Okay, this is gonna be a crappy review, 'cause I think this comic is pretty darn funny. I LOLed more than once.

The art is simple, but perfectly conveys any & all pertinent info.

The jokes are often off-kilter, but don't rely on over-the-top violence, sexual innuendo , or just plain rudeness to achieve the humor. Oh, don't get me wrong. There is a little of each of those sprinkled here & there in the strips, but they actually have impact because they aren't the main device intented to create a laugh, so when they show up they actually have some shock value.

LPC is just funny, absurd fun. Great stuff!

Later,

a huge fan of the daily comics thing! I grew up reading Calvin and Hobbs, Far Side, Fox Trot, Dilbert, Robotman (even the early crappy ones), Perry Bible Fellowship (was all grown up when I started reading this). Last PLace Comics falls right into these types of strips. As said before its charm comes from its randomness. Sometimes you can see the punchline coming but your brain refuses to believe it. The art isn't going to win any awards but it is solid! (and his version of Jesus rocks)

The odd thing about this strip is there are no characters that I can see per se, but you still kind of get to know them. Kind of like the Far Side. I love the humor, and most of the jokes. Some are too simple from time to time, but that is about the only knock I give it. Since it is a short review I will leave off with some of my favorite ones!

http://www.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/index.php?p=310802

http://www.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/index.php?p=315477

http://www.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/index.php?p=294921

http://www.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/index.php?p=278216

http://www.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/index.php?p=271079

And it was hard to narrow it down to just these ones!

Fans of the funny pages NEED to check this out. This is by far the smartest, funniest strip comic I have seen so far on da duck!

Keep up the good work and don't fall into the trap of using only fart and sex jokes. ;P thanks for the laughs!

firstly, i have to establish that this is one of my favorite comics on drunkduck.

probably my favorite thing bout this comic is, while the strip is somewhat hit or miss, even the strips that aren't as funny as the others are entertaining. the humor seems to be an extention of the artist's personality, and i can imagine that if he didn't do something like this with all the ideas he gets he'd have silliness oozing out of his ears. and fantastic ideas they are; when it misses it falls flat, but when it hits it's brilliant, i dare say even on par with stuff like pbf. the art i love as well; it's not too simplistic but it's not complex either; it's ideal for his purposes.

i love this comic. it's one of two that i reccommend, though i'm sure i'll add more in the future. 4.5/5
you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

If ever there was a peer on Drunk Duck that has my respect, its the person that makes this one. It looks great, always funny or gets you to have a thought, its just great. I can't recommend it enough. Its on my favorites, updates pretty regularly as far as I can tell, and its always good quality. You can see the change in time from the first pages to the new pages, and that is an impressive change. Its just a good web comic that I'm proud to be on the same site with.

This comic is fantastic. As I read through the archives, I kept pestering my friends with links to my favourites. That's right, it was funny enough that I felt the need to share. The artwork is simple, but distinctive and well suited to the style of the strip. I honestly can't think of a strip I like better than this one.

I discovered this comic via this comic review forum and I'm very glad i did.
The jokes and tone of the comic fits me perfectly. It's all kinda silly, but with a darker tone. It takes up some, at times, pretty gross subjects but it's all done with a giggle and never gets disgusting or tasteless. The art is simple but fits the comic perfectly. It's somewhat cute and the characters has great expressions.

The only thing i can really complain about is some of the missing opportunities i find when i read the archives. There are stories that could be re-visited and characters that id love to see more of. "The Justifier" for example is such a great super-hero and should go on more adventures.

Some of the best jokes are repeat jokes such as "dr Ninja" and the "Unicorn" and id love to see more of these character from the archive make new appearances.

Anyway, all in all a solid favorite!

Wooo! My first review here, isn't Exzachly lucky?
ooh let us break this down, because I'm pretty bad at reviews

ART
The art isn't that good, but it's still great. It's cartoony, and that's awesome!
And I'm hardly one to complain about art...
Anyway, I like how every character has no pupils, and has pale white skin, it's like a trademark, like he Simpsons with their yellow skin..But I digress

Jokes and STUFF
The jokes are hilarious. When I read through the whole archive, I couldn't control my laughing, my family were looking at me weirdly. I don't think I've seen one comic where the jokes are slightly unfunny. They're all great.

OTHER stuff
I keep sending my friends links. I don't know if they ever check them out, but I'm ALWAYS sending them.
I only actually found this comic when I was messing around Drunkduck, and I found the features, on top of the list was Last Place Comics, I decided to click it. And I'm unbelievably happy I did. It deserved that feature.

In conclusion I give you this. Read them or I'll cry blood on you, and you'll have to go to the dry cleaners again.
AND DO YOU WANT THAT!?
THIS NEW SITE SUCKS I'M LEAVING FOREVER I PROMISE, GUYS.
NOT BLUFFING, I'M GONE IF YOU DON'T FIX IT.
Oh god I'm so alone someone pay attention to me

Art 7/10 The art isn't the great, but I don't think it really matters. I'm still able to tell what obgects are. I have never found a time where I had to make a guess at what something is.

Characters: 7/10 I'm not sure if the characters have a name or not. When making a comic characters are the most important things. The personalities, likes dislikes, ect. I cannot find a pesonality for a character except for "funny", which does not cut it.

Humor: 10/10 The humor is very important in a comic strip. It can't be offensive, and must be funny to everyone. Slapstick humor is not funny to everyone, and it's a good thing I haven't found any in here. Thankfully every page in this comic is funny.

Dialogue: 10/10 The dialoge is well planned out, done perfectly for the perfect gag. Dialogue is another important thing in a comic strip. This comic seems to exceed in this category.

Closing note: Just because this comic is funny doesn't mean it's perfect. There are still much needed improvments in the art and character department.

Overall: 34/40 (85%, B )

Gary Larson didn't have set characters. And the Far Side is considered one of the greatest strips to even grace the planet. Just saying

It should be noted... there is a main character who appears in about 70% of the strips. When I started this strip I knew nothing about webcomics and the webcomic world. I just did it for me and my friends to laugh at. The main character is me, Zach Cranor, but I never call him that cause I quickly learned that having yourself as the main character is one of the biggest cliches in all of webcomics. So, out of shame and embarassment, I rarely refer to him by name. Maybe because he's nameless, some people don't recognize him as a recurring character. Dunno.

When making LPC, I only have one goal in mind: make it as funny as possible. It's kind of a trade off. If you have a set of well defined characters, then you're limited in the type of jokes you can do, you may have a great idea for a strip, but can't do it as it would undermine the characters as you've established them. On the other hand, without well defined characters, the audience has nobody to become attached to. I'd be interested to hear if other people do or don't feel that the lack of well defined characters hurts the strip.

I noticed you have a character that is kind of the main but as the reader we don't know him. Nor do I think we need to. In the mold of Far Side and Perry Bible Fellowship, which have characters we see all the time but know nothing about. In a comic full of random events, the last thing it needs is a stable cast. Just my humble opinion about it

I'm not really one to do big long reviews or anything like that but I did want to say that this is a great comic. One that I always look forward to reading because it makes me laugh. Thats all I really want in this kind of strip. Like others have said its a bit like "The Far Side" only it tends to get a bit more raunchy which is totally fine by me. Kudos to Zach for making such a great web comic!

Last Place Comics is simply one of the funniest comics on DD. I like the simplistic drawing style and how the humor can take you completely off guard! I also appreciate how there really isn't a story or theme that's readily apparent. One could argue that doing that makes the comic too disjointed and random, but it works well for this format. Personally, I like that every page is about something different and never fails to surprise.
I'd recommend this comic to anyone who likes Perry Bible Fellowship, partly because of some obvious similarities in the coloring style and crazy humor. On the whole I think that Last Place Comics is different enough from any other comic out there to stand as it's own thing. 10/10

Last Place Comics is probably one of the few strips which I actually look forward to updating and laugh out loud when reading. The art is minimalistic with its "no name every man or woman" characters looking like Mike Myers in the Schprockets skit from SNL. but the strip is not really about the art. The comic is about the absurd, random, surreal, obscene humor which I have come to love. The content is also not stolen from other strips or commentary on social events or recent events, but its original, fresh and out of no where!

I highly encourage anyone and everyone who is looking for a hilarious comic strip, go check out Last Place Comics!

Ok- this comic is incredibly screwed up. It's offensive, it makes little to no sense, it's poorly drawn and I couldn't be happier with it. On a few of the panels, I laughed till I cried, especially with deranged tooth man. I favorited it, and continue to read, and reread most of the panels. The random violence, and parodies of topics that desperately need to be parodied keep the humor coming, and prevent it from getting old, even through the huge number of comics permeating the page. I'm exceedingly happy with how absurd it is, and screwed up humor is my favorite kind. You never see what is going to happen next, or who is going to die in a hilariously bloody fashion next. The decidedly offensive jokes often spur a laugh simply out of disbelief. With it's "What the hell" moments, gory humor, and in your face originality, I highly recommend it to everybody...ok, maybe not small children or hyper-conservatives, but everyone else, take a look. unless you're at work or school, 'cause you may get caught with it because you're the only guy/girl in your cubicle laughging until he/she cries for a minute and a half.
10/10, 5/5, Five stars, and a smack on the wrist for killing so many small furry animals.

Why do I continue to read "this comic is poorly drawn"?

Please, please tell me where it's poorly drawn?

Have you guys heard of a thing called art? Zac does EXACTLY what is needed for the strips. He doesn't overdo it, he doesn't UNDERdo it. He does it. Perfectly on par. It fits perfectly.

Zac is my kind of man. He responds to my comments with witty comments of his own, because he is FUNNY GUY AND HE GETS HOW HUMOR WORKS. I wish I knew him in real life so that I could make out with his comedy.

And you guys are silly if you haven't noticed it's Zac in 70% of the strips (and yes, I knew that before I read his responses to this thread). He's the one with the raggedy hair and the KICKASS ATTITUDE because that has Zac written all over it.

Hey Zac. Keep on rocking. You rock. So keep on doing that thing that I previously mentioned.

This is so cute. The drawings look great and the jokes make me titter. I have tittered at this. I'm just trying to say titter as many times as I can say titter. Titter.
10 out of a possible 11 points

Edit: A bit more. These are the style of comics I like best. I don't know why. There's weirdness but there's also a sort of cuteness to it that makes it special. There's a sort of pacing between panels. It always feels fast and frantic. That's a good thing though. It helps make the punchlines unpredictable.

(My first review here!)
LPC is amazing.
The humor is dark, and inappropriate for all in the best ways.
I nearly always literal lol when I read one of the strips.
The art is nothing AMAZING, but it nice on the eyes, and it gets the job done for the humor QUITE nicely.

My major problem with the comic, is that you don't update enough. The jokes are funny, but because it is, like, two or three we weeks between updates, it is easier to make such good jokes.
To reiterate: Update more. (If you can keep up the quality.)

Fun Fact:
I gave the Invention That never Should be Made (#1) printed out, to my engineering teacher as a going away present.

The lack of updates is a recent thing.... For most of the comic I was pretty strict about adhering to a twice a week update schedule, then I went on a sudden unannounced hiatus due to lots of school work for about a month and a half... I've gotten a pretty bad case of the lazies since coming back to it. Gotten too used to not doing comics. But I've been feeling more motivated now, so I'm gonna pick up my old update schedule again starting Tues.

Thanks for the support guys and sorry about those slow updates.

(First review!) I absolutely love this comic. The humor reminds me of The Perry Bible Fellowship; the jokes are just so random "out there", that it boggles my mind how one guy can come up with all these gags.

Writing: Being a gag strip, there is no storyline or main characters, so new readers don't have to worry about going through the whole archive to get caught up. Some of the jokes are better than others, of course, but it's pretty consistent as far as keeping it funny. One of the things, however, that may cause many eyebrows to be raised in the readers is the kind of humor that you'll find in many strips. Much like the Perry Bible Fellowship, many of the jokes are borderline tasteless (what with the humor making light of things like Pedophilia and rape). And don't think I'm trying to say that LPC is trying to be like PBF, but the similarities are there.

Art:The art is pretty simple, but it's appropriate considering the fact that it's a gag strip. It doesn't really need brilliant art because the jokes are enough to carry the entire comic by itself. (And I dare say that with gag comics such as this, if you spend too much time with the art, it might actually take away from the joke, which in this case is the most important thing.) As far as I'm concerned, if a comic doesn't have good writing, in the long run it really doesn't matter if the art is good or not. Bad art is easier to overlook than bad writing.

Excellent job on it so far,Exzachly! I've seen a lot of gag strips on the Internet, but this is one of the best out there!

The simple and clean art suits the humor of this comic. :) Well, maybe not so much the clean... but it's not busy or overexaggerated which I love. Keep up the good work! :)

Reviewo Numero Dos:

No discredit for the artist, but I was actually having trouble figuring out if it was a character or simply gag comic at first. As there was one main character for a lot of it I thought we were following one persons journey, then no it was gag stuff and random people. Likely it was just me not paying enough attention.

Art: Works great for the gag purposes. As the artists work progresses he improves greatly which just makes the work more enjoyable, adds a nice "carefree" fun to the dark humor of the work. As the art progress it gets a very Perry Bible look to it, which I guess is understandable as P.B. kinda set the standard for these sort of comics. I will clarify it's not a complete rip off, but there are clear similarities at some points. I see nothing wrong with that.

Story: Obviously a gag comic so there's no real story, but there are some reoccurring character which I like. One I felt was the strips often are really dialog heavy, explaining more than the reader needs to know. I guess to me this would be an example (a strip I found to be pretty funny):

http://comics.drunkduck.com/Last_Place_Comics/pages/968125c3eed96b8ea8e9c7c94e06ad43.jpg

In the first two frames I don't think what the wife says is necessary (but that's not really the one I have a problem with), and in the second one the husband doesn't need to tell us that the ghost moved all that stuff, it'd be pretty clear to us. I mentioned Perry Bible earlier. Initially I was a little turned off to the Last Place because of what I noticed as similarities, and I thought "if I wanted to read PBF, I would read that, cause he does it the best", but I continued reading on and noticed they were very different gag directions. Although both gag based, Last Place felt more "people oriented" because it used reoccurring characters, while PBF is more random situations. Also I feel Last Place is at times meant for you to relate to more, or have "hey I've been there/thought that" moments.

At times though the gags only get a "I see what you did there' responses from me. You come to expect a certain bite in the gags, and when they don't have them it's kinda disappointing. Overall though this is a fun read!

Sorry if this isn't the best review structure wise...I'm really tired

Alright now this is something I am absolutely in love with. Let's get down to it:

The Story:
Haha! There isn't any! that's the beauty of it. Gag-a-day ftw I say. It's humorous, it's witty, it's bite-sized, gives you your fix and none of the potential frustration that accompanies following a long plotted web comic. Believe me, I hate some of my favorite writers out there because of how slowly they update their comics, some stories are a few years old too and nowhere near a closure. So this here is a gold mine as far as I'm concerned.
Now, I'd say I like the characters, except here too it's done in a manner to make you feel detached yet addicted to see what else is coming up next strip. Endless possibilities. Genial.

The Art:
Ok, 1st feeling when I started reading: That dude just draws as he eats his morning toast, using a ball pen and probably a napkin as drawing paper. But the thing is, you can't help but feel a certain degree of professionalism in there. It's like when a veteran does what they do best in such a casual way that it feels sloppy yet you know it's because it's done with confidence and a certain degree of daring. As I said I love it.

All in all, I give it 9/10, definitely one of my favorites. :)
Aggie. solemnly

Alright, Last Place Comic is an amusing daily comic strip about random topics and crazy happenings. I noticed that there's one main character in the comic who is a black haired bully that appears occasionally in several strips. >:)

ART
The art draws me to read this comic in the first place. With simple, clean and neat work, the comic is presented decently. :) I like how the color usage in the comic where the every strip limits not to have at least more than 5 colors, I think. I'm quite surprised that the author has adequate handwriting. B) Character expressions fit well with the humor.

STORY
There seems to be no continuances in the whole comic which make it easy to enjoy without worrying about the character background and such. The nasty jokes made me laugh and certainly entertaining. lol! The best strip would be the Ninja Tree strip which is the most creative one to me. Another one of my favourite is the anniversary strip. Hehee... :kitty:

EXTRA
Something did bothered me about the comic though. Being a conservative(perhaps overly sensitive :spin: ) mommy, somehow I failed to tolerate some mean jokes involving children. :( For example, there were strips where innocent kids end up in jail, the guy making April Fool prank when their parents' life at risk, tattooing a baby, destroying a nice sand castle. huh!? Ohh.. poor kiddies. I dunno about others but I honestly find it difficult to accept this kind of humor. Sorry. Though, I'm pretty sure the author never meant any harm (he even mention 'the worst dad' in one the strip I'm referring too. ;)

CONCLUSION
Overall, I give Last Place Comic a 3/5. It has one of the funniest title for a webcomic too. 8D
Eternity: A Light-Hearted Romance Manga ^_^

Last place comics starts slowly. The first few are not very well drawn and the the jokes are nothing to write home about....
BUT STICK WITH IT!
For the love of god stick with it!
The world that begins to emerge through these comics is so delightfully, wonderfully evil that as I read I kept thinking I had reached the high point of what disturbing images and ideas it could show me, but every time it pushed the envelope even further!
Twisted and insane, last place comics has really found its stride and tramples all in its path in an orgy of twisted distopian visions and horrifically warped versions of once wholesome symbols.
The cool aid guy as the alien?
Evil unicorns at the end of the rainbow?
Finger guns that kill?
A cocky kid getting tentacle raped by a nonsensical ice pun spouting spiderman on a unicycle?
Ah hell yeah!
Once you get through the rather rough early comics the art is simple, but clear and consistent. I can tell which character is which and the humour and situation are very clear. It is basically just enough to complete its purpose of telling the jokes.
But if you wanted pretty pictures, go to an art gallery.
If you want to seen a man having an horrible accident while shooting spider web out of his penis (and believe me you do!) then read last place comics.
Though it may be too twisted for some tastes, I would recomend everyone with an appetite for genuinely disturbed madness check this out.
I've faved this comic and you should too!
(Or Mr DNA will come from your blood and kill you!)

I wish I could say something bad about this comic so Exzachly's head doesn't explode with ego, but I can't, this is one of the best comics I have read on drunk duck. The humour is original and always hillarious. While reading it I keep thinking how professional it feels, as if it is completely out of place on drunk duck.
I can't understand why alot of reviews comment on the artwork not being great. It is terrific, a lot of people seem to confuse good art with having the reader ask "hang on is this a photo comic?" It doesn't have the same style as most drunk duck comics but it is at the top of the cartoon style.
I would really like to see a lot more webcomics like this on drunk duck.
