Hmmm... I've seen this comic before, but I think you were using Flash before and I never got it to work with my browser.

Art: It's good! You can tell what's going on... you have shades AND highlights, a rarity for comics. However, your art isn't improving very much. I reccommend pushing yourself harder. Art books help as well. There's always room for improvement.

Writing: Mmmm... It's okay. I wouldn't bookmark it. Usually misses, a few hits, but for the most part I'm just not laughin'. Using big words correctly instantly increases teh funnay efficiency. Sometimes the best humor is art based! But only a small percentage, so work on the words.

Thanks for the review! There was a point or two that I'm not clear on, however.

Artwise, yes, I agree I can improve, however, specifically where do you find the problem areas?

My big confusion lay in this sentence, however: "Using big words correctly instantly increases teh funnay efficiency." Do you mean I'm using big words incorrectly or that I should start using big words?

Thanks again and I hope you address these points for me! I love the feedback; I'm always looking for what I can improve.

Heh, sorry. I meant that you should START using big words... sorry if I offended you.

And the art... it's good. I just think you should push yourself. The first comics look almost exactly like the last.

My computer refuses to see this comic. Even if I turn off my firewall.

Thanks for the clarification, Giandroid. Nope, I wasn't offended, I just wasn't quite clear on it.

Eggbert: That's odd. Can you see other Comic Genesis sites? I know there are some firewall issues with it, but if you turned it off, I don't know what to say. Although I think if you add the site to a list of approved sites the firewall will stop blocking it, even if it's on.

Well for once I hoped that with 5 replies that 4 people would have already written reviews and I wouldn't have to write one. Not because I hate writing reviews or anything, but midterms are coming up and I could use the studying.

Oh well, screw that. I'll review this comic.

The art and backgrounds are pretty high quality here. Even many of the much bigger online comics don't use backgrounds this much. Your backgrounds most always remind the reader of where the characters are. That's a big plus. As for the characters, well they're not exactly the best things ever drawn, but they're interesting, iconic in their design, and they work. However sometimes your paneling is hard to follow, such as on this page.
But overall it works.

Writing...is entertaining. It keeps me reading, but it's not laugh out loud funny. Still, there've been few comics that ARE laugh out loud funny on the net...very few. So just inspiring to continue to be entertaining, or maybe even more entertaining would be a better goal.

Overall I like this comic. It's fun, easy to follow, easy to read, with good backgrounds. No amazing artistic feats here, and nothing that's the 'most original thing ever' but it's entertaining. And that's something I enjoy.

whoa.. who's approval are you looking for here? This is an established comic; its own website, published (self?) books, and an online store.. is stuff in your store selling? then you're great, somebody cares. but you must be interested in what the folks with a common interest think, so i'll submit my first review.

Visually, the color is what stands out. sharp, but sometimes dark (i didn't make out the ninja gerbil until his 3rd appearance) GREAT shadows and highlights. it looks professional. but the character design is underwhelming. most characters have those little black dot eyes and their lower bodies sit strangely. there's also the old Disney 'some have pants and some have shirts'. all or nothing man, otherwise it's just weird. while there can be strength in simplicity, this comic seems to be striving for something more. also, they're not really cute, as i think the overall tone of the comic suggests they should be. this especially stands out since your main character is a penguin, an animal that can't help but be cute. if cuteness isn't what you're after, no worries, they have their own appeal. it's the family-oriented punchlines (not to be condecending, they're just a little bland) lead me to think you're trying to create a cast of memorable cartoon animal characters, and i wouldn't buy a stuffed animal of any of these guys.

as far as reading it, as i mentioned, a lot of banal jokes. there are some hits, but i think i laughed at them out surprise that it was particularly clever than that it was actually very funny. the comics that carry story arcs are fun and show the ability to take an idea and break it into bits that further a narrative while standing on their own; a highly valued and difficult task for a cartoonist.

it's a daunting task to create a cast of lovable, relateable cartoon critters, and i admire the effort. if nothing else, the sheer volume is impressive.

keep in mind this is a review from someone waaaay less developed and established than this creator (a quick look at my comic should nullify any points i may have made here). overall, OBS isn't a webcomic i'd check for updates on, and i probably would buy something else over the print version, but it's far from a wasted effort. sincerely, keep it up, i can definately see an audience for this. hell, i may even get a t shirt.
