like a scene from aliens, you can clearly see how the fungus have adapted to a species of insect and take over their body and mind.
the most fascinating thing is that the colony dumps the infected ant away from the colony to decrease infection (damn! that's smart) even though they are instictual they know what to do.

I remember seeing that on tv, stuff like that is so amazing. Still, I'm pretty glad that it doesn't really happen to humans.

Reminds me of these "mind-controling" bugs I saw a few videos of. One was a snail with huge stalk eyes. But they wern't stalk eyes. They were maggots inside of the snail's stalk eyes, and it made the snail go above the grass, where a bird ate its eyes. The video said that there were more maggots inside of the snail, and when its eyes grew back, they would do the same thing. Also, the bird's crap would have maggots, and when a snail moved over the crap, it would get maggots too. Another videos was a cricket that jumped into the water, started thrashing around, as a long, about eight inch worm just grew out of it. Nasty, huh?

I remember that video. Those pulsating bloated eyestalks are _freaky_.
Sounds like a good idea for a webcomic. :D

The next time I see my friends scaling trees in a disoriented state, I'm going to be suspicious that their brain is infected with a fungus.

Great, now I can have nightmares for weeks about fungus exploding out of people's bodies and inflamed snail eyes. And lets not forget those weird growths on that guy's hand that subcultured linked in that other thread.
Fantastic.
Fantastic.
