Do you fangirl/fanboy over your own characters?

Thing is we actually know our own characters way too well.
That's how I feel about my characters. I could imagine being a good friend to most of them, but I know so much about their problems and hang-ups, it'd be nothing more than that. I'd like to take each of them aside and help them to talk through their issues and get their lives straight.

Plus, I don't have too many female characters anyway. And I think Boudicca could be quite scary in real life!

Also, it sorta weirds me out (just a tad) when anyone calls one of 'em "hot" or "cute" or whatever. Especially when I didn't necessarily intend to draw the character as "attractive". I mean, it's flattering in an odd way; but it's kinda like someone saying they want to bang my little brother. (Who is 25, and married, and not little. But still.)
How did I miss that? hahaha!

Marry? That's lovely ^_^
When people contact me about what they'd like to do to Pinky (do "to", not "with" her), I just delete their e-mails. Not that I'm prudish, but she's a bit like family so that feels really wrong, it's not that sort of comic, she's not that sort of character, and I'm not the sort of guy that likes indulging other guy's explicit sex fantasies.

Yeah, that's weird on a couple levels. I mean, first off: it's one thing to have those kinds of fantasies; but why would they feel like you would want to know about them? In detail? Secondly, the preposition "to"- that's always creeped me out, you know? Sounds kind of rapey. huh!?

(edit: I changed my original typo "proposition" to "preposition", but feel the need to suggest that both words might work equally well. ;) )

Yeah, I fanboy over my own characters. I'm not the kind of author who hates his own characters. I love them in all their larger-than-life beauty and ugliness. If you know the nature of my comics, it should be pretty self-evident.

As for hanging out with them... I draw "adventure comics," so they're all larger than life... I wouldn't have anything in common with them.

Are the women my idealized versions of women? I suppose. But only in certain ways. Perfect characters are boring, male or female.

Are the women hotter or more desirable than real-life women? Only if you think a one-way fantasy is more desirable.

No.

My main character is based on me...but is much cooler and tougher and knows Kung fu. He would kick my ass.

"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre

lol! Yeah, the rapey connotation probably helped put me off more.

NO. They're action figures kept in boxes beside a stage until needed. Kidn of weird as my characters are 3-D and you hold them in your hand (even if they are 12" tall)

If they were real people and as characters, they're all kind of avatars for different people in my life, some of whom created the characters to begin with.

I might have a Sorceress (Searsha, Larya, Glorianna, Elsa) lunch box, but that'd be about it.

But then as they're action figures, I could play with them if I want. :) As if I have time when setting up scenes. lol!

Or you could respond with, "Wow, that reminds me of a funny story about your mom..."

I sure as hell hope I don't! :D But I don't know, one of the characters is basically me, but if I was a lot dumber than I am. :D All of the others are amalgamations of people I have met or known, so no, I don't think I go all fanboy over them, but I do think some are cooler than others. Mandy is hands down my favorite character so far that I write and draw.

Ok, I had two characters actually. Not in Din Krakatau though (and it took me some time looking through the notes etc. to remember them again).

First one was created somewhere in the middle 90s and she was based on an obscure game character. I'd probably use her in some story, but the name I gave her (one of modifications to differ her from the original character) is used by a major company superhero character (which I found out about just recently).

The second one appears in a series of stories that I wrote (or tried to write) some years ago (and I'll be rewriting these as comics and completing the saga). She was created as a sort of ideal version of me... if I was a girl that is :D

While writing the stories, I ended up filling her character with various flaws, fore example she's always sure of herself to the point of stepping into a trap willingly, believing she'll make it out of there safe anyway.

I'm quite fond of both characters, and while the first one doesn't have any story writen, the second one has all of her major life points plotted out, up until her death.

I saw a woman the spitting image of Pinky the other week, it was quite cool. -Not the hair and outfit, just the face and bod.
I was on the train and just one stop from home and dying to use the loo... so I couldn't stop and chat, I just had to go, but I would've liked a chat- just to get some reference pics if nothing else.

I've been drawing Saturno way too much. Even having fun drawing human Saturno. I think I'm liking Demon Eater for all the wrong reasons because of my fangirlism.

Now...

was it, you couldn't chat with "Pinky" because you had to use the john...

or you had to use the john because seeing "Pinky" made you **** your pants, and therefore you couldn't chat.

lol!

The former unfortunately. There's no way I want to be farting around if I can help it ;)

Eh, I wasn't that overawed by her anyway, it's just a bit freaky and fascinating to see characters you've drawn come to life like that. It certainly wasn't the first time. ...There was that exact copy of Cc I saw that time, wearing the same clothes- tight blue denim hot pants (no crotch heart patch though) with black bike shorts underneath and tight purple baby-doll T-shirt showing the midriff , same colours, same breast size, same haircut and colour, same piercings, same boots... except she was over 60 years old o_O

And yet still others...

I don't think so, not in a romantic way. I mean, considering I created them... and stuff... it'd feel so awkward.

I'd gladly be BFF's with most of them though. Drinking, Partying, Hanging around doing nothing but still awesome kinda buddies.

And wow... lucky guys! I've never met anyone that resembles my characters. I dunno what I'd do if I did. But then again, I'd probably just be to wrapped up in my sketchbook/music/book to even notice them. HOW SAD. Oh well.
SHH, I'm sleeping.
