I so stole this from another forum.

What is a draw off? A draw off is where you pit your art against others in an artistic battle royale.

Unlike Fightsplosion where you put your characters to fight, in a draw off you create a character and put it in different situations and scenarios dedicated to a theme in particular.

These might be:
Sci Fi:
cyber heroes fighting crime with state of the art weaponry.
Real Life:
Grocery shopping.
Fantasy:
Fighting dragons in the name of glory.
Etc...

Rules

Someone
You will have a particular amount of time to render to specification an image set forth in the draw off description. After the deadline, a voting poll of sorts will exist where people can vote for the image(s) they like the most. The winner gets the choose the theme for the next draw off.

Pretty simple. These kinds of things exist in many other art forums and there's no reason we shouldn't have our own. Believe me when I say: They are plenty fun! Nonetheless, as this forum focuses primarily on learning it is your duty to challenge yourself and try new things. This may be a difficult pose or an elaborate background or simply finishing a drawing. There's a reason why the deadlines give you lots of time to work on this -- it's up to you to use that time.

As if it needed to be said, all imagery must abide by forum rules and regulations.

Someone
Posting rules:Do not post Works In Progress in this thread -- you can post them else-where, but not here. You can only post ONE drawing, that's right, you have all this time to work on one drawing, make it count! When you're finished, you may post your drawing in this thread.

And just to be specific: This should be a brand new pic!

(You can post questions or comments in this thread)

Since this is the first one i'll choose.

Theme:
Super hero vs villain.
Scenarios Choose one):
Post apocalyptic city, valley of death or the middle of the street.

Character description: super powered public service worker (Firefighters, police officers etc) bearing a signature item of his/her line of work.

Deadline: March 17.

Remember:
The image must be new.
Stick to the contest theme.
Must abide to the forum rules.
Must be an original work (no fanart).
The winner will be chosen by public votation.
No entries will be accepted after the deadline.

This sentence is larger than all the others before it.

If there is a moderator interested in taking over this, feel welcome to do so.

Have fun!

Firstly, bring it!

Secondly,

'...in a draw off you create a character and put it in different situations and scenarios dedicated to a theme in particular...',

do you mean we have to use the same character for every picture?

o.O

only if you want to.
If you are going to use the same character for everything, make sure you have one of each gender.

No, just one entry.
The gender of the character being portrayed depends on the winner of this round, and the next, and the next, etc.

This is most intriguing. I have to say that I was super excited when I read the topic, though I kind of got slightly shot down when it's a public service worker. Poo. Oh well, that just means I have to win and pic the next topic, right? This is gonna be fun!

((On a side note, Red Slayer, is that a picture of Bridge from Power Rangers SPD as your avi?))

One of the purposes of the game is to challenge yourself, to try something you haven't done, or not used to do.

God forbid! That's Major Sheppard from SG Atlantis.

I understand that perfectly, but there are many ways to challenge yourself. Like you said. This will be a challenge to come up with the new characters. Hmmmm... What to do.

Anyways, sorry, they hold a striking resemblance. Especialy that expression. ^_^

Let me get this straight. Whomever wants to enter this round draws a picture using the critia set down, and the winner will be voted on or choosen when all is said and done?

I'm in on this.

Uh, I boned it, got distracted or something.
*Dramatic withdrawal ensues.*

Next round, however, will be mine!

When it comes to submitting our finished works, how should we do so? Do we just put it up here in a reply, or do we send it to a certain e-mail, or what?

By the way, thanks so much for doing this. I'm having a great time with my piece.

Awesome job, Acadia! Well, I guess it's my turn now!

^_^ There, it's done! Huzzah! I'm very proud of it. Character on the red poster provided with permission of Nigellashade, his artist, who holds all rights. She's a good friend of mine, too, so yeah. Hope everyone else has success!
