This is an interesting comic. Quite different from JillyFoo's other comic, The Planet Closest to Heaven. Still horror in a way, but centered on a much different type of concept.
The beginning of this comic is really weird. Almost reminds me of the game FLOW, where you eat other creatures to grow bigger.
The art is really bizarre. Panels don't really exist in this comic, and neither does speech bubbles or anything like that. It's basically very weird pieces strung together by the narrative to create a visual story. There seems to be a lot of different type of media used in this comic. Watercolor, maybe another type of paint, the computer, maybe colored pencils?
Anyway it creates an interesting comic. Font is a little weird for a comic, but it's easily readable. Story drags on a little but it's still interesting.
Anyway this comic is cool, bloody, and very "artistically experimental" I guess you could say. Quite different from anything else out there.

Art - Unfortunately, there's not much to rave about in the art department - the pictures are often hard to make out, sometimes resorting to indistinguishable blobs. It's gotten much better in the later pages, but they're still a bit too scribbly at times. I can tell JillyFoo is trying something new, however, and for that I commend and encourage him; however, he may want to try to get advice from other people who have been doing similar styles.
Story - The story, however, is what really sells the comic. JillyFoo not only sets up an intriguing world, he supports and enriches it through his character and his adventures. You can really understand Saturno and what he's going through during his adventures. There are some lines of text that don't quite fit in with the mood set by the rest of the story (Saturno's "tah-daa" at the end of the first chapter comes to mind), but these are few and far between.
Overall - If JillyFoo continues to improve on his art as he has been, this could be an excellent comic. But even as is, Demon Eater is an original, engrossing epic that pulls you in and makes you care about the story, and not very many webcomics can do that.

Well, DE has definately been an experience reading, so lets review!
Art
Easily one of the most noticeble features of Demon Eater upon first glance is its artwork. With a style which evokes a surrealist, almost dreamlike atmosphere in the comic, Demon Eater entrances its audience with thick dark lines and violent splotches of colour.
The world of Demon Eater is dark and macabre, and the artwork reflects this world marvelously, pages such as 89 and 98 are dark and cloustrophobic, giving a visual impression of the enveloping darkness of DE.
And yet, in contrast to its usually brutal artwork, are brief moments of cuteness, as shown in page 81, such pages serve not only to lighten the mood of a usually dark story, but it reminds the audience of the almost childlike mentality of the main character Saturno, which perhaps makes the story all the more chiling given Saturno's nature as a killer and cannibal.
One downside of JillyFoo's highly stylistic artwork however, is that it is sometimes difficult to determine what is happening based merely on drawings alone and oftentimes it is only with the added narration that I am able to figure out what is happening pages 10 and 50 were especially hard to discern.
Story
Probably what most will say is the main selling point of Demon Eater, the story of DE is highly original and entertaining. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to describe the story and do it justice, but let's just say that its not your average webcomic.
One very interesting aspect to take note of, is that the story is almost exclusively propelled by the narration of Saturno. It strongly reinforces the solitary nature of the character and its world, where all other creatures are merely food, or enemies to be avoided. I particularly like page 83, where in the eyes of Saturno, the words of the other creatures are so unimportant that they appear merely as gibberish. Whether by purpose or laziness, JillyFoo's decision to use gibberish rather then intelligeble dialogue for the other creatures in this page provides one of the best insights into the nature of Saturno.
One complaint however, is that the story in its later stages does seem to slow a little. When I first started reading DE, I was clicking through page after page in rapid succession to find out what happens next. However, as the story progressed, the enthusiasm began to die off and some parts of the story even felt monotenous, though with the addition of the latest chapter, things seem to be picking up again.
Summary
Ultimately, Demon Eater stands on its on in the cluttered world of webcomics. It is thoroughly original and unique, which is probably both its greatest strength and weakness, as the very same characteristic is probably what draws viewers and what pushes others away. Nevertheless, I found it to be very enjoyeble read despite my usual disdain of the horror genre and would recommend Demon Eater to anyone looking for something a little different.

Art
I'd say average. Maybe 3/5.
She's better at drawing animals, monsters, and abstract things than humans. I dunno... thats just my opinion. :)
Story
I like the concept of a creature eating and eating and continuing to transform every time. Looks like some effort was put into making a design of the monsters and how it will transform as it moves up the food chain.
Plot seems to be still building up. Cant really tell how this is gonna end. Maybe Saturno will become a godzilla and then the humans and their tanks and jets will start fighting him. Maybe ultraman might show up or something. Or the power rangers... lol :)
I'd give the story 4/5.
Delivery
Panel flow is great. Pages easy to understand and follow. Nuff said.

Demon Eater By Jill Foo
The story of the evolution of a demon from the point of view of said demon is quite an original idea and DEMON EATER is heavy on originality and uniqueness. Although the art is places is quite messy and seemingly rushed, there are places where it is truly gorgeous, like page 78. No matter what you make of the style you have to say that it does compliment the story perfectly!
The story is great, although it drags in places and I found that I had to take two sittings to read the entire thing as it was getting quite samey to me. The current chapter is probably the most interesting so far as it steps up the pace somewhat! I am at a loss, however, as to the overall direction this comic is taken, which is rare these days. Most comics and Tv shows for that matter are blatantly obvious and I was tickled to find that i had no idea where the story was going to go next(it usually had something to do with eating demons tho...).
All in all, I enjoyed this comic. I probably wouldn't have spent as much time on it had i just discovered on my own, so full marks for singling out this comic for review. It has been Fav'd and i hope it goes from strength to strength!

Okay, so this comic is called Demon Eater, created by Jillyfoo. First off, let me say, I was NOT expecting such a dark comic by looking at Jillyfoo's avatar. xD I don't know h/she so I assumed it'd be light hearted. Anyway, on with the review.
Art: 8.5/10
I like the art, ALOT. I feel as though it matches the mood of the story very well. It's dark and creepy and literally sends chills down your spine. However, as previous reviewers stated, the art isn't very clear sometimes.
Story: 8/10
As far as we know, there's not much of a story. There is somewhat of a plot, which is Saturno trying to become the biggest demon. However, it isn't easy, because there alot of demons who also want to accomplish this goal. Jillyfoo really brings out the "dog eat dog" in this comic. The entire story, though, can use some work.
Character Development: 10/10
There's only one main character in the story so far. (Unless the demon currently will become one) Anyway, I fell in love with the little sadistic creature. We literally watch it grow, from a weak and frail demon, to a clever and crazy killing machine. If you don't fall in love with it, Saturno, in the first 30 pages, you're a madman. MADMAN! (or woman)
Humor: N/A
Although this has little to no humor, I particularly found page 44 hilarious. So, if you're someone searching for laugh-out-loud comedy, don't look here.
Flow: 9.9/10
I love the way the story is going. I didn't think I'd fave this when I was done, but now I'm mad that I have to wait for updates now. The only reason this category doesn't have a perfect ten is because the narrating has gotten pretty boring.
Overall: A
I love this, and you can expect to see me as a frequent reader. Great job, ya foo.

Sorry I'm bad at reviews. It is a little strange at first becuase it is set out differently to other comics but as time goes on you do get used to it and become a little attached to the main character. The drawings and the use of water colours (?) give it a creepy edge and make it appear some what warped. This is good as it gives a different perception of the demonic realm that Saturno (main character) struggles to survive in.
Art: 9.5/10
Story: 8/10
Character: 9/10 (WHAT?! I like Saturno)>:)

Seven reviews?! That's more than I had ever hoped for! Thank you so much!
I think what a lot of you had in common in the critique was the existence of the "boring chapters". I'm betting that is my build up chapters 3 Grow or Die and/or 7 Growing up? Probably Growing up. I'll have to have more focus in the chapters ahead. (I kept on adding scenarios haha ...ha.)
Oh and there will be more characters. And with that will hopefully come a deeper plot. Just wait a bit.
I don't know just how much I'll have Saturno narrate as the comic had more spoken dialogue. Probably narrate less.
I did get rid of that line from the print version. I should probably get it of it on the online version too. Haha you thought I was a boy...
Anywho thanks a butch guys. I'll be sure to return the favor!

I'm going to flat-out say it: this is a wierd comic. That's not necessarily a bad thing; what I mean is that the art, plot, and just about everything else about this comic is radically different than most of everything out there.
Onto the review!
Art-
This is the oddest thing about the comic. It's very impressionist, and not very detailed. This actually adds to the comic, by giving it that feel of mystery and vagueness. Sometimes, it's difficult to tell what's happening, but overall, I like the style, and it fits the comic well. (4.5/5)
Story-
Pretty interesting, but so far it seems fairly shallow. In fact, my one complaint about the story is its almost glacial pace- at 100 pages, it's just starting to get really interesting. And at weekly updates, I'm not sure this will change. However, it is interesting. (4/5)
Overall-
Very interesting comic, with a wild story and wilder art style. However, the plot moves extremely slowly. But what is there is excellent. (4.5/5)

This has been on my favories for some time now...
BASIC IDEA: 9/10
DE is a very interesting read. Basically, Survival of Fittest taken to the extreme. In the world of Demon Eater, the creatures must eat one another in order to stay alive, but eating live prey can have terrible effects on one's mind, as you inherit the prey's mind as well. So, careless demons end up with alternate personalities.
ART: 8/10
I like it. The style is very unique. The creature designs are quite imaginative and the artwork has something of a gritty feel to it. Some people might be a little put off by it, but I find the art to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of DE.
STORY: 8/10
The story is told through the eyes of the demon (for lack of a better word), Saturno. He slowly learns about the world outside and how to adapt to it, and uses it as a tool for hunting. This is a first person narrative with very few speech bubbles. The style in which the tale is told gives off a creepy feeling and, combined with the art, sets the perfect mood for this comic.
OVERALL: 8.5/10

I know I am a bit late at this, but I had to read it all!
Demon Eater
The pages are full but the panels are big and the story moves along fairly fast, making it a great read. Some of the earlier pages were complicated to understand because of the dark washes of color, but I was able to walk away knowing what happened when it was over, which is what counts. The story is very linear in my opinion; itâ??s all about Saturno and his life, and not much else. There are no secondary characters because he eats everyone he meets, except for that 'human eater' character. Because of that the audience is limited to only Saturno, but he is a round character and I for one am completely thrilled all the same.
I really enjoy watching Saturno on the screen. His design is very demonic, but is it ok that I want to put a bow and bell around his neck and walk him outside, show him to my annoying neighbors? And that chubby 'frogdog' version from 'Walking in the sun' reminds me of my cat, so I can't resist loving him! He morphs his body when he consumes another demon, so the design never gets old. He is a character with personality in his remarks, and he learns from his mistakes...or repeats them a second time, THEN learns :) He lies, he kills, and he's sometimes mean. But his demon world is a place of survival, and I couldn't blame him.
Overall, I whole heartedly enjoyed Demon Eater. The art is reminiscent of the nightmares I had as a child, which means I probably had seen something similar. But the style is unique and it burns a dark picture into your mind. The brush work (I assume) is absolutely fantastic! It's fluid and gives life movement in the panels. The demon world is dark and oppressive but in contrast the human world is bright and colorful. I will continue to read it!
