Wow...there's only a buffer of 13 comics left to review until we get to mine. If this keeps up I'll need to reschedule my review.

Anyway, after reviewing a bunch of sprite comics and sketchy comics and comics with too many words it's nice to get back to a comic which in nice and regular looking.

And...what the crap?! This comic starts on #185. That's kind of weird. So this must mean that your drunk duck site is the 'mirror' to your 'main' site (if you know what I mean...which you do...cause I just said it.)

Alright, enought with the crappy half-jokes. This comic looks pretty darn good. The color really works here and the linework is clean. The speech bubbles look good and all that jazz. You get an A in presentation.

And now the most important part, does it appeal?

Well...some of the jokes fall flat. I mean, this is sorta a campy comic. On account of me reading this right off that bat at #185 I probably missed some stuff (which I can always check up on on Mr. Spooks main site later). But still, storyline with the spider progressed nicely. I didn't, how you say, laugh at the jokes, but I'm writing a review here. And that means I'm not allowed the chuckle unless something is REALLY DAMN FUNNY.

Anyway, overall I find this to be a well presented comic with nice art and nicer coloring, which has some good jokes, but not good enough to make me laugh. Still, it's pretty good.

I concur with ccs1989... the numbering does make me wonder if we've missed something rather essential with regards to character development.

Either way, they're certainly quite interesting and suitably comicy characters... and of course one of the most essential parts of a comic like this is humour, which seems to work for the most part... for example I found this really funny for some reason http://www.drunkduck.com/Slither_and_Friends/index.php?p=10916

There are many cases though where the comic just seems to be furthering the storyline, i.e. there is no real punchline of any sort... not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make me wonder if this comic is one continuous storyline, or if it does have some single stand-alone strips...

Oh, and I thought this first frame was a particularly cool action shot http://www.drunkduck.com/Slither_and_Friends/index.php?p=10925

The artwork is nice. Though I usually don't go for thicker lineart, these lines work well. I like the more subtle colors, they blend very well. It's consistent and well constructed. I like the character designs are too, Slither's very tall eyes, and the spider queen. I find that sometimes it's tough to have scary creatures pull off a wide range of expressions, and you've done this well with the spider queen.

The story, however, doesn't turn my head. To sum it up, when I read this I feel like I'm watching some of my old favorite Saturday morning cartoons. You've got your wild mini-adventure and cute but not hilariously funny twists in the dialogue. When I'm reading it, I feel like I'm watching from outside the target audience range, like I would have enjoyed it a lot more at a third of my present age. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, in fact, I don't see it often in webcomics. It's just hard for me personally to get into.

This comic is sheer brilliance.

See... the problem with comic readers in this day is they don't go under the surface value of the ink and type often. They see something and they just accept it and move on. But with a comic like this one- aw, it goes beyond plot, ladies and gents. This is a story about telling stories, I mean, c'mon! It's funny!

I think the jokes are really honest, which is great because most jokes are so convuluded they wrap around themselves and get tripped up in the punch-line. But here we have classic good humor.

AND it's cleanly drawn- ledgible- bears fabulous color control, and consistency! Don't get me started on consistency. Few comics achieve it. This one does.

All in all, I think this comic illustrates Drunk Duck Comics do: double entendre. It may take brains to appreciate it- but that's why you gotta give Silther and Friends props.

Yes indeedy, this is quite a good comic.

The art is pretty good, and like said above, you can tell effort is put into it. I myself still use a pencil, bristol board, and the good ol' fashioned Staedtler pigment liner. Hey I don't mess with success.

The humor is pretty good... but there were some parts I could TOTALLY see coming. Fo Reals. Maybe I'm just good at predicting things*

So yeah, it's good. I like it.

*I am extremely good at predicting things. Run a movie by be, and I've got that shiz pinned in fifteen minutes. That's why people hate watching them with me.
