plus any excuse to doodle Seth, really). You'll have to forgive my appalling anatomy, sorry about that. What I need is many hot naked men to model for me. Hmm...

Tonight's warm-up doodle. :)

I like to do warm-up before I get cracking on comic pages... otherwise all I can think is "oh god, I've got to do more paintings of THAT! But I've done FOUR PAGES of that!!" or however many I've done of the current scene/scenery/whatever. And I gets bored and put off.

These doodles are a place to put my other ideas. XD

Dirk attempted starting a comic in panel format. This is what it turned out as, convincing him to approach it as an illustrated story rather than a comic...

(It's shamed Dirk to the point of referring to himself in third person.)

Here's a couple.
The first one is a little rough. Your basic Camel Jockey sketch...

The Second one is actually a finished pencil for an image which appeared for the poem Boudica in "A Life of Ravens" by Alex Ness. I usually "hard-line" all my work with a mechanical pencil before I go in with the brush and ink. It helps to take quite a bit of the guess work out so that I can concentrate on line weight and interpretation.

Something schmexy.

Gorgeous. :)

Over Thanksgiving, I made a few sketches of my characters in styles completely out of my comfort zone and different than my usual style. I tried a couple pure manga/anime style -- which I found to be incredibly alien to me, very unnatural and hard to draw! The others I drew with some detail in realistic proportions. The last one here was done entirely without any references, so it isn't as nice, but I'm proud that I made the attempt.

nice sketches usedbooks. The last couple are my favorites but they are all nice.

drawn on the way to Austin for Thanksgiving. I was going to draw comic updates but as it got to be around midnight and my little book light I was drawing by started to die I sketched this...about 10 minutes.

I always bring a sketchbook with me to work and kind of doodle what's around. I spend a lot of time at an indoor pool (as you can see below).

I also embellish what I see. There was this adorable old man hunched over one of the tables reading a paper during his grandkids' swimming lessons and I felt like using his posture and face for something a little less typical.

These sketches are a little older (well, by a month), but I haven't scanned much lately.
