I'm a little bummed that it's not going to play out like a full documentary and I guess be more of an action flick. Maybe I'll see it on DVD or bootleged on the internet one day

Really original in it's look and feel, and yet, I still feel kind of "Ho-Hum" about it. I liked the second act much better than the first.

I enjoyed the movie. It starts as a documentary and then moves into action. works well. however. i have one complaint. shakey camera.

I only heard about this movie few days ago. Looks like an interesting concept.
I'm curious to know why the aliens had to become refugees. Did their planet blow up or was it a result of some crazy space war?

I'm really surprised it got turned into a full movie!
I saw the full version of the short movie forever ago when someone posted it somewhere (was it in this forum?) because on the basis of that short the guy had been picked top do the Halo movie. But then the Halo thing fell through and I heard no more. :(

they never actually say, but it goes on and on about how a piece fell off the ship, which is possibly a command module, and that all the aliens are actually the "workers" like in an ant community. so they had no direction, and no idea how to get it back up and operating
the halo movie's not done....it...can't be...
actually, it's on indefinite hold. something about a budget, and microsoft being too cheap to put up a decent share.

The Halo movie is dead-in-the-water. I.e. you can expect it to not get made until the rights go up again, or rushed out the door right before the rights expire.
It would be an awful movie anyway, Halo literally has no plot besides "shoot dem alien in head, oh no zombie"

The Halo movie will come in the form of a machinima. Don't try to fool yourself, you know it's true.

I was really not expecting the blatant sequel-bait at the end.
I did not think that it was open to a sequel... I mean a low was left unresolved... shit they better not make a sequel...
Overall it was good! I disagree that it is a new classic, as I've heard from others, but very good!!

I saw it and it was a fantastic film on many levels. I won't go as far as saying that its a modern day classic but there was so much going on the film that I need to see it again. For the budget spent, from what hear it was low, the final product looks quite spetacular as though it was a multi-billion dollar production. DEefinitely worth seeing in the theatre. Its not a movie for everyone and think it may get mixed reviews.
As to the Halo movie, last I heard Steven Speilberg is attached to produce the movie and that was confirmed early this week.

Multi-billion??? You're not all that familiar with the value of a dollar, are you...?

Where their dollar isn't worth very much... In Zimbabwe Dollars the actual cost of this film could not be counted. I'm not sure if there's a number big enough :(

Ok I want people's opinions:
I only have enough money to see one film this month, and it's between District 9 and Inglorious Basterds. Between going to school and not having a job now, I'm really tight on cash. Which movie do you guys think would be worth the money?

I dont think a Halo movie is going to get made any more than a movie based on American McGee's Alice will. Production Hell is hell for a reason.
My movie budget is ussssually the same, but I'm buying Arkham Asylum this month and that's sixty bucks down the drain. Lately I've been basing my movies on how annoyed I get during a trailer. I dont remember trailers getting played this much as a kid, but every commercial break GI Joe will show up with American Badass and act as an affront to my ears.
I guess the key to marketing nowdays is to just beat people over the head /rantlol

which leads into an important issue about District 9. The average "blockbuster" film spends 30 million on advertising. the entire budget for district 9? 30 million dollars.

That's pretty funny considering District 9 ads play about as often for me as GI Joe and are every bit as annoying.
