Hello, I need some brutal truth, I created a website that I thought up while in the Navy, its an online comic book website but its not like this one. The best way to describe it is that its a compilation of many users conrtibuting to one storyline, the community votes on their favorite idea and the winner is awarded prize money and a 90 percent contract if the storyline goes into print. I thought it was a good idea but no one is joining, mabye it SUCKS? I need to know the truth, dont be nice, just tell me what went wrong because Its not going anywhere soon. Well heres the addy http://www.comicracy.com
Hope to hear from you all.

Does my idea suck?

Like rising stars of manga?
Well here's Brutal truth:
The website design is terrible and not fitting of a comic site. I would never submit something i put hard work on to a site that looks as seedy as yours(sorry man)
work on that web layout, try not to make it dark and grungy which screams 'im gonna rip you off'. Iyou can keep the grungyness in the layour but can be tasteful about it (And example: google FAKKU, it is a hentai website with a kickass design)
You have no clear, upfront 'what's this all about'. Just the weird slogan that screams American 'for the ppl by da ppl'. Make it known what you're all about right upfront-not in those miss-matched button links.
Your site is not well-known. Even after you work on your site layout people are still going to be cautious till they hear success storys. Focus on making it emtremly user friendly and eye-appealing-then you'll get some results.
also does it say you have to be a member to vote? That's a HUGE no-no, let the voting be free and IP based- people hate going through the register/login/logout process.
I hope I helped, I want this to succeed. The concept is very cool, namely the prize money. :)

Yeah. I have to agree. The low-rent feel of your site doesn't instill confidence in your business sense (which is important if your asking someone to entrust you with promoting their property).
Also, if your serious, take out adds at all the promenant comic sites.
Later,
Chip

Maybe you should consider having some comic artists on Drunkduck contribute to one comic!
Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.
Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.
