Ah yes....another sprite comic...lets see...can't comment about art because it isnt there own. The dialogue, however is pretty good. The most recent comic had me laughing for a bit when the pirate lost his eye and happen to have a convient eye patch with him. Other than that, I can't really say much. I guess it's ok if you're into sprite comics, but frankly I've seen too many of them (especially ones for Final Fantasy). But keep of the funny stuff in this one.

Well, it's more readable that most sprite comics, but these sprites aren't iconic and can't easily be told apart, and because there aren't any lines to who is talking, I can't tell who'se who.

In fact, in battle two of these guys have the SAME SPRITES.

Okay, after that pointless opening sequence things get a little bit funny. Mainly because the people's sprites look different.

But by #11 you've completely lost me. I'm sorry, but you're going to have a more coherent plot line than this. Of course, seeing how I've never played a Final Fantasy game EVER I'm not the target audience.

Maybe those people who PLAY FF will like it.

OMG. As an avid fan of FFIII and an equally as avid HATER of sprite comics, I must say this is one of the funniest comics I have ever read. The twists on all the characters' personalities is frickin' hilarious, especially Edgar. I only wish there were more to the archives! The only thing about this comic, as others have mentioned, is that if you have not played the game it makes almost no sense whatsoever. It's an "inside joke comic". So basically, everyone who has not played FFIII go buy it right now to laugh your ass off.

See? That's the beauty of the web: You can appeal to a mass market, or you can go for the real niche audience, and you can be equally successful.

Can't say I was too moved by FF3.1, though.

Indeedy, I imagine that this comic could appeal to those who have played the game... so seeing as how it's targeting this niche audience, and having not played the game myself, I don't believe I could properly review it's content (since it's a sprite comic the content would basically cover the storyline itself... and maybe the placing of the sprites, can't say I have any idea how difficult or easy that is :? )

I think that what 8-bit theatre has shown though is that it IS possible to take characters from the FF universe, and create a story that can appeal to a relatively mass market (I love reading it, yet I've never played Final Fantasy 1)

The difference between my comic and 8-Bit Theater is that while both of us follow the storyline of our respective games, 8-Bit Theater makes up way more than me and at times, severely deviates from the story.

And with 8-Bit Theatre the character's personalities are more pronounced and it's easier to see who's talking at a given time.

I was just combing over old forum posts when I realized, anyone who is a gamer and hasn't played FF6 probably shouldn't call themselves a gamer. Anyways, yes this comic definately has a niche audience. Not that I care, In all honesty the only reason I continue to make them is because of requests by freinds (Who have all played FF6)

As Expert in a Sprite Comic I must do the best I can.

Sprites: Most of them are Riped from the Game while some are either Mouse made, or Edited.

Humor: Very funny, but then there are some ponits that get serious.

Plot: The plot follows the Game aswell Some made up ones.

Overall: I think I can say "This Final Fantasy comic is more Funner than 8-bit Thearter"

Was that a serious comment? Because I'm laughing.

Anyway, onto the review.

This will be based on a "Chunk-Review," where I didn't read the entire thing because it didn't interest me enough.

So, like most sprite comics, the quality doesn't improve at all through the archive. Okay. Next, I agree with everyone else (I'm assuming everyone else has said something about this) about the dialogue and it being hard to follow. Also, the characters (in the beginning) are completely impossible to decifer, and I don't know who is talking if I don't know the characters.

(Did I see a 3D screenshot from some other game in there too? Tacky.)

I found no humor, but I guess I'm not a real gamer on account that I havn't played this game, or any of the final fantasy sagas, spare a few sit-down minutes, testing out the gameplay, and just, utterly, hating it.

The plot is well-outlined. The very first comic tells you the entire starting plot in the first sentence. I find that kinda tacky as well. Who cares about the backstory of the plot? Just let the readers know the backstory isn't important, and shoot 'em right in the middle of a huge escapade of random ecounters, violence, and swearing (What was up with the characters fighting over who gets to kill the child?).

Plain and simple? I didn't like it.

Considering FFIII is still and will always be my favorite game of all time, I had to take a look at this comic. And from what I've read so far, I'm growing a liking to it. I get a chuckle or two from most of them, but byfar the best one is #17, "Ummm....I said 'Bob has the shits.'" That was classic.

Apart from that, it's very simple, and easy to read. The only thing I would change is the text between certain frames, like "Meanwhile" or "Just outside the castle" type thing. I tend to miss them, even though they sory of stand out. The titles of the strips are awesome. The titles themselves give me a laugh before anything else.

I like how the comic actually follows the true storyline of FFIII, but with a humoristic twist. Although I did find some of the comics to be a bit difficult to follow. And some have said that it was not funny if you do not know the characters, but like any sprite comic based on a specific game, you need to know the characters, and if you do, it's twice as funny. That's why I found this one so funny, the little details, like how Locke is extremely anal about being called a Thief, which rings true in the game.

I found it a bit odd how Edgar was extremely obsessed with Sabin at one point though. I mean, I know he missed him...but that much? =P But yeah, now that Sabin's in the comic, considering he's the best character ^_^, I have to keep reading. I'll be sure to check out that pixelatedempire.com site when I have a chance.

Great comic ^_^ Keep it up!
