Panel from a page I've been digitally inking this evening using my tablet. I'm new to a lot of the features in the program I'm using, so I've been stumbling along and learning more about it as I go. In any case, I'm pretty happy with the results. Wavy hair is one of my favorite things to ink (along with wood grain). :)

I was at a film festival a few weeks ago, and during one of the intermission periods, considering this was taking place at the Harley Davidson museum, I made this quick sketch of one of the motorcycles nearby:

First art posting of 2011!!!!!!

Woot!

This is hella-rough! Please forgive me. I'd never have a pic of this quality as a finished image. I'm not the best figure artist there is, but this is even dodgier than normal

The thing is though that it's a PENCIL drawing! And one that I did just doodling while I was watching a movie...
I haven't made a fun old fashioned pencil drawing in years. I even got out an old sketchbook and all my old fave pencils and erasers and stuff to do this. It's a big thing for me to go back to the old analogue days. And of course I kept trying to "save" my progress... As you do.

The other thing is that normally I'd set aside serious time for this sort of image if it was digital- I'd devote DAYS to getting it absolutely "perfect", and then going on with colour and all that crap. Here I just did this in an hour and a half casually in the slow bits of Scott Pilgrim.
In terms of my normal practise that's so fast that's teleportation!

I'm pretty sure that's not how you play volleyball, but I've been wrong before.

I do that every time I get out the analogue tools. Like... "what do you mean I can't resize or use the transform tool? Stoopid paper!"

I bought an iPad as a graduation/Christmas/birthday gift for myself. I've been hiding it from my friends because most of em would scorn me for having it, but I've been rocking out with it. I don't need no stinkin' pressure sensitivity:

I just recently got this app, so I'm still getting used to it, but I'm enjoying every minute of the process.

ipad pic
That's some groovy work with it, well done! Keep going with it and I'd advise getting a pogo stylus for it if you haven't already.

-if Apple enables it in future there's a way of doing pressure sensitivity by calculating the deformation of the surface that's touching it, i.e. the squish of fingers etc. You could do it on a jailbroken ipad, but that's a tricky route to take.
Android devices can already do it of course, but the downside of them all (apple ipad, android things, and whatever else) is that they only have low resolution digitisers so there are limitations.

This was inspired by a comment in the forums:

Ozone, you obviously know some extremely witty and urbane individuals!

Anyway, PaintToolSai sketch of a proposed Sherlock Holmes updated idea I've been working on.

What's it all about when you sort it out, Ozone?
Are we meant to take more than we give
Or are we meant to be kind?

Hahahaha! That's bloody amazing! -looks like a publicity photo from one of those early 70's prog rock bands... Soft Machine or something.

If only each of us were able to work that fast and efficiently on your comics! ^_^

There's a very good reason why we can't do that. I just haven't thought of it yet. :(
