US singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes has died at his home in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 65, police said.
Police were called to Mr Hayes' home after his wife found him unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1408 (1908 GMT).
Mr Hayes, a flamboyant, deep-voiced performer, won an Oscar for the 1971 hit Theme From Shaft.
He was perhaps better known to a younger audience as the voice of Chef from the hit cartoon show, South Park.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
It's a sad, sad weekend for the media...

Yea I know, but before we turn this forum into the obit pages for dead celebs, how about we combine comment with the Bernie Mac thread? :)
-------
Ah well, Fredie Mac was over with.
Chef's dead too now.
Any complaints about celebs not being worthy of a mention when they die? Personally I consider it like talking about movies or whatever: shared cultural knowledge that's more relevant to people halfway round the world than talking about your dead uncle bob.
Still though, It's not good to get morbid over this stuff so lets TRY not to obsess too much over these dead people ok? i.e. don't make a thread every time a new one hits the news.

I find it a bit sad that he died near a treadmill. Obviously he was trying to be healthy and he died anyway :[

skoolmunkeeOr maybe it's because he died.

I don't say he died while exercising, but for certain people it does put undue stress on the body. I know of a few guys in their late 40's to early 60's who died in gyms- heart attacks usually, but other things too.
