Gah! Why are all these people getting two of their comics reviewed? There was Myxo, Cory, now Subcultured....rrg.

Anyway, the flash switching of pages in this site is really slick. The way every page fades in and out adds to the mood of the comic. Since that's something you can only do on the web, this comic wins points for that. Very stylish.

The art is pretty power packed and the sense of movement and action is there, but I'm afraid that it's difficult to tell these character's apart. The setting is too dark and their proportions are too similar. If it weren't for the dialogue and the setting I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Still, that speaks for your writing. However that page where he talks about the death of his wife...that could have been paced better. We don't want a script, we want dialogue snchronized with artwork. You sorta did that there, but not really.

Actually I take that back about not being able to tell the characters apart. After things get lighter that changes.

So all in all this is a pretty damn good comic. Not exactly up my alley (although I do like the violence and character expressions) but it was pretty awesome nonetheless. Also I like the changing styles, when you compare this to Mute.

Hey Eggbert. I think it would be a good idea to put the content rating on comics when you post em for review. This comic is definally an adult comic.

The art gets better over time. Good style for a crime ridden urban setting. The coloring makes me think of Sin City.

The comic skips around a little bit. With more content I'll probably be able to paste together the story better.

You make the scenarios with as few pages as possible. You could have make some more panals and pages to flesh out the story more, especially with the page that talks about the main character's wife. That page was by far the most lazy made page of the comic. I really didn't want to read all that.. It was like an AIM conversation. You don't do that in a comic...

I does say "mature readers" right on the front cover, but I see your point. I'll slap a rating on future reviews.

ARTWORK - the stylized artwork is fine by me but, to be honest, its literally too dark for my tastes. I don't know if its a trend or if some people just like to pour ink on a page but really dark shading/toning makes a comic hard to read. especially small panels where the artist uses heavy line (like here). so, to recap, i like the style but would rather see more white space. i did like the occasion use of bright color to highlight something (eyes, blood, etc).

WRITING - as always, my biggie. i actually think the dialogue is pretty good and pretty believable (ya know, for a comic). i don't say this about too many comics. it was sometimes disjointed and because of that i'd rather see the story more tightly instead of jumping around from scene to scene. narration is the way to go if you like to jump from scene to scene (as most comic artists do). no narration leaves the reader trying to figure out what's going on and where are we? these are not the questions you want the reader concentrating on, because if he's doing that, he's not paying attention to your comic and, ultimately, he won't come back for the next update.

LAYOUT - neutral here. didn't love it, didn't hate it.
