This looks promising.

Wow, this is very very nice.

Art - My only qualms are the text and the proportions. Though the handwritten text works, sometimes it fits strangely in the bubbles and looks messy. Very small detail...And sometimes your proportions seem a little off, slanted faces and whatnot. But those are my only complaints. I absolutely LOVE the coloring: the range of colors, the smoothness, your backgrounds are simple but very very nice. I really dig the look. And your style is nice. I can tell it's slightly anime-derived, but you've definitely hooked onto something entirely your own. Bravo.

Story - Very cute. Nothing too terribly original, but you tell it very smoothly and with some good characters. I'd have to say your characterization is very strong, as each character definitely has their own voice and you established that early and effectively.

Humor - I really like the humor in this comic. In some ways it reminds me of my own, with lots of cynicism, sarcasm, and self-mockery. I got a few very genuine chuckles out of some of your jokes. I also really like how it's a story comic, but each page feels complete in itself with a joke anyway. I think that's a hard thing to achieve in a comic, and you've got it down.

Oh, I'm disappointed that I can't seem to find the "add to favorites" link anywhere on the page D:

Alrighty here...

Art- Asthetically pleasing (did I spell that right?) mostly because of the nice color scheme. I like the changing colors that you seem to use. Keeps things fresh. The panel layout is varied. Interesting. The anime stuff gets to me a little bit, but I'm a cynical person.

Story- Weird, crazy, and sorta interesting. I like how we concentrate on both Heaven and Hell in these stories, and the lives of two people in each. This is basically a gag comic though. I liked the cameos of Death and Father time. That was cool.
However overall the comic doesn't really grab me. The hell chapter was just too crazy. But maybe the heaven chapter will be better? I like comics with God in them.

Overall nice effort, and kudos on the colors.

Ooooh look, I'm reviewing.

There is nothing really not to like about this comic, it's generally agreeable but dosen't stick out as anything really interesting.

Das Kunst:
The art Varies in how good it is, for the main part it is consistantly high quality and the colour is absoloutley fantastic, but my one complaint is anything with wings, the wings are just horrible, they look malformed and redundant, this would be fine if it was the case, but one character with wings is seen flying which just looks silly.

Die Geschichte:
The story, well there is a story, it looks to be going in a fairly standard direction, nothing really to say about it. as for the characters they seem a bit boring with the only interesting one being death, otherwise they seem like standardised, emoey characters with no really discernable personalites. there are also some points i thought were rather odd, like how apparently something in hell can die without imidiatley reapearing there, and how apparently Death is an evil entity instead of an entierly neuteral one.

Der humor:
The only real comic relief seems to be Death, his lines and general attitude are the thing that is remotley comedic, none of the other characters say or do anything really amusing.

Zusammenfassung:
It looks nice, Really nice actually, but I found it a bit dull to read and found the characters to be boring. I would have to say to people; read it yourself and see if you like it.
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.

Also, tell random people they are awsome! it helps!

I basically agree with a lot of what people are saying-- decent art, a story that is not bad but not quite there. As a writer whose stories develop slower than they should, though, I feel for you.

The keyword for this comic is potential: I can feel it there, wriggling under the surface. I'm curious to see what it will look like when there are 100 strips.

To make some more concrete observations, the characters' faces are weirdly inconsistent. This is partially because of the manga convention of going all big-headed and weird-eyed from time-to-time, but it's also because the shapes of peoples' heads keep changing. This is especially true for Zoe, and while the clothes make sure I know it's her, it's still distracting. I think her nose is moving around a bit, too. Being on-model is really hard, but it's important. You may want to reduce the number of chibi transformations until you're more comfortable drawing your characters "as they really are."

Zoe's profile also needs help matching her straight-on shots. Take a look at page 19... those aren't the same two heads.

I like Death's skeletal fingers. Likewise, I like the designs on the two "dark angels." The broken halo/horns is pretty inventive.

Don't forget to look up words like "scythe." Some people can get away with bad spelling-- Jennie Breeden has this power-- but it's a rare gift.

Perspective is a little wobbly still, though mostly consistent. The boots on page 14, for example, drive me crazy.

Sorry it took me so long to reply...but thank you everyone who left a review! I appreciate everything you said and will work on proportions, story, etc in the future. :D

tgrshrk06: I think your review was the most helpful. :) Though I would never consider myself a manga artist. My style is derived from anime but it also has some of my own stuff thrown in there. (i.e. the way I draw noses) Admittedly, I don't really enjoy writing but I do love creating characters and stories for them..so..yes. But don't worry, I did throw a storyline in there. I just haven't gotten to it yet.

victor_von: Dear God, I hope I can make it to 100 pages. we shall see. I'm pretty slow when it comes to updating. I get distracted by random things.

mimarin: well I'm glad you find Death amusing? :D

Cocoa: ah yes, my faces are inconsistent. My style is flawed..but..with more practice, I hope to perfect it. Dry and random humor should be my middle name. Or lazy ass. :P

ccs1989: I always like your reviews and I'm happy to see that you didn't hate my comic XD The heaven chapter should be more interesting if it goes the way it does in my head.

suzi: I'm a fan of your comic, yay! :D Thanks for complimenting my style..it's a bit weird but it is all my own. That's weird that the add to favorites button isn't on there...I uh..I don't know how other people faved it. Maybe they just bookmared it? I'm sorry about that, I'll try to fix it if I can.

what I liked
My absolute favorite part of this comic was the character designs, I like how demons and fallen angels look more like kids at a goth club. Most of the characters are some sort of celestial or demonic being, and the main character is a half-demon. It's very easy to get overly melodramatic with a character set like that, so what makes For God's Sake stand out is the fact it isn't too melodramatic. The jokes that are used are the kind that sneak up and totally take you off guard and are usually really clever.
what I did not like so much
The characters and story in Hell were strong, but the characters and story in Heaven didn't compare well. Honestly the whole time I was reading Chapter 2 I was waiting to get get back to the story with Satan, Zoe, Death, Blaze and Kolos.
overall
A really well made, funny comic that I would actually recommend to my friends.

FOR GOD'S SAKE by HAPPYCOW

Ok, i knew i was going to love this comic from the very start! The artwork is inviting, neat, clear and quirky. The quality of the art re,mains strong through out the entire 48 pages or so that have been posted. I love the hand written lettering (which usually can be so so bad!) and think the coloring is above par!

But the best part of this comic is the characters. All of them in all three dimensions (Hell, Heaven and earth) come across as having well developed personalities! Each of the characters has a unique voice and direction.

I have Fav'd and rss'd this and will be back for every update from now on. Great stuff!

I loved God's hand puppet scene!

I really enjoyed reading 'For God's Sake'. Its (like someone said) very inviting with bold colors, art style, and humor. Your characters is well devloped and still is growing as the story goes on (as far as I can tell). You change panels which is a plus. I'm not big on comics that uses same panel sizes over and over again. It becomes a bore over times. I've already faved and I'm waiting for the next update!

The negatives.. right! Ok... The plot is a little bit weak. Right now I'm not sure if you're going for short stories arc or a full story comic. Other than that I'm being lazy right now and I'm telling ya to listen to other people critiques. :P

Best of luck! I would love to see your comic reach 100 and beyond.

I've loved "For God's Sake" since the first time I read it after it was featured. I fell in love with the thin marker-like outlines and the soft pencil-like colors. It's what keeps me reading today.

I also truly love the feministic feel to it. It's obvious it was made by a girl, and I think that's what draws it to me.

The art isn't amazing, but it keeps me interested. It's cartoony and cartoons are awesome. Things can be over exaggerated and HapyCow does a good job using just enough of a balance between realistic and beyond. Plus HC's fillers usually show some of her better works, like this for example.

The coloring is up to par, also, keeping in mind that this isn't a realistic comic (hell, they're demons and angels talking to God and Satan).

To conclude, I don't really feel like giving FGS a rating per say, I'd just like to tell her she's got a fan of me, and I'm giving her a thumbs up! Good work!
