Overall

funny, quirky comic.

Art

I made the mistake of looking at the last page first, which currently just a bunch of squiggly lines. But i went back a couple of pages and it all began to make sense. And then it made total sense.

The art has a style to it. reminds me of storybook illustration and I think this works great for the sheeps.

Story

The story seems to be a mixture of a few pages of story or just a single page story/joke. Some of the single page stories made me giggle.

Most of the humor is just cute humor, though it throws a little rude stuff in there, but nothing really over the top. I think it works mostly. some pages lost me and some used jokes that felt a little familar.

These were some of my favorites.

Hehe, cute series. :) Made me laugh.

ART:

The art is simple, yet stylized so that it works. It's not really supposed to be all-out, best art in the world. It's a cute, humble style that really suits the cute little humor that the comic's got going on. Those sheep are pretty damn cute. :)
But alas, it's not perfect. I found that the characters sometimes change in size in a few comics, such as this one:

http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=429512

The one in the skirt seems to be smaller in the last panel than the other two... ? I also don't understand why the scene zoomed out. It leaves a lot of negative space on the right side...

It's also a little sloppy sometimes, like in this one:

http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=430737

I see the color's kinda popping out of the sheep a little, like it needs to be smoothed out and cleaned up...

The art kind of has this Japanese-chibi-esque kind of thing going on too, you know? Thought I don't want to like it (since it is a bit trite), I do. :) It fits the comic, and I ultimately like that.

Overall, I give the art a B. A humble grade for a humble style. Seems to fit to me. :)

WRITING:

Ultimately, I think the writing was the highlight of the comic. It's random, funny, quirky, and incredibly cute. :) It's got a lot of random stuff, but there are some comics sprinkled in that really showcase the writer's wits. It's a good, evenly-spread mix.

There are a lot of pee jokes, though. A LOT. Though they are cute and hilarious, I would recommend that it not be so overly used. Not a lot of people like the overly-used gross-outs, and it'd probably be better off if it pulled back a little. ^^; Just a thought.

I also have a problems with the characters. A little one. They all have their own cute little personality, and I really like that, but it get's a little confusing on which sheep's which. I mean, I know the punk one, the one with glasses, and the black one well, since their looks differentiate a great deal from the other's but it's like... One is naked, one's got a skirt, one has one bow, one has two bows, one has this hair, one has that hair... It messed me up here and there, and I really had to refer back to the character chart to understand. I understood after a few times, but some people might not be so lenient. Maybe if their colors were messed around with a little, like one's off-white, one's a little more grey, you know, but not far-off from white. It will be a little change, but it would be very helpful. :)

But again, I LOVED it. I thought it was absolutely hilarious and adorable. I give the story an A-.

OVERALL:

Sheeps is a cute, quirky, silly comic. Not everyone will like it, but I know a lot of people will love it. :) It kinda gives off this vibe of "Elmo's got a gun!" or "Barney's smoking crack!", you know? Sort of that friendly, children's show gone wrong kind of thing, and I REALLY like it. :) The art is sweet and humble, very adorable and quirky characters, and is just simply hilarious. Sheeps is a job well done.

Overall, Sheeps get a B+. Out of me. Nice work! :)

Well, skimming the reviews thread for new comis to read turned out to be a good idea!
Sheeps is... interesting. Getting straight to the point, what I think makes this comic is the art. Anyone, really, can put together some poop and pee jokes, but the really, awfully cute sheep make this a very good comic, and one of my favourites on DD. The simplicity of the art is very appealing . As well as the standard jokes, there's a good amount of original and witty humour in there. I might've even liked this if it was *just* a 'cute sheeps' comic, but the foul mouths some of them sheeps have makes this a cert.

Thank you very much for the honest reviews so far! Don't pull any punches. I'm a total newcomer to this stuff so really let me have it! I've only been doodling for about two years, honestly.
Some issues I have been working on. The earlier strips were pretty sloppy since I was just so giddy to use the fancy paint brushes. It was also pretty uneven because I did not use guides back then. I often read cartoonist blogs to learn how to draw better. Since those early strips I have stopped making the usual mistakes and I'm just now starting to hit my stride.
As for the writing, I admit the potty humor does get out of hand. This is mostly because I'm trying to keep everything at a PG-level but still kind of rude, so sometimes I'll find myself resorting to that. Some strips though I can honestly say are actual experiences I've had with my little brother. Also on the subject of writing I am working very hard on establishing the characters and finding their little quirks and idiosyncrasies. My favorite webcomic is Achewood and I aspire to have characters as complex as those by the time I finish my first year. Hopefully when I've perfected their personalities you can tell who is who just by the way they talk. I tried doing this with the blackout strips. In some places it worked and in some it did not.

Thank you!

An interesting gag-a-day with a unique style is a short way of saying it, now the long way.

First, the art is what makes is quite unique. Ive seen a similar style in flash animation, similar to that of There she is! The fact that theres a large amount of sheep, each easily distinguished from the other is what gives it a nice cute look to it. It would have a stronger impression as an animation, so you should consider that as a further step in your web-comic goal.

The humor is simple. Crude and rude humor at the hands of innocent sheep is what makes it funny. Who would suspect a sheep to make a poop or urine joke? I certainly did not.

Your evolution of art shows as the pages go by. Usually, as a comic continues, the style changes and becomes more and more solid, and its slowly showing itself in your comics. From the first page to the latest, you can see that the style is getting better and better. Your character expressions are on the dot, which is often key to giving your comic its life.

On a scale of 1-10, I give it a solid 7.

It is impossible not to like this strip.

Art
The characters are so charmingly adorable that i wish i had plushies of them. The whole atmosphere of this comic reminds me of when I was in 3rd grade and we would read storybooks that were made by pieces of construction paper glued on other sheets of construction paper, mixed with a little MS Paint. 8/10

Story
The story was surprisingly adult for the art, which made it even more funny. the outerspace adventures was so out of left field i couldnt help but smile. However, while it was very funny in a "ha thats funny in the back of my mind" kind of way, nothing made me laugh out loud. 5/10

Overall
Like I said before, it's impossible not to like this strip. if you have a problem with sheeps you have a problem with yourself.

6.5/10

SHEEPS!
I think the second page really laid out what Sheeps is all about.
http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=427941

Very cute, Katamari Damarcy like sheep, doing and saying gross things! Hooray! The art is spot on perfect for the type of humour this comic wants to convey, it is striking, consistent and unique. The child like quality could not be better for what this comic is about.

Scenes like this evil squirrel were very satisfying-
http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=428311

But I did start to feel that this was turning into a bit of a one note joke. Variations on the idea of cute sheep doing something decidedly not cute (and wetting themselves almost constantly) started to wear a bit thin by the time I had read through the archive.
Also, weirdly I found the humour was, in places, not gross enough. The more crass it was, the funnier it seemed in relation to the fact cute sheep were doing it. When the humour was more clean and innocent, it tended to fall flat.

The characters were also a bit of a weak point.
By their very nature of all being sheep, they all look rather similar and at times I was struggling to pick up much distinction between them.
I didn't like the nerdy sheep much at all. He really was just one unfunny joke told too many times "Look I invented something! Oh no, it didn't work". When the rocket ship exploded I was really hoping it had actually just killed him so I could be rid of him.
I felt the same way about the punk sheep, his humour was just not very funny.
I liked the dragon (DON'T JUDGE ME!)- http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=429128
and Rufus, the black sheep, seemed like he might be interesting, but both of these characters have so far made very few appearances (especially rufus, who is in it so rarely I am not entirely sure if I get what the character is supposed to be.)

Though it does not cause belly laughs, Sheeps does amuse and is well worth a look, but I feel it needs to branch out to avoid becoming just the same jokes rephrased time and again.

Updated information- The guy who writes this has stopped up dating since october but is on the front page, so that shows what I know!

VERY good points, THANK YOU!
I am still struggling with the writing and boy is it obvious. Trying to establish distinct personalities when I am not even one year into the strip is very hard, but I am super glad you brought it up because it's something I want to work on come the next season of Sheeps comics.

Thank you again and do not be afraid to be brutal! I'm a newbie to comics and art so I appreciate the feedback!

Sheeps

The best thing about this comic strip is the art. It’s highly original. The characters look like paper cutouts pasted on colorful backgrounds. The style really catches your eye. At the beginning of the comic, the art is interesting. By the latest update, it’s absolutely gorgeous. The characters look adorable, and the sheep are very expressive. From my point of view, this is the focal point of the comic. The humor seems to come 2nd to the adorable sheep.

This brings me to the cons. The humor is very basic. If it wasn’t for the sheep, this wouldn’t be a very amusing comic. Cute antics with light bathroom humor thrown in pretty much sums up the comedic content. If it had memorable characters, then humor wouldn’t matter as much. But most of the sheep are just stereotypes used to set up the jokes. You don’t really care about them much.

Sheeps isn’t great. It could be really good if the humor stepped up a notch. That combined with the cute art could make for a really nice comic. But for now, it’s just average.

6/10

I will start this revieuw by saying that SHEEP ARE CUTE.

now I v'e got that out of my system,

the art:It's pretty, it works, it's simple, it serves it's purpose, and en import thing that's often missing here on the duck: it's finished. Artwise, it could be printed. But story is 1000 times more important than art. The contrast between the cute sheep, and the things they do/say mostly works too (think cute sheepy next to evil puddle, but as people already said, some characters are not as clearly defined as others.

Visually that is. there is the "dirty mouth"-sheep, and the "oh no don't do that"-sheep, and the "little kid"-sheep, but those are all clearly defined by the writing and the way they talk, so that is a good thing.
Where the characters are developping neatly, the jokes sometimes need a bit more work. The comic thrives on timing an the facial expressions of these little sheep. A comic like this don't need that much story, or even the greatest jokes. Just something that keeps things interesting, and reinforces the charcters and the overall theme of the comic would do.
Combining the "cute gone bad"-theme with a PG rating might be hard, but potty humor is too easy an solution. Well, it's ok, and I liked the very rude ones ("this is no mud" ) better than the "oops"-ones. When the humor works, it kinda reminds me of http://www.beaverandsteve.com/ and that is a good thing.

Overal: this comic is interesting and shows a lot of potential. It looks nice and original, and it makes me happy when I read it. It needs work, and it is being workes on, so that is good. I'm curious to see how it evoloves, and hope, it doesn't loose it's soul on the way. because it has a soul. That is why it gets a 7/10.

love the art work, characters design are both cute and original, though there's a problem of knowing who's who since most of them look alike and using a white backdrop is hard on the eyes.

writing wise is a little iffy, some of the punch line is hard to get while some i just don't get at all.

all in all i have to say i do not like it that much though the comic is very suited to a target audience of 6~12 that's why i'm giving it an above average 6.5/10

Sheeps is an adorable little strip that I just read through in basically one sitting (fresh opinions here!). It's cute enough to get you out of a bad mood, and punchy enough to not completely bore you or numb your mind. Once you start it, you likely won't be able to quit reading, regardless of how you feel about it.

Art: An original, adorable, unique style that personally hits my pleasure-spots in regards to color, simplicity, and texture. Its very subtle use of texture upgrades the art to something almost marketable. :D It could use polish to make it truly pop, should the creator one day decide to make a little book or something of the sort. It's amateurish but wouldn't take much to refine. And it has surprisingly nice use of colors and color theory.
The characters are sometimes hard to distinguish from each other, but you only have to pay attention. I'm a big fan of comics with very simple characters who are only distinguished by a few traits, apart from their personalities.

Writing: The creator once mentioned that she got inspiration from her little brother. It's very obvious in the first strips, and it's also sort of endearing. (I don't have siblings, but I have some inkling of what they're like.) There's lots of potty humor here, which I'm usually not very tolerant of, but the comic manages to make it both cute and bearable. Certain parts certainly push the PG limit (for example, the last update), but if you look at things that have been published under G/PG/Everyone ratings (a few games like Banjo-Tooie come to mind), they can pretty much escape the grasp of young minds (unless kids are knowing more than I think these days...). Although I do notice it's "M" now, lol.
It's predictable sometimes, but rarely dissatisfying.

Typesetting: The font used creates some weird spaces sometimes. Could use some more refining.

Overall, it portrays not only a few adorable sheep doing the "cute gone wrong" thing, but sheep (and a dragon!) getting into weird situations born of their own naivety. And there are just a few random things thrown in which more often than not will make you smile:

http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=434713
http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=429091
http://www.drunkduck.com/Sheeps/index.php?p=432094

A 7/10, only for the lack of polish in areas. :D

Hmm, sheep.

First of all the art is not bad. It looks pretty good actually, and you put detail where it is needed. However, i do not find the sheep cute in any way, it might be the faces. But they do look like sheep, and everything around them looks like what it is supposed to, so i understand every joke and what not.

But, as for the jokes, they arent exactly hahahhaha funny. Yeah, they are "cute" and all, but as someone said before, they are for people under like, 12 and such, but your rating is M. I mean every now and then i'll see a joke i like, but i dunno....

Overall good thing going, it's just, it's kind of like Sunday comics in the paper.
I love reading them and dont miss them, but they only make me giggle in my head.
So yeah, 5/10 for that, because the art is good.

And i dont see why people think the sheep are cute......hmmm, i just dont see it.

This comic is glorious.

The art style is completely nontraditional in a refreshing way. It's not sprites, it's not MS paint, it's not stickmen. It's very unique without being pretentious or abstruse, in fact I'd say it's marketable in a Hello Kitty sort of way.

That being said, the combination of cute character design and relatively 'mature' humor (I say 'mature' because piss jokes are anything but) isn't an uncommon combination, but it's done with so much charm that I really can't help but enjoy it for what it is. Though I will say the comic is often overly reliant on humor and some of the jokes fall a bit flat once you've moved past admiring the novelty of the art style.

My recommendation is, as it often tends to be, perhaps consider making the characters more rigid (I saw a character sheet but their individual identities didn't seem to matter all that much in context) with more elaborate story arcs that has them explore one another's idiosyncrasies through more complex interactions.

All in all, great job!
