The Writing: This is a fun little comic. I think right now it's treading that fine line of a semi-serious story with a totally ridiculous premise. Its got alot in it that can easily fall into cliche animu plot and character devises, but so far it's been able to build on most of the positive aspects without falling to the negative ones. It is a fine line though so I'd be wary of where you actually take this story, lest you lose alot of the stuff that makes this fun in all the belabored conventions found in anime. Like the whole "ninja has to kill her peers to finish her training" I've seen about a billion times before, and totally saw it coming, so, why didn't she? Plus, I don't know any of these classmates of hers so why would I care if she killed them? And then the master being like "you taught me a lesson today" was pretty ridiculous too. But like I said, as long as you don't take this sort of thing too seriously, and choke things down with the heavy handed symbolism that haphazard character arcs that seems to kill alot of similarly themed japanese fiction you should be fine.

Art: The art here is better for the splash pages than the other pages, but thats not because any panels are specifically better or worse than any others. The inking style just yeilds things that way. I guess this is really more of an observation than a critique. Basically keep doing what you're doing, it looks good... with the possible exception of computer textures. They're always distracting to me. I don't think they add texture to a comic, more like they break the reality for me because I no longer feel the environement I think "oh theres a computer texture."

This is a pretty decent comic, but it's pretty early on it it's lifespan and it's hard to tell wether it will live up to it's pontential to be good or it's potential to be awful, because both those things are possible for this story. I'm hoping it's the former. Right now its a light, fun comic, with likeable characters. As long is it stays that type of comic it'll be a pretty good read!

Impression: It's a unique story. The plot reminds me a lot of Buffy the Vamplire Slayer, kind of a high school teen drama with a ninja twist to it. I can see it appealing to the high school crowd. The manga style of the drawings do emphasize the cute teeny feel of it. Overall, it's a interesting plot with some pretty impressive art.

Story: I found the beginning to be a little distracting. I know its meant to be a flash back, but the first couple panels got me prepared for more of a "sin city" feel, but the flash back took me back to a almost ancient asian theme with the ninja talk and swords. Then just when im settling into this setting, I'm taken to a high school setting. The story is quite unique, blending the different worlds, and I think the future chapters will have to look into making that blend smooth.

Writing: The writing is very enjoyable. Excellent descriptions and great transitions in dialogue. I can sense characterization through the speech of the characters and the story moves along well.

Art: The art is very impressive in some scenes. Sometimes I see feel that the positioning and perspective have a very professional look to it, but other panels kind of shift to a sharp angular look. The round and cuter drawings bring out that experienced manga look, but when the drawings turn kind of sharp and angular in other panels, it brings it back down a bit. Some examples are when drawing Paige, her face becomes sharper and narrow. Other than that, like I said, the scenary shots are very clever and well done.

Conclusion: Its a fun comic with a interesting edge to it. You easily become invested in the characters, especially Paige, and you do grow curious as to how the two worlds will meet.

Plot: An former ninja student attends an art school. She quits being a ninja after she found out a little horrible test the teachers made her preform.

Story: I like the concept. I like the main character Paige. She has enough troubles and guilt that make her a little more interesting. I really enjoy this world. I like the fact that we have people that are magical in nature deciding to take a much normal college education(then again it's still an art school) I'm interested in knowing more about Paige and her friends and the repercussions of her leaving the ninja school. A complaint I would have in the beginning with the Senpai(I can't find the name) If the teacher was offended by Buddahfist's ideas why did the person(can't tell gender I thought it was a woman) allow it. It's just a little nitpicky on my part. Also the confrontation with the viking chick pure genius with some of the dialog.

Art: I really like the art style. It is kind of reminiscent of something like Ryan Lee O'Malley's work in Scott Pilgrim. It's expressive and the actions are fluids. The characters have unique looks. The girls though could use a little more differences. As far as I can tell most have the same nose and waist size. I like the mix of magic and fantasy with more modern "hip" clothing. So it's really neat. The action scenes are well paced. I'm not a big fan of the halftone being used. It's normally my complaint and my own personal problem because I think that half tones normally look like the same color. Also with the cover I wish more of this was in color, because I think it would look awesome. But the since it hasn't been updating recently well...

Over all good comic I just hope it updates again soon and stays on a schedule. If it does I would say fav. it. But since it doesn't just read it

Ranking: READ!

firstly... paige is awful cute.

anyway.

i'll start with the art.. i like, as ziffy mentioned before, how the manga drawing, namely the clothing, contrasts with the fantasy theme. it's an interesting thing to see a viking chick standing in a school hallway with a girl wearing a backpack and a sword, with guy donning an earring and baggy pants in the background without it being strange. the fight sequence from the beginning was very well done, and the coloring is an interesting choice; it's as though the intention is to further along the manga feel.

the writing however, doesn't do it for me all that much. i did read through the archive, but i don't think it's enough to actually keep me waiting for the next update, especially given the long periods of time in between. it's certainly not clunky or implausible, just not strong enough to lure me. in its defense, not very many pieces have truly come together yet so that may be a hasty criticism, what with all the other positive qualities kerslash has to offer, but... i dunno.

a very nit-picky and unimportant thing, but the occasional grammatical errors like homophones (i'm not quite sure how to word that properly, misusing homophones?), and the like kinda bother me. but that's not to be taken too seriously, just me being anal.

overall, it's not a bad comic at all, but i don't think it's for me. kerslash would benefit GREATLY from more regular updates and maybe expediting the storyline a smidge, but even including that i think daiconv is doing a fine job.

3.5/5
you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

Well, I definitely enjoyed this comic!

ART:
I have to say, I really enjoy your art style and the way you ink your pages. It's definitely a more unique style compared to what's out there right now. The characters are very expressive and it's easy to tell what emotion they are feeling which I think is an especially good thing since text bubbles can only do so much. Action sequences are very well drawn out and flows well from panel to panel. Some things I notice in your art is that the anatomy looks a bit funky in some pages. As in, the heads look a little too big and the arms a bit short. Of course, it could be the whole stylization of the comic, but it just seems a bit unbalanced.

STORY:
At first, I wasn't too impressed with another comic/story with ninjas and the such as I find that they're all the same. Yours on the other hand veered away from the whole cliché of ninja training as the main focus. Really, that's all I can say about your story so far. Hopefully, though, it turns into something much more interesting and enjoyable.

OVERALL:
All in all, I really liked it and will most likely keep an eye on it. The art was good and kept me reading. Paige is a fun character, though I think she needs a little more to her than just being "the good guy". I won't say that you haven't tried because your comic is still near the beginning of the story and she hasn't had much opportunities to develop.

Well, that's all I have to say for now. Keep going with your comic and good luck!

Well, I kinda gave up on Ninja stories after I was fooled into reading Jubei or whatever it was, but after reading this, I'm kind of excited that there might be more stuff like this.

ART:
First the negatives: Occasionally the inking can be slightly inconsistent, although the author gave the reasons and I can relate. I've seen elsewhere that people did not like how the manga style and the characters did not relate. I actually kind of liked the opposing styles, but the backgrounds had a nasty habit of being a little bland and lack detail.
The positives: I simply love the character designs. They have a similarity to something like Teen Titans but with almost a graffiti like motion about them.

STORY:
An interesting story with an eclectic cast. Paige is just original enough to make me wonder why she hasn't been done before. The world where individual martial arts and magic school co exist in a metropolis without anyone asking why is refreshing, even if it has been done before. The pace is a little quick, but I take it mostly to get us to the action, which fits in well.

OVERALL:
I'm glad I choose this comic as my first review, the story was fun and the characters oddly relateable. I'd highly recommend this story to anyone who's looking for a good off the wall read. Grade B+

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate all of your honest reviews. The universal gripe seems to be with updates. All I can say is that I'm working on it and I am determined to start producing a page a week. This past couple of month has just been one of those times where I had to drop kerslash to the bottom of the totem pole.

But again, thanks for the support.

Kerslash is an upbeat and lighthearted adventure including fighting and intrigues of a school environment. The fightingscenes are very well made and the artist has really managed to depict the motions well. It's a fun and easy read and the pace of the story is just right.

The art somewhat resembeles the type of artstyle you find in some of the contemporary shows at the Cartoon Network. The anatomy, facial expresions and perspectives are very nicely drawn. Everything seems to be put in the exact right place; talk balloons, motion lines and sound. I would expect to find similar comics in a comic book store.

The universe created for this comic is an interesting mix of skyscrapers, college environments, vikings and ninjas. How these can be put together in a way that it seems justified i do not know, but it has happened in this comic. Although there is charachter development for Paige (the main charachter) and the plot quickly moves forward, it does not make me feel I need to know what happends next. This is a pleasant and cheerful read, but not something I would recommend as having an intriguing plot.

Kerslash was a very good read for me. I enjoyed everything about it. But, here's my review of it, seeing as it's my reason for being here. ^_^;

Art: 5/5

I don't like judging other people's artwork, as everyone has their own style and I can't really critic it, but in terms of anatomical proportions go (if that's what you would refer to it as), it's all correct. It has a semi-cartoony/manga style that I really dig. It's more of an urban style, and while reading a page while listening to some Hip-Hop, It really fit.

But that has nothing to do with anything, moving on...

Plot: 4/5

It has a refreshing overall twist on the usual ninja story. Instead of going under the normal ninja training, or being smack dab in the middle of training, it shows the main character, Paige, finishing it. An event occurs which leads her to pursue the college life and so on. Pretty well done as well. My only problem is that there really isn't anything to keep me super excited about the next page. This isn't too much of a problem, though, cuz the art manages to do it for me.

Pacing: 5/5

Not too rushed, and not too slow. It's moving along fine.

Updating: 2/5

Not like I'm one to talk, but it's the updates that irk me. It was on a small unnanounced hiatus for awhile that scared me, but it's back now. But, we all know how writer's block can get to ya. The author has the next date planned, so let's hope he can keep it that way.

Overall:

Excellent comic worth checking out. I give it a 9.0

Go on! Go read it!

Okay this is my very first review, so as always, I'll try to be objective, make sure everything I noticed gets pointed and not sound too rookish ^^.

The Story:
I find it quite enjoyable. Quite some clichés in there, stuff like "This sword.. is my burden, and mine alone" that actually made me smile and think "really..?". But to be quite honest, you can't really make anything meaningful unless you feature a couple clichés in.
The whole idea of the storyline is an instant winner. Teen/school stories are always popular, add to that ninjas & sword fighting and you got a fan base by panel two ;).

The Art:
My first thought when I saw the title page was "professional". Surely enough by panel three and after a few poses I took it back, but still, the artwork is pretty angular but in the right places, easy on the eyes, makes you feel quite comfortable with angles.
Sure it lacks colors (which I'm a pretty big fan of, adds volume), but that two you made sure was not a minus, shadings and inking which are almost perfect make up for the lack of colors and actually makes you not miss them.
In fact I don't think coloring this could make it any better.

All in all, I give it 8/10. faved :D
Aggie. solemnly

Hey Kinuchio, that's cool you pointed out that thing about reading the comic while listening to music. It's definately a music infused comic. I listen to a lot of hip hop instrumentals and fighting game soundtracks while drawing Kerslash(my kerslash playlist, if you will) and it's kinda cool to see that it seeps out.

I like the idea of everyone having their own 'personal kerslash soundtrack' playlist though.

ok, enough of my ramblings, let the reviews continue!

I have to say that I liked this comic a lot! :) I didn't find much that burdened me.

ARTWORK:

I have to say that the artwork was very exceptional. Though the inking was a little messed up in the beginning, the artist definitely fixed it in the end. The style, being a little fun, cartoon/manga kind of thing, was fantastic as well. It really worked, with the plot revolving around a ninja girl. It kind of reminded me of something you'd see in an eastern-inspired western cartoon. Nice!

I have to say, though, that I didn't like the halftone-shades too much. I thought it was a good idea to add some extra tones in there, but it would have probably been better without. For example, in this comic:

http://www.drunkduck.com/KERSLASH/index.php?p=357090

The tones kind of take away the smooth look that you want with a manga-inspired style. Especially in the fat guy's necklace, it makes the beads look flatter, and not round.

I can see that you didn't put halftones in the last two pages, and it shows a HUGE improvement when you add gray tones instead:

http://www.drunkduck.com/KERSLASH/index.php?p=464442

http://www.drunkduck.com/KERSLASH/index.php?p=464444

I think it looks more like a manga this way, and MUCH more smooth. :)

Overall, the art is an A+. It shows talent and promise, no doubt.

STORY:

Let's be honest. The ninja thing is a little overplayed in these parts of the internet, no? But I do have to say, the story was extremely enjoyable. It's got more thought put into it than the average ninja story, to say the least. The characters, though you kinda threw me off with a ninja, a viking, a sorcerer, and a... um... sky pirate...? ... In the same story, they all sort of reflect their own stories and it interests me to see what those stories are. Though, I have to say, it's got kind of a disorganized sense, with all of those crazy characters just thrown in there and not much purpose for each of them.

It seems that KERSLASH kind of has it's own little world, where any abnormal kind of person can go to this one art college. It makes the comic much more interesting than it already is. It makes me want to find out more about this world and, in a way, compare it to my own. It's a world where anything can happen, in a sense, and a world that many people dream about, right? Overall, the story is very interesting and creative... but the characters are a little disorganized and pretty much just tossed into the story.... I give the story an A-

OVERALL:

Overall, KERSLASH is a great read with tons of promise and talent. The work that was put into the artwork and the writing shows dedication, effort, and quality. It's hard to find great webcomics on the internet these days with all of the hussle and bussle, and KERSLASH makes it easy. A job well done for the author/artist!

All in all, KERSLASH deserves a big, fat A slapped in it's face. Congratulations! :)

I generally try to avoid reviewing other webcomics, because its hard for me to make up good things about them if its not sincere. but i clicked on the link and was pleasantly surprised. congrats on getting featured so fast, btw! anyway...

ART:
Ill start with the bad. your style fluctuates like crazy. in the beginning i was getting a strong "afro samurai/genndy tartakovsky" vibe which i was digging...then your art went angular, then for some weird reason you started getting round when paige got to school. but on the whole your style is very seductive and i for one am a little jealous at how much black you use (i would use alot more on my own comic if i had the money to keep buying markers lol)

STORY:
Ill start with the bad. the whole first scene almost made close the window out. I saw this coming from a mile away and idk if that was your point or not, but...thats such a bad cliche to use IMO. Im also not a big fan of "school comics" (in fact i hate them) so you almost lost me again when she went to art school. and the scripting....i understand wanting to have dramatic moments, but damn, you put one on every page it felt like. a bit too overload. the scene with page unwinding is a relief, the drama was getting too tight.

FINAL VERDICT:
the art saves this comic from being completely forgettable, but it could use some consistency. The story needs some grounding, as all the parts are floating around right now. I look forward to seeing where this leads.

6/10

Kerslash is an enjoyable light hearted martial art themed comic.

Positives:

The main character is instincitvely recognizable. The overbilled cap, stark black hair, and wide eyes are well created without having to be an elaborate design. All good heroes need a good nemesis. The viking antogist fits in well in this modern fantasy world. This could be a perfect pairing in the lines of Goku/Vegeta, Batman/Joker, etc...

It's been interesting watching the art develop over the time, as the artist finds the right style. Excellent visual forshortening gives a strong manga feel. I think the little things are the story's strongest points from painting by cutting spray cans open with a blade to the old school blowing into a Nintendo cartridge when it wouldn't work. I hope minor details like this will continue to show themselves.

Negatives:

As many have stated, the timing of the pages are the biggest downfall. When I first got into the comic and another page wouldn't show up for weeks I end up losing interest until I fall back on my favorites section to catch up on anything I may have missed.

A plus that may be a minus to some is how light hearted the comic is. It's incredibly fun, but I feel the story needs to start getting deeper to make me feel for the characters.

Overall:

If this updating of this story was consistent, this would be a weekly must read. I'm a fan of anything ninja or martial art related and this is an original fun take utilizing the genre.

Overall:

This book immediately caught my attention. Your style is very unique.

Art

Praise:

Your linework is very professional. Every line is so smooth and full of movement, and the variety of line widths really add a tremendous amount of definition to the characters. Nicely done!

It's fun to see how much you've improved in just 40 pages. Keep it up! Are you a pro? If not, why not? :)

You also have a great understanding of anatomy. Even when drawing in a non-realistic way like this, mistakes in proportion are usually glaringly obvious, and distract from the art. But your characters are all drawn perfectly, even in your exaggerated style (which I think is more challenging than if you had tried to draw them realistically).

Also, great choice of camera angles. Your variety of close-ups and extreme angles really keep the comic moving.

Criticism:

I think my only criticism is that your bold linework is just begging to be colored. I'm sure that time is an issue, but if it wasn't, I think this book would be outstanding in color.

Writing:

Praise:

I love your writing style. I like books that don't take themselves too seriously, and this one is very fun to read.

Also, you say what you need to say and move on. If you ever got too wordy, I think it would conflict with the fast pace of your artwork.

I think the characters are very believable. And pop-culture touches (like when she is blowing the dust out of the nintendo cartridge) really help to add a sense of realism to your world.

Criticism:

Sorry, this probably isn't a very helpful review, but I can't think of any.

Conclusion:

You are obviously one of the most talented artists on Drunk Duck. My only suggestion would be to add color if possible. I like your newer pages with the grayscale shadows instead of the patterns (which probably look great in print, but are a little distracting on the screen). Keep it up!

THE WRITING: It's decent, but not...well....how do I explain this? The whole story's a bit wacky, but that's okay. Wacky is good, and the author seems to enjoy relishing in it. The storytelling aspect's a bit off, though. Why does this viking girl want to fight Paige so badly? What was the relivance of Shamrock? Why is that psychic or whoever--with the shiny glasses--working with the viking? Daiconv (the cartoonist) just sort of jumped in and did a haphazard job of setting up the characters and their relation to one-and-other. I admit, it's always tempting to just cut the introductory stuff and jump into the bulk of the story, but it really confuses the reader. Heck, what little is set up--Paige's experience at the ninja school--really doesn't establish Paige as a character and is more or less just there to explain why she's schooling with a pirate, a psychic and a viking.

On a side note, everyone else here seems to think that your opening was a cliche'. Seeing as I generally don't read ninja-based comics, I wouldn't know, but when almost the entire readership sees a plot point coming a mile away your comic seriously needs some work.

THE ART: Makes up for the writing, which is never a good thing. It's very stylistic--kind of a cross between DC Comics and anime, which works, I guess. But when the art outshines the writing, it's time for improvment. In comics, it's the job of the art and the writing to each tell half the story. I was going to make a point about how the writing's not doing enough, but the art isn't really pulling its weight either. It just looks cool is all.

That's about all I have to say. You may want to go back and flesh things out a bit.
At the Dumb Guys Convention (from Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis)
Dumb Guy 1: Okay, who wants to play jump off the fifth foot balcony into the swimming pool?
Dumb Guy 2: Oh! Oh! I do! jumps off the balcony
SPLAT!
Dumb Guy 3: This would work SO much better with a swimming pool.

This is a pretty old thread, but I just read the comic so I figured I'd post my two cents.

Overall I think it is good and worth the read.

Art: Has a pro quality to it. There are some panels here and there that look a little sloppy, but most of it just rocks. The characters are really expressive and the action translates well.

Story: Enjoyable. Not super original but what is these days. It is fun and entertaining to read.

It's been a while guys. It's cool to see that people were still reading after the hiatus. Thanks for taking the time to read my comic and write up a review, and also for sticking around. The hiatus is over, and I appreciate any and all reviews.

I hope people post more reviews in the future, every review is a good review if it helps me become a better comicker!

First things first...I don't read any manga. I have friends who are all about the stuff, but I haven't got into it at all.

Having said that. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like KERSLASH. I really like the look of the comic. I suppose this is a comment on manga in general, but I enjoy the 'high energy' framing of the panels. Often I find the panel format adds very much to the energy and feel of the comic and this comic has got it right.

Art:
The art is fun and eye catching. I feel that the artist definitely has a good handle on artistic form. The main character has a "North American" look to me (if that is a look). She looks like a tween girl you might know at your highschool. Maybe the odd placement of her as a top ninja surrounded (at first) by all things Japanese is what caught my eye in the beginning, something new and different.

Story:
It's interesting how manga can add maybe 5 panels each update and still feel like you are reading a book. Imagine of you read a novel at that pace...it would be excruciatingly slow! At any rate, my only problem is that I sometimes found my self "falling out" of the story. I couldn't get into it deeply. I started off wanted to engross myself in the story but sometimes an odd twist, or an obvious plot event knocks me back to reality (sitting at my computer, reading a comic on Drunk Duck). The best stories engage you in a way that you forget your day to day activities. You can't help but read on and continue the story as though it is part of your world. Although this story has promise, I still haven't reached that 'lost myself int he comic' feel.

All in all an enjoyable first venture in to manga like comics. Thanks for the great strip!

AS many have said it is a fun comic.

The art, very clean and has a lot of energy. The story telling is clear, never do images confuse you as to what is going on. I quite like the style, even if it does shift a little and it suits the tone of the comic perfectly.

The story, is cliched and insane but it works, the drama is well laid out and never does it concern itself with realism it just assumes you are onboard and enjoying the ride.

Beyond that I don't think I can add anything to what others have said. Some may have liked it more than others but that is personal taste but no one is knocking fact that there is a decent if unsubstantial comic here, oh and spelling mistake on page 17, but thats just nit picking.

overall 4.5/5
New comic alert. [..]

“Kerslash” is, as you may have guessed from the onomatopoetic title, primarily an action comic. Its main protagonist is a teenaged ninja girl named Paige. In the opening of the story she’s a star pupil at a boarding school for ninja assassins. (The school even has a dean’s list and everything) However, she’s expelled when she won’t cross certain moral boundaries and is forced to restart her life at a small arts college. Naturally, it doesn’t take long for her to make new enemies and also have some of her old problems follow her to the new campus.

I’ll begin by discussing “Kerslash’s” key virtue, which I believe is the art. The stylistic leanings of the comic are definitely rooted in manga. However, it isn’t done in a way that is shamelessly derivative or woefully tacked-on. The artist has clearly studied the manga artists that they love and applied certain characteristics of it to the artwork they were doing already. This is good to run into since I am very, very sick of seeing webcomics where someone just traces panels out of “Bleach” or “Naruto”.

Another key component of this comic’s look is definitely wyldestyle. One wouldn’t think that the characteristics of spray-paint graffiti would transfer to comics all that smoothly, but in the past decade or so artists like Jim Mahfood and Damian Scott have pulled it off. There’s definitely an undercurrent of this in “Kerslash”. Limb movement is exaggerated and poses are rendered in a manner reflective of a bombed out subway car. It’s a nice touch.

These artistic stances give the book a high octane, razzle-dazzle feel that more than lives up to the energetic title of the series. As I said in the opening sentence, “Kerslash” is very much a fight comic and it feels the most alive during its elaborate sword fighting sequences. I really can’t compliment the action scenes enough. They’re dashing, cinematic, and very impressively rendered.

Of course, there’s also the writing. I’m afraid that it isn’t really my cup of tea. The pages so far are laced with minor spelling and grammatical errors, but those can be easily fixed and they’re only the tip of the iceberg. My main problem with ‘Kerslash” is how it retains a steadfast devotion to the clichés of its genre.

In the very beginning Paige is giving a first person narrative about her tenure at a boarding school for ninjas. She’s the head of her class and has logged over a thousand hours fighting holograms. The reader knows from page one that her headmaster is going to have Paige fight and kill some real people in order to see if she has the stones to take a life. And, the reader also immediately knows that she’ll ultimately shun the notion of killing in cold blood. (Which makes me wonder why she enrolled in a school for hired assassins in the first place)

The storyline in “Kerslash” has absolutely no surprises in it. Every single plot point is signaled to the reader miles before it arrives. If you have any familiarity with martial arts movies, TV shows, video games, or comics you have already witnessed the events of “Kerslash” dozens of times before. So far it hasn’t brought any new variations on the genre to its pages.

I wouldn’t say that ‘Kerslash” is a bad webcomic. It’s visually arresting, and it has a good knowledge of the well-worn narrative ground it treads upon. It’s also a fairly new comic, so it definitely has the potential to transcend its roots. For now, however, it’s just another ninja fight comic in an ocean of similar ones.

Art - 5/5

The art is great, it fits the fast-paced and explosive actiony feel the story is meant to be. I'm not sure if there's anything to add to that, it does what it's supposed to do and gets the point across, while looking cool.

Writing - 3/5

It's pretty early into the story, so I'll just review what there is while saying that it could possibly improve later on.

Kerslash follows the story of a really good ninja student who left ninja school when she was about to finish the final test, because she realized they were making her fight real people instead of what she assumed were holograms. So far it hasn't gotten beyond a fight with a pirate guy, so I don't think it'd be fair to base this rating off of the story.

As for the dialogue, it seems like the characters ramble off whole paragraphs of dialogue to themselves as fights are going on and seem to like yelling and randomly challenging each other to fights. As a previous reviewer said, it's essentially another ninja fighting comic in regards to the writing, but it could improve at any time.

Characters - 3/5

To be honest, they don't do anything for me. They're all very egotistical and have no qualities that really make me like them at all. I'll give them extra in this category though, since it's pretty early in and I haven't really gotten the opportunity to see them developed.

As for their design, the pirate and viking seem out of place since everybody else is in normal street clothes, even our ninja protagonist. It's kind of distracting to me. But I suppose in a place where there's wizard, pirate, viking, and ninja schools it would make sense to have people walking down the halls with swords on their backs.

Conclusion - 7/10

While KERSLASH has a great concept going for it, I believe the delivery stumbled. It is in its early stages, so despite the negative points I've mentioned, I still recommend it. It's got some great potential and I really hope it can become something unique and fun.
