I'm seriously thinking of purchasing this. I know some coding but not enough to make a game from scratch. And powerful programming languages are very VERY expensive. Anyone around here ever use this programming tool?

Went ahead and bought it anyway. I'll have to learn how to use this thing, but at least I won't burn out my brain cell trying to learn to code with it (when I tried to learn C++, it was the lesson in pointers that burnt my brain)...

Here's hoping you have XP because my version doesn't work on Vista. Then again, it's just the basic version.

It's alright for coding games, but it's really best suited to either really simple 2d games(8bit quality) or early 3d games, and they're really no inbetween. One nice thing though is it has a built in compiler, so the games can run independent of the program.

I'm still using XP. I'll probably keep using it 'til Microsoft stops supporting it. Anyways, the language seems overwhelming at first despite advertisements saying it's easier than coding in something like C++. I've done some coding in Visual Basic (I still have Visual Basic 6) so that makes things a little bit easier. Starting out with simple programs so I can relearn the nuts and bolts of the thing...

I just realized that along with my download of DB Pro I also got the two volumes of "Hands on DarkBASIC Pro" along with it. And I went and printed all 290+ pages of them. I think DB Pro is compatible with Vista... either that or I don't understand THIS THREAD about it on the game creators forums...
