The art:
Your basic cartoony style.. which isn't so bad for a regular comic strip with running gags. ^^;
however, my issue is with the bright magenta background you use your panels over... its' very.... distractingand seriously messes around with my eyes.

Characters: the characters has no real depth, but at least you can tell them apart in terms of personality..
and they sure help support the running gags they have going on, so that's not a bad thing.

writing/humor:
not my kind of humor, however it's cute and makes me smile at times.
so it's not too bad.
I'm on hitatus while I redo one of my webcomics. Be sure to check it out when I'n done! :)

Art: It's colourful and nice to look at. :) There's been definite improvement since the beginning, too, which is nice to see. The characters are all nicely defined and very different from one another, two, which is good. Sometimes when a comic has such a regular style (round heads, big round eyes etc.) the characters get hard to tell apart.

Story: It's not something that grabs me and sucks me in, but it's nice to dip into now and then. The plot isn't very deep, but the humour is good, and the characters are likeable. I enjoy reading it.

Layout: It's a nicely done comic. The speech bubbles sometimes come out of the panels and onto the border, which is a good way of getting more space to see the action. I have to throw in my lot with the other reviewer, though, that background pink is VERY bright. ;)

All in all, a good job. I like it. :)

Heya!

I can't say that I have had a chance to read all of your strips. But I read a great many of your early ones and quite a few of your more recent ones.

Art: It has a simple style that works well for the kind of strip you are doing, the character styles are simple and easy to distinguish from the others in the strip. I didn't really notice problems with the bright backgrounds as I thought it was just part of the bright and cheery scheme of the strip. I like what you have going on here. The dog is the perfect foil for this whole strip...I love his views on what is happening.

The art is not cluttered and you leave plenty of room between your speech bubbles and your art that the panels do not seem crowded.

Your early strips have a lot of static poses for the characters (IE the young Tan guy and the woman in the 24K bikini...) I want to say you did this as another inside joke but I am not sure. In later strips they seem to limber up quite a bit, so the change was nice.

Story: You have enough small plots going on here that the strip is refreshing each time, whether we are at the beach, in the cafe, or at Grommet's house, we have a good idea of what the storyline is for that setting. Your jokes follow the mini-plot and are more often funny than not. I've had a good giggle this morning looking at them.

Overall I was quite impressed with the strip...I will have to make frequent trips over there to see if I can get caught up...

Good Job!

The artstyle used for Dog's Eye View isn't the best, but it's got more than it needs for a "gag a day" style strip

I've never been able to get fully into the story, but I honestly think that it serves mostly as a setting for the gags, which is always good :D

All in all, this comic's had enough from the first read to keep it in my favourites list. So it's deffinatly worth the read

Wow, what a coincidence - I haven't even had a chance to look at the DD forums in what has probably been a couple of months now, and when I do look in, DEV is up for a review :D I'd forgotten I even put the comic up for review

Thanks for all the comments so far, guys, they've been very enjoyable to read - I know there haven't been that many yet, but I thought I'd respond anyway, to show my appreciation for those who have taken the time to read the comic and write some thoughts out on it :) Plus, people were commenting on the pink, and I just had to get in on that action :-D

Aurora Moon, Eviltwinpixie - the pink has long been a sticky point for people who have read the comic, and it's ncie to see it continue to be... even though the pink has been toned down greatly from when I started the comic! Like Darwin mentioned, I was aiming for a 'bright, cheery' look, and truth be told, I've used white backgrounds on the comic way back in the past and it didn't look as interesting as it does with the pink. I guess I'm just a sucker for the pink :P

Darwin - a good number of the static poses in the early strips were indeed a running joke at the time, but one that wasn't all that successful and I moved away from them (like the tan guy, the woman etc)... it was a combination of in-joke and lazyness though, as there was a lot of cuting and pasting in those early strips.

Joff - yeah, the stories are just fodder for the gags to be constructed around, so it's not all that important that you get into it to much.

The comic makes me think of Garfield except not always focused on the animal. Some of the jokes are funny. The lady in the real gold swimsuit joke was good. (haha she can't move.) I think the title doesn't fit the actual comic content. The strips are on people in bikinis and the beach than the actual dog character's view of the world.

I've been actively enjoying this strip for quite a while. The jokes are funny and the art has shown some improvement. The style fits the writing quite well, and there are enough plots to keep the reader interested. Good job.

I would say that this comic strip has an interesting concept. It's cute, and it looks like you put a lot of work into it.

Artwork: This style is clearly americanized (as opposed to anime-ized... you may kill me) and I like it very much. The artwork got better through time, and it showed consistancy (meaning it didn't really change all that much, so you still know which character is which without having to guess). Also, there is less copy-pasting in the end of the comic and more movement. Although, you don't seem to be adding more views to the comic. Meaning side view, back view, etc... I mean, you do, but it doesn't happen as much as it should. No one's head can stay in the same position for so long.

Humor: There are obviously different ways of humor. You know... slapstick, sexual, cute, sick, bad... And each way of humor should be used, and not only one, because it has more watchers that way. You add all of the humor, but I mostly see 'cute' humor. When I read it, I occasionally smiled, and sometimes, didn't smile at all. My humor is in the 'sick' and 'bad pun' category, and it doesn't reach my meaning of humor. I suggest that you put more varieties of humor instead of the same kind of humor, if you know what I mean.

Story: The story is very cute, and it flows along pretty well. It doesn't really catch my eye, but it's a good idea that may catch others' eyes.

Good job. Keep working on those comics. They're great! :D

This year, school's full of BS!!!
