I'm reading this book called The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection From The Living Dead. I think it's really interesting and I keep reading it over and over again. One of my friends thinks the Solanum virus, mentioned in this book, is actually real. I don't think it exists, and to be a little optimistic, I asked him to prove to me it exists, and that it can turn people into zombies, and he just didn't respond. Plus, I searched Solanum on Google and with Images, the majority of them were plants, and they weren't they were either pictures of the book, or possibilities of what this so-called "virus" might look like. I also doubt the virus' existence, because it supposedly turns the the brain into an organism that doesn't need food or water. Think about that for a second. Every living thing needs food and water for nourishment. So whats the deal. Are there actual traces of this Solanum virus or what?
vi-rus
noun, plural -rus-es.
1. an ultramicroscopic (20 to 300 nm in diameter), metabolically inert, infectious agent that replicates only within the cells of LIVING hosts, mainly bacteria, plants, and animals: composed of an RNA or DNA core, a protein coat, and, in more complex types, a surrounding envelope.
I think Max Brooks just picked a random name out of a hat. And an even sadder fact is, my friend believed the entire book, and on the back cover, in the top left-hand corner, it says in capital letters: $13.95/HUMOR

Yeah, Max Brooks is a fiction writer. A lot of people want to believe that zombies, ROMERO zombies can and will exist, which I think is fascinating as hell. (for voodoo zombies, cf. Wade Davis)
One caveat: I certainly wouldn't dismiss it as an impossible thing, who knows, you know? Consider how much human energy is spent on cheating death, not just research, but religion also. We are obsessed. So who knows what we may create >_>

Personally, not a big fan of the book.
Categorized in fiction, so I doubt solanum exists.

er, I don't think it does. But really all the methods he presents in that book are very feasible! If there ever was a zombie invasion that is. heheh. I felt like such a schmuck after reading that book because I wasn't in shape or prepared for a zombie invasion.
